The vision is that each class builds upon past lessons and also introduces you to a new skill (putting, chipping, driving etc) Enrolling during the summer definitely meant that we experienced some scorching hot temps, but surprisingly there are little pockets of shade out there that would somehow make things bearable. My instructor was Phil who I tended to vibe with (probably because I grew up with coaches and can follow instruction.) He's pretty direct and could sometimes come off a little impatient, but if you understand his personality it's harmless and actually funny. Ultimately, he wants you to learn and enjoy the game and is very supportive when he witnesses your progress. It was nice to be able to stay after lessons sometimes just to hit at the range and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding area. If you're on the fence about lessons, I can attest that Play DCGolf is a great place to start!

Just finished up the classes, and feel really good about the value, and the things we learned in this beginners class. My class had four students including myself, and we learned all the basics - putting, using all the clubs, the different swings, golf course etiquette, and the basics to playing a game. We had enough instruction time, and alone time to practice in our own bays. Not needing clubs was a plus, as I hadn't committed to getting some at this point. They have disinfected loaners available to you if you need. The golf course/ driving range is nice, the instructor was a great instructor, and the classes were well structured. Thinking about taking the level 2 at some point! Highly recommend.

It's convenient to reach if you're coming from VA, PGC,…read moreor downtown DC; they have plenty of tee times available; the clubhouse has great food; and they have three putting greens and a driving range with Toptracer technology. East Potomac has a course for everyone no matter their skill level or time commitment. They offer a 9-hole Par 3 (Red course), 9-hole (White course), and a 18-hole (Blue course) course that are all enjoyable to play and are manageable for even beginners to play. The pace of play is usually good, but on a nice day you might run into a bit of a delay (worst I've seen is about 10-15min behind). The greens and tee boxes aren't always in the best condition, but they're maintained fairly well on all three courses that it won't throw off your game. For the cost of play, it's hard to beat the value you get from playing at East Potomac. ALSO, I always forgot that they have a newly renovated mini golf course if you're looking for something a little more lighthearted to play.

I hadn't ever been before and I really enjoyed my visit. You get a private room to yourself which is very nice. You can bring up to 4 people total for the $28. We did not know what to expect and left with a great workout, fun experience, and my wife, 4 year old daughter, and I all interested in golf. First off, the staff was amazing! Marquis has been golfing since he was 6 and gave us some quick tips that immediately improved our swing. They also had great cocktails and food and we loved having a private room where we could play music, watch the game, and play and learn at our own pace. They have multiple games including a driving range, courses, and a game where you aim at monsters (which our daughter really enjoyed). The staff provided great recommendations on each game. We immediately signed up for a subscription- the prices were really reasonable, hours are accommodating, and we envision going on our own to practice, bringing our daughter (she's been asking to go back), or going with friends. This would also be a lot of fun for corporate events or team building even if you don't golf and we are looking forward to bringing our teams in the near future. Fun, great for many audiences, and an amazing resource for improving your game!

I took his "treading water" clinic and in 10 minutes, I was treading water effortlessly; something I've struggled doing for years and even after taking numerous lessons with private instructors (not affiliated with SwimBox). He's taught for 22+ years! and it shows. He simply knows how to coach all the minute details in swimming mechanics. I've always 'm someone with a high muscle to fat ratio and have ALWAYS sank like a rock. He taught me 3 styles to use my hands to tread and 4 styles using my feet. He demonstrated things in the water (such as corkscrews) that I've never seen/heard of before. He's very friendly and personable as well. I've taken the swim analysis and it was super helpful/beneficial. Looking forward to signing up for more classes! Highly recommend!

Basically, vacation-style swimming where you jump off a boat, tread for a bit, and swim back to the boat. I asked if I could learn this at SwimBox. I was told I could. If they don't teach this, they should have said so. Instead, I took 10 classes and was never taught either of these things. The instructor, as usual, wasted time in the beginning treating me like I'm afraid of water. I can already swim underwater and on my back (not expertly, of course). Instructors should start off with new swimmers by allowing them to show what they can already do vs. starting them with blowing bubbles and floating. At SwimBox, they have no incentive to move you along quickly since dragging out the lessons equals more classes, which equals more money for them. I gave the instructor the benefit of the doubt that she was teaching me some basic things I needed to know. However, as the classes went along, I noticed we were headed towards what I feared -- teaching me freestyle swimming and perfecting my form. This IS NOT what I asked to learn! I don't plan to swim laps or join the Olympics. When I clarified again that I wanted to learn to swim with my head above water, she dismissed that type of swimming as not real swimming. Well, that's how people swim socially and that's what I asked, upfront, to learn. Finally, I was lied to when I was told we would work on treading water, which is the MAIN THING that I wanted to learn. The pools are, obviously, not deep, but I was duped into believing I would still be taught. Each time I take swim lessons, they teach what they want to teach. I will just have to get a friend to teach me because formal instructors are apparently hard wired to teach every new swimmer freestyle. I wasted my money.
