It's a weak four stars. The place is very nicely decorated, but a little too small and stuffy. We sat by the door and people waiting for a table would be standing right by our table. The meal comes with a lentil soup and naan. The soup was great. Although the naan was store bought, it was still good. It came out piping hot. I ordered the mint iced tea ($3.5). I was great and came with free refills. Here's what we ordered: Lamb Kabob ($19). The plate was huge. It could have fed both of us. It came with rice pilaf, grilled purple cabbage/onion, and grilled lamb. The lamb portion was o.k. But they really piled on the rice. Kibby ($9). It came with six kibby. A small oval shape of fried lamb about the size of a grape. It came with a serving of hummus and lots of rice. This dish was a little disappointing. The kibbies were so small, I essential paid $9 for a huge plate of rice and hummus. Overall, the food was good and the portions were plentiful. The total bill was $35, before tips. I would come back here occasionally, but not too often. It was a little too expensive for me. read more

Great exotic food! you can't find this type of food in very many places especially in Bellevue. It's a bit pricey but completely worth it! Bad experience tonight. Had a question on a dinner item but chose two appetizers instead. When they brought me two dinners and I exclaimed that was not what I'd ordered or pointed to on the menu, the mgr told me that they don't allow people to only order appetizers. ?! He said he'd only charge me for appetizers, but loudly enough to embarrass me in the restaurant. And no one asked me if I'd like tea or anything other than water or dessert. Bummer, thought I'd found a good spot. My appetite was ruined by the whole restaurant being in on "my" mistake. read more

Heavy, but AMAZING food. We had our wedding day gathering here and everyone was thoroughly impressed and satisfied. It's a small place but they were able to accommodate our 20 or so guests, and did a great job of it, I might add. Worth the wait on a Saturday night, as well. Note: Must love garlic (They use even more than Garlic Crush across the street). Only wish they could get a bigger, more visible place. Also, "Mediterranean Kitchen" sounds like a casual lunchy place, while in fact they have a more elegant feel and could benefit from a name change to reflect this fact. read more

Hands down one of the best mediterranean places in Seattle. Folks here are nice and food is simply delicious. The portions are very large, so you might want to order less than usual. Over priced average middle eastern food. (i'm from the region) We came for dinner with our two young children. Their plates are huge but you can't split it, for example, if you wanted to feed two small children with one plate (they charge you extra to do that) we ordered a chicken pasta for the kids that turned out to be spicy and inedible. The waiter argued with us that's it is "just a little spicy". Our food was OK, as others said, the portions are huge. They load up on the rice to justify the steep price. The kids didn't touch their plate. So, in the middle of the table sit a huge plate of pasta and chicken and the waiter is playing dumb and asking if we want to a box for it ( I read another review - apparently we were not the first one to have to get "playing dumb" routine) After we said "no" and looked as pretty unhappy as we could, he went ahead and charged $20 for it. The food is average at best. The place is dirty and rundown. We should have gone to Chipotle near by. Definitely not going back there. Too bad - we love middle eastern food. read more

I would marry the farmer's dish if conservatives deemed it ok. The zahra (fried cauliflower), shish tawook (chicken plate and sandwiches) and baklava are also highly recommended. If you're against garlic than this is not your place. Also not a good date spot if your date isn't a willing participant. This is the smaller of the two mediterranean kitchens. Very tight and could use an expansion as busy as they always are, but the food is what really matters. The soup starter is always excellent and the garlic dressing could be put on a piece of cardboard and I'd eat it. Came in on a Thursday afternoon, around 12:30, they were extremely busy so I had to take my selection to go. I've been to the Med Kitchen in Kirkland many many times and absolutely love their portions and pricing. It was a sore disappointment at the Bellevue location. The Kirkland location has the same lunch pricing, ALL DAY. For all to go orders, you also get soup, hummus, salad, and arabic pita bread. I ordered a Veggie Shawarma at the Bellevue location after seeing the picture on yelp for the Veggie Shawarma at the Kirkland location. What I actually got had no semblance to the picture. Let me tell you what the "Veggie" Shawarma consists of: Dry rice and more dry rice, a few pieces of tomato...I'd say perhaps it may have once been half of a small tomato....a sprinkling of cabbage, a couple sprigs of green onions and loads of semi raw, semi-burnt onions...and lest I forget, I few dribbles of sauce here and there. I LOVE onions. I eat at least one a day. I couldn't eat these. My boyfriend and I were extremely disappointed. I love the sauce at the Med Kitchen in Kirkland. I was SO looking forward to it. No hummus either!!! And I love the hummus. The salad? WAAAYYY overloaded with an extremely overpowering garlic sauce. Um, not to be redundant but I love the salad at the Kirkland location. I definitely will never order take out here again. I may try to dine in here...maybe not. I'd probably try Garlic Crush first. I was pretty annoyed when my boyfriend who'd called in to complain pretty much got a too bad pal...had you checked your order right then and there, even though you were in a rush, and saw that there wasn't enough sauce, we would've given you some....oh, and sorry you thought "veggies" entails an assortment of vegetables. The business card reads two locations, one owner, but we're separate and different so don't expect the same amazing food. Sucks to be you. We're busy so I'm going to hang up now. Sigh. Oh, and did I mention they don't give you any utensils to eat your order with, unless you ask for it specifically. This was the first time I ever threw any leftovers away...I gave it a go. This place is a bit of a hole in the wall, but is worth the visit (and tracking them down!). My wife and I arrived around 6pm, just before the real dinner rush hit, so we were lucky enough to snag a table (where later patrons weren't as lucky), as the restaurants "quaint" & cozy. Waiter came over quickly, took our drink order, and a few minutes later came back to take our food order. Seeing everyone's delectable dishes being brought past, my wife kept telling me to stop staring! The sauce for dipping bread was very potent garlic pepper, which my wife loved, was a bit much for me (blasphemy!). I ordered the chicken shish tawook, which was piled on a mountain of delicious rice, with very fresh hummus. My wife ordered the beef shawarma. Both were very good, and we were super full after finishing. If you're a fan of Mediterranean food, worth checking them out. The prices were great, service was spectacular. read more

The lentil soup is okay, I wasn't a huge fan but I also always want to save myself for the AMAZING RICE AND KABABS!!! Their wine list is okay, with this type of meal you don't even need wine since there are so many flavors and delicious things happening on the plate. The Mediterranean Kitchen is one of two or three restaurants with the same name in the greater Seattle area. I have been eating here for over 15 years, and I have not had a bad meal yet! My go-to dish is the lamb shawarma. Many people who eat here find that the entrees here are so large that they become both dinner and the following day's lunch. Everybody receives a complementary spicy lentil soup. I understand the pita bread is good here, but I am a gluten-free diner, so I won't ever know. Once, long ago, I tried the Lebanese wine that they feature here, and found it to be adequate but not great. read more

huge portions - prices seem a little high until you see how much food you get. we did not find it overly garlic-y like some other reviewers, i thought it was seasoned well. not necessarily authentic med/mid east food, but it was delicious. for some reason my mom did not like the leftovers as much the second day as the night we dined in. i'm sure a contributing factor to the enjoyment level the second day was the fact that we could not heat up the leftovers since we were staying in a hotel and only had a fridge. ordered the lamb shanks and the shrimp seafood. the shrimp are EXCELLENT. the lamb was also good, but comes with HUGE vegitables, a little too much. they were crowded by the time we left, and we got there close to when they started dinner service. wait staff was very nice. i really like how this was a non franchised restaurant in a neighborhood of chain eateries (cheesecake factory, red robin, wendys, etc). nice to support the more original little guys. at first i thought i wanted to try garlic crush across the street, but when i walked by this place and saw all the zagat reviews i decided we should try this place instead. garlic crush i think is supposed to be good also...however all i know is the food here was on point. delicious and plentiful. read more

There's lots of good grilled meat options with varying veggies on top of rice.
