The lobster roll was good, but those aren't usually too hard to find. This place worked because we were walking and just wanted a quick lunch, but wow the service was bad. Its takeout, so there really isn't much service expected. The BLT Wrap came out with about 2 cups of shredded lettuce and 2 tiny, crunchy strips of bacon. When we asked they were annoyed, but obviously we weren't the first to ask about such a disappointing meal. Lobster roll, BLT (minus the B) and some crunchy French fry bits (plus mandatory gratuity) we were about $75. Hard pass on the wraps, but for a quick bite this place might satisfy. read more

You know me, it's tough for me to give one star. This place is terrible, avoid at all costs. I should have checked with the Yelp community on this before dining, but I didn't. I got a $20 BLT wrap, it only had two small pieces of bacon on it. When I told the gentleman at the counter, he said it wasn't his problem. This was by far one of the worst places we have eaten at our entire vacation. We came to grab something quick instead of sitting down and waiting at a restaurant on the island. I got a Buffalo chicken wrap. My boyfriend got a hot dog, cheese burger, and cheese fries. A square of cheese you'd get out of a package was melting on to the fries. You can literally see the outline... my wrap had maybe had 5-6 small cut pieces in each side. 17.99 was the price of the wrap and it was mainly lettuce. Please avoid so you don't ruin your day. Total was $58 pictures shown below.. Another note to add was a girl who works here came in and the owner was loud and rude. Very unprofessional we were sitting trying to eat what food had already ruined our mood and she's bullying her staff. Very unprofessional. For starters I made a major mistake. I ordered a hot lobster roll from "Old Harbor View Takeout" last year when I visited Block Island for the day. Unfortunately I was not the Yelper I am today so I didn't check in, and I couldn't remember the name of the place. So I made the mistake of posting my picture but gave credit to another establishment across the street. DOOHH!! Well this time I will not make that mistake. I was craving a lobster roll mid-week through our vacation but just like last year, I didn't have one until I was waiting for the ferry to leave the island. I have to say the one I had last year was a tad bit better for some odd reason, but the one I had was still yummy!! It was meaty and buttery. The boss lady walks around greeting everyone, while trying to convince you to sit and eat. I washed it all down with a strawberry/lemonade smoothie. I don't care where you are located in this world, the prices are too much for food deep fried and served out of a shed. The fish and chips was somehow completely devoid of flavor, and the fries were five minutes over cooked. The lobster roll was chewy. My child did devour his grilled cheese (American yellow). 2 stars because the service was pretty speedy (by way of yelling a number over a loud speaker). The takeaway: If you are in a hurry to guzzle down fried food before heading to the ferry, and you don't care how much that food costs or if it tastes that great, go for it. Possibly the worst lunch on block island. Hockey puck on a bun called a cheeseburger and an iceberg lettuce filled tortilla with a slice of bacon and old tomato passed off as a BLT wrap. This place has been taken over by The Mohegan, which we thought would only make it better. Wrong. We ordered a fried chicken sandwich, an order of chicken tenders, 3 lemonade ice teas, fries and onion rings for .... are you ready for this? .... a whopping $46.04 !!!!!! And the chicken sandwich was more like a vegan chicken sandwich -- there was a piece of chicken no larger than a slice of tomato. This place is close to the ferry landing and has outdoor seating. Ordered a $30 hot lobster roll and received two huge/ tough, drenched in butter piece of lobster on top of a roll that was soaked in butter. The two pieces of lobster were too big to fit in the roll so they were just laying on top making it very difficult to eat. Horrible. Absolutely Horrible. Service. Coffee. Food. Horrible. We went here toward the end of our trip to Block Island. We were tired and wanted to get some coffee before we boarded the ferry back to the mainland. We got three coffees (ridiculously stale), one plate of falafels (4 pieces for $6 that looked like mini goat turds, tasted like half fried uncooked batter) and french fries (soggy and seemed like they were from the day before). We bought all this and sat at one of their not-so-clean tables. We had a slice of pizza left over from lunch in a box and we were saving it to feed our two year old toddler when she woke up. Guess what, she woke up when we were here so we decided to feed her that slice. An old guy comes running out of the store as soon as we open the pizza box, again that only had one slice for the baby, and starts shouting at us saying and I quote "outside food not allowed, cant you read. Get that S**t out of here". This in the presence of two toddlers and five of us are just staring at him while drinking the stale coffee that we bought from his restaurant. Absolutely Ridiculous, unprofessional and rude. Never ever going back there again and recommending everyone we know never to go here. Its better to cross the road and go to the coffee shop across the street than to deal with these idiots. read more

I have gone to this take out many times and I always enjoy the cold lobster roll, so much tender meat and the perfect ratio of mayo, spice and meat. But the last time I visited I tried the hot lobster roll, wow! Try it! It's life changing, I mean as much as a lobster roll could change your life. Delicious! My friends and I were walking around looking for something decently priced and casual and thankfully we stumbled here. It's considered to be take away but there is a patio and picnic tables with an umbrella over each one to enjoy your food. There was something for everyone in our group - burgers (including the veggie burger), salads, gyro wraps, seafood, and ice cream. We ended up with both types of gyros (chicken and lamb), the fish and chips combo, and the hot lobster roll. I got the hot lobster roll which is the most expensive thing on the menu but it was worth it. They had told me the lobster was freshly caught that day and it sure tasted like it. They put in whole lobster claw pieces and big pieces of tail meat tossed in a creamy, sweet buttery sauce in a warm, toasted bun. Just writing this review makes me wish I had one right now! My friends raved about the gyros they had gotten and the fish and chips combo is definitely a meal worth the price. The staff is super friendly as well! They were all prepared to get the lines going and to answer any questions. We were so happy with everything that we went back for ice cream before catching the ferry back home. Horrible service. After 4 of my family members purchased food from here we sat down to eat. One of my kids had been across the street ordering a burger to take home. She came back to us and sat down at our table to wait for us to finish. Older guy came bounding up and said "Read the signs! No outside food!" We (unfortunately) HAD purchased food from him. And of the fifteen or so tables on the patio, only two were occupied. Easily the rudest, most foul person we encountered this week, and we just left DC and NYC. We were staying with a local family and made sure to let them know they should warn their visitors to avoid this place - guy was exceedingly aggressive. Been going here for over 3 years. The food is always great and so is the service. The tables are always wiped down and cleaned. The food comes out super quick and is the best I've had on the island yet. Perfect locations for waiting for the ferry and great view. Our friends at Old Harbor View Takeout always treat us with the most welcome attention every time we visit Block Island and that is often during the season. One reason why we are noticed by Rose and her staff is that we always bring our tiny breed chihuahua, Princess, strutting her "stringkini". The lobster rolls and french fried onion rings have always been so, so very satisfying. When we arrive at the port we immediately put in our order for our dinner later on the patio. Can't emphasize enough how friendly and welcoming the service is and how great and fresh the food really is! We highly recommend all visitors to Block Island to eat at this wonderful takeout. read more

We found the service here lacking. My daughter asked about smoothie flavors and was misunderstood when she asked for strawberry. They made her a strawberry banana one instead and then tried to insist that was what she ordered because that was how it was charged on the receipt. Three other family members heard her ask for strawberry. Since when is it a good idea to argue with your customers? They were young kids for whom English is obviously their second language, but they were downright RUDE! My $21 lobster roll was generously endowed, but the meat was tough. Also, we didn't know it was cash only until AFTER we'd ordered. A sign stating such could save many from embarassment. And after all that, the kids who got smoothies said they were like watered down yogurt. (My kids are 19 and 14..) Never again! We should've gone to Rebecca's! read more

The service was awful the help was extremely rude and spoke little to no English they tried to tell me, A PAYING CUSTOMER that I wasn't allowed to sit at their picnic tables because I ordered a side and not a full entrée which I suppose I am happy that I didn't sit their considering the smell of rotten fish was in the air while the tables were all sticky from ice cream and I was very disappointed with my food it was under cooked and had remains of what seemed like pubic hair in it I hope this information helps whoever sees and doesn't go their the health inspector should shut them down very disappointing!!! read more

Overpriced for poor quality food sold my unfriendly, unhelpful workers. The lobster salad roll was the smallest lobster roll I have ever had at $15 it was not worth the money. The burgers would have been better from McDonalds. The chowder was very good but too small a portion for more than $5. I would recommend the French frys. They were seasoned and tasty although a bit soggy. When it comes to ketchup and mustard they ration them and don't like it when you ask for more. To top it all off they add 3% when you use a charge card. They don't tell you but have a small sign behing the soft drinks. Save your money not worth it.
