    Tiramisu and oreo fudge

I stopped in to this candy shop after checking out the ice cream shop that's connected next door. I love that they have a lot of old fashioned/ retro candies and a large selection of jelly beans. They also make a variety of chocolate candy and fudge in-house. I got 2 pieces of fudge: oreo and tiramisu. The oreo is very good, super sweet since it is fudge. The tiramisu was not as good as I hoped it would be.

This was my first time visiting the candy shop and wow, what an experience. The staff was so nice and let us try a few items, like the espresso covered chocolate. Highly recommend the mudd balls if you love oreos. What a declious treat.

Dieters BEWARE! This place is so freaking awesome. This adorable little candy shop is tucked into the corner of the old market and feels like something out of Harry Potter or a 1950's photo. It's very tiny and during peak hours gets a little cramped. Like all old market shops parking is an issue but if you ride the bus they drop you off close by. I appreciate all the selections they offer, even if they're evil to my waist line. You can find old favorites like candy cigarettes, sour candies, salt water taffy, jelly beans and more. Alternatively you can try their sinful fudge, take my advice and only get a little or I promise you it'll be gone before the day is done. One of my favorites is the chocolate almond treats or the walnut fudge. It is a little pricey but it is an experience and you'll enjoy watching your child's eyes light up when they visit this place. Did I mention my waistline? HaHa

OYelp says they are open until 9pm. Walked from my hotel to get a treat for my babies to bring home from my business trip. Got there at 8:30. People are inside but they are very much closed. Super disappointing. Needs to have updated/correct info on yelp. See my sad disappointed face below.

Awesome hand made family run candy shop. Was traveling with people that stop here every time they are in Omaha and it was the first thing we did. Everything I tried was great, but my favorite and their specialty are the mudballs. We even went back the morning we were leaving to load up to bring home. If your in Omaha you need to try a mudball!

The Old Market Candy Shop has been around for as long as I can remember. And I hope it sticks around forever. Not only is a staple of the Old Market experience, but a key to their ongoing success is that they serve up locally made sweet treats and more right there inside the cozy little shop. If you ever need a spot to grab a unique gift, head here. The employees are friendly and helpful (who wouldn't love working at a candy shop?). Plus they make the chocolate goodies right there in house. One small gift box will run between $5-$6. So you can literally buy happiness for like $6! They also have classic novelty candy like gummy rats, candy cigarettes, etc. A slice a nostalgia combined with a few pieces of Omaha-made choco-goodness equasl the Old Market Candy Shop. Perfect for nearly any occasion!

The busiest parts of the shop are the candy and soda fountain section. Lots of nostalgic treats to purchase, as well as decorations and other displays. Lots of other shops within the shop (similar to an antique mall) with records and other pop culture items for sale. My favorite part of the shop were the pinball machine rooms. Antique and modern pinball machines were packed into two rooms and each play was super affordable! It is worth mentioning that some of the antique ones were there as display only, but cool to see nonetheless. I spent most of my time here playing a few games and could have definitely spent more time here if I had the opportunity during my short time in downtown. So glad I got to check out this local gem and would recommend it to anyone in looking to grab a sweet treat or play some games!

Every time we thought we had seen the whole store, another doorway appeared leading into yet another room packed floor-to-ceiling with candy, retro treats, bizarre novelties, and things I haven't seen since childhood dentist appointments. The layout is less "store" and more "sugar-powered labyrinth." I'm fairly certain there are at least three rooms we never found, and there may be an entire hidden civilization living somewhere behind the gummy bears. You could visit five times and still accidentally discover a new hallway full of international candy bars and rubber chickens. Then there's the pinball arcade, because apparently simply selling every candy on Earth wasn't enough. Nothing says "responsible adulthood" like eating sour belts while aggressively losing at pinball. Unfortunately, we arrived close to closing, which meant we had to speed-run what felt like the world's quirkiest candy maze. We left knowing with absolute certainty that we missed half the place -- possibly an entire wing. Next time we're bringing breadcrumbs, a map, and maybe a sherpa.

It's about a 30 minute drive from Omaha and we had no problem finding it. My first impression was that it was way bigger than I expected and totally worth the trip!! I regularly buy Baker's chocolates at the grocery store but there was so much more selection and the prices were cheaper. For example, the bag of Patriotic Mix was $12.95 while it's usually $16.99 at Hy-Vee for the same thing. Besides the chocolates they are known for, they also had a large selection of saltwater taffy, fudge, and a ton of other candies, some I haven't seen since childhood. In addition to candy, they also sold a lot of locally made food stuffs like Rotella's bread, Mi Mama tortillas, Valentino's, Dorothy lynch, salsas, dips, jams, jerky, spaghetti sauce, you name it. They even had t-shirts, hats, and a refrigerated section for various meats. It was really cute inside and a lot of places for photo opportunities. There was a bench inside and a covered patio outside with a big parking lot. The staff were quick, efficient, and friendly. Glad I finally got to visit this place and I will be back again when my sweet tooth feels the need. :)
