Planned my Dad's celebration of life at Old Hickory and Michelle and team made the event seamless. Hosted 40+ guests, lunch buffet and brought in two of his favorite beers from NC/SC. Projector screen with a photo slide show, podium with mic for speakers and plenty to space for guests to mingle with doors that open to the patio overlooking the course. Wrapped up the celebration with a 9-hole best ball tournament. Thank you OHGC for a memorable day just the way Dad would have liked.

My first time at Old Hickory. They have a really nice clubhouse and pro shop. This place is setup for event rentals. Bar service was good with sports on the TVs. The starter advised it was cart path only because the course was wet, this was definitely true in spots during our round. This a rolling course with deep fairway bunkers and challenging greens. The rough was rough. It was a fun round that took about 4.5 hours. They do need to have better course maintenance because the tee boxes were in bad shape, fairways could be better maintained and some of bunkers and bunker rakes were in terrible condition. The beverage cart made regular appearances during our round. It's a fun course and I would like to try it again with better conditions.

Uneven roughs and rough splotchy greens with aging infrastructure under poor unwelcoming management.

We live close to the Fairfax Ice Rink so were not expecting too much of a difference, but we were impressed as soon as we pulled up into the parking lot. The lobby is expansive with lots of space to walk around, sit down, and put on your skates. The girls at the front desk were SO friendly and helpful -- even volunteering to help us lug in our snow penguins from the rental area to the ice rink when they realized we were outnumbered by little kiddos There is a dedicated hockey rink as well as an Olympic sized rink that we utilized for public skate. My sister did not partake in skating, but was able to watch on the stands. Not simply because he was running late, but because the house (castle/waiting room/party room) was absolutely filthy. I was really taken aback by a business looking like this, even if it's a business that works w/ animals. When we got there, the owner and assistant were on a ride w/ another group. Then the group we were supposed to be riding with were an hour late, so we had to wait for them. It was just annoying, although Steven (owner) was friendly. When we walked into the empty house it looked like a construction space, a hen was walking around the inside and I even saw it poop IN THE KITCHEN! Things finally turned around when I hopped on Sherman (my white horse w/ black spots). He was a greedy little thing and ate up all the grass but he was a great horse. Steven immediately put ppl on the horses and taught us while we were riding. He was a straight to it teacher and I liked that. He definitely knows what he's doing when it comes to animals. He took a bunch of pictures and videos and sent them to everyone in the group. I'm thankful to have such awesome pictures that didn't cost us extra. I'm giving 4 stars despite the filth because Steven was friendly, welcoming, and I enjoyed the experience. Tip: -don't eat there if germs bug u -don't arrive early, there's no point -yes, you're in the right spot, even though it looks a little funky on the outside

He also never redeemed our Groupon. He has repeatedly messaged me and begged me to remove this review and has even reported it to Yelp to try to get it removed. Not only do I stand by my review but this Steven Strasburg owner has proved himself to not only be completely unprofessional but also desperate and dishonest. My advice: TAKE SOME RESPONSIBILITY for your business instead of accusing people of posting fake reviews or saying "it must've been another place". This is the ONLY time where an owner has not only not apologized but tried to say I'm posting for the wrong Castle Strasburg. How many Castle Strasburg horseriding places are there in Midland, VA? One thing we quickly realized was that the Osprey's had excellent customer service. Every question we had was answered quickly. Vanessa was very friendly, professional, and easy to work with. Even with the follow up questions we had after our tour, Vanessa responded to our emails quickly. Once we were about 45 days away from the wedding, we were paired with Tori, who was our Event Director. When we met with Tori, she was very friendly and helpful. One thing that we found helpful was the timeline template they provided us with. It helped us plan out our reception details with ease. One thing to note was that the Osprey's provides a list of preferred vendors to work with, such as DJ's, caterers etc. Their preferred list was a God send! We ended up hiring 2 of their preferred vendors and so happy we did! The day of our wedding was PERFECT. Everything we planned and wanted actually happened. I received so many compliments about the venue and my wedding and I was so happy our guests truly enjoyed it. Tori did a fantastic job as our event director and made sure we followed the timeline and kept things moving with ease. While the day flew by, we simply had an amazing wedding. I wanted to send a huge thank you to both Vanessa and Tori for making our special day go so well. :)

Lake Ridge Golf Course is one of the best hidden gems for anyone who wants to sharpen their iron…read moregame. It's a nine-hole par-3 course, so you're not coming here to bomb drivers all day, but that's the beauty of it. Every hole forces you to dial in your short and mid-irons, and for anyone from beginner to intermediate level, that's exactly the practice you need. They do have a small range where you can pull out the driver if you want to warm up, so you're not missing out completely. I know some reviews out there throw shade at the course, but honestly, for the price and the skill level it's aimed at, it's perfect. It's affordable, peaceful, and the layout is exactly what you want when you're trying to build consistency instead of pretending you're on the PGA Tour. I'm already looking forward to the season kicking off again so I can grab a membership. Huge shoutout to Sophia, too. She helped me and my foursome out and was genuinely one of the coolest people working at any course I've been to. Super friendly, patient, and made the whole visit smoother. I hope the course gives her the credit she deserves. Can't wait to play here again.

2 stars for one of the worst-kept golf courses in the DMV area…read more I am really writing this review in response to all of the positive reviews I've seen on Yelp and on golf websites like Golfpass. I try to base decisions on reviews and hope that others do the same based on mine, so I want to give a full picture view of this course. My wife and I were planning to play Burke Lake recently and decided to check out Lake Ridge to warm up, especially considering the 9 hole round would cost about $20. Located on Cotton Mill Drive in Woodbridge, my wife and I arrived to the course to see your pretty standard parking lot and public course club house. I went to check in and, when I mentioned my tee time since we were a little early, the man behind the register didn't really want to talk. He just told me to go out and start playing, so we did. What we found, on a 9 hole par 3 course that costs about the same as the Red Course at East Potomac, was a course that had been completely neglected. There were no real bunkers or even greens for a lot of holes. Very little in terms of signage or organization. It really felt like we were playing golf in a field. I get that the whole "you get what you pay for" idea, but the conditions were more in the range of a $5 course as you will in fact lose money from losing balls in these conditions. The most interesting part honestly was the 9th hole (where there is no actual exit from the course, but rather you just walk up a big hill) where I had to go over some hanging branches to a hole that felt like it was sitting on a cliff. I actually made the shot and birdied the hole, which was at least something positive out of the round. Unfortunately, it took over an hour to get to that hole as the gentleman in front of us with his young son had no interest in keeping any type of pace or letting us play through. I wouldn't expect a ranger at a course like this and would say bringing a kid to learn golf makes sense here, but it just made our experience even worse to the point we considered walking off half way through. Overall, Lake Ridge Golf Course is absolutely not worth the drive from anywhere outside of the Woodbridge area. While the price is pretty low (I occasionally see Golfnow deals for even less), the dreadful conditions make this a hard to even consider as a warm up course. You should really only consider going here if you are helping a young person learn the game of golf or you really just want a little more structure in your walk rather than strolling in a park.
