Noon Café is a casual family diner offering traditional grilled kababs (aka kebab), appetizers, sandwiches, and pizzas - all Persian/Iranian style. The interior is basic, decorated with photos of Iranian landmarks (I assume). Currently, they have a memorial due to the ongoing war. (Peace to all...) Service is warm and friendly. Be sure to ask questions if the dish names are unfamiliar. The Food: Soltani, $32.99 - 4 Stars Soltani includes one skewer of Koobideh (ground beef) and one skew of Barg (flank steak). Both are well-seasoned with excellent flavor. We ordered the flank steak medium rare, but it was medium with no pink inside. The steak was tolerable, not as tender as it could have be. This dish was served with rice per the menu. After I saw another table has their kabab served with a bread, I asked the server. She said other than rice, there is a choice of Persian bread (flat bread with sesame) and salad. Curious that wasn't in the menu nor did she say it. Not a dealbreaker. Her reply did raise my eyebrow. Zaboon, $16.99 - 3 Stars Menu: Veal tongue, simmered and fried, tomato, pickles, parsley Based on the description, the texture completely threw me off. The meat is mushy to the point of spreadable. The flavor is light with minimum seasoning. I applied hot sauce liberally to the sandwich. Portion size is large. I ate only half. Fries, $6.99 - 3 Stars Menu: Golden and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside Some pieces aren't crispy enough. Some pieces are too thick such that the inside has the potato gritty texture. The sauce is a house-created flavor. We like the sauce more than we like the fries. The food is closer to 3.5 Stars. When we realized we were at the wrong place, we informed the staff. They were incredibly polite and friendly and didn't show any irritation at all. They kindly said it was no problem and were very understanding. While we were there, we took a look at the menu and decided we should come back and try the food another time. A couple of months later, we returned to give it a try. We ordered the non-mixed grill, and it was absolutely delicious. The beef was cooked perfectly--juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The chicken was also excellent. The rice was perfectly cooked, and when we added the butter, it tasted amazing. They also had a special Persian spice that elevated the flavor to another level. The service was warm and welcoming. Our server took the time to explain how Persian food is traditionally enjoyed and described the purpose of each ingredient. I'd say depending on what you order, your experience at Noon Cafe could be just okay or stellar, but I was lucky to come with a group of friends and was able to try a ton off the menu. Pulled up on a Thursday night at 7PM and the restaurant only had 1-2 other parties seated. Zaboon Sandwich (4.5/5): This would absolutely be my go-to order - the tongue is so tender and perfectly seasoned. Bread is the perfect ratio of carbs Persian Pizza (1.75/5): I don't think this one is great, think like a not super nice frozen combo pizza energy, but with beef hot dogs. If that's your vibe, you'll love it, but wasn't what I was looking for. Koobideh (4/5): Well seasoned ground meat blend. I thought the rice and veg was fairly standard fair. The rice in the dolmas were a bit soft for me, but was actually nicely balanced in flavor (I've had some really sour dolmas in my time). Roasted tomato was a nice touch though! Barg (4.25/5): Steak is actually perfectly cooked, super tender and juicy. Didn't come with a ton of protein, but came with the standard sides and was delicious, especially with a hit of acid from the lime wedges. We happen to have dinner here accidentally after the Brazilian restaurant next door was closed for a private event. It was definitely meant to be because we had an amazing experience. You can tell it's family owned and our waiter took the time to describe the dishes and recommend some. He even gave us samples of a drink we were inquiring about.. such top notch service! The place itself is quiet. We were the only one there so it wasn't busy at all. I absolutely loved my first experience here at noon café. I came here with two other friends and we ordered three things to share. We got the Persian pizza, the hamburger, and the sosis bandari (sausage) sandwich. I was absolutely transported back to Tehran where I had delicious Persian pizza. It was a nice throwback to a nostalgic time for me. The sausage sandwich was delicious, the bread was perfect and not too thick or crunchy. The burger was good. My family and I stopped by for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant was fairly busy but we were greeted immediately. They have a large menu, and I opted to order the Vaziri (one skewer of koobideh and one skewer of chicken). Service was friendly and our food arrived within a timely manner. The meal was presented very nicely with good portion sizes. The chicken and beef were cooked well. I liked how the meal came with a side of yogurt. One drawback was the tomato, which I think could have been roasted a little longer, but this wasn't a big deal. My family and I just enjoyed our lunch at Noon Cafe. My 4 year old was craving pizza after church and I was craving Persian food so this was the perfect place to try! We ordered the baklava to start since our 4 year old and 1 year old needed some distraction before lunch and that was plated beautifully and absolutely delicious! Then we ordered the veggie pizza and the chicken kabob and hummus and it all exceeded our expectation! On top of everything being delicious the service was top notch! The staff were extremely accommodating and interactive with our kids which made us feel very welcomed since we don't go out much with our kids because they can be a handful to be around when we eat in public. The place was nicely decorated with plants and kept clean and they were putting fresh flowers which made the ambiance so nice to be around! We will definitely be returning here! I had a late afternoon sennin-so shiatsu session in Kirkland and was looking for something substantial for a late lunch/early dinner (4/23/23). Using my trusty Yelp app, I decided to seek out Noon Cafe located in Kirkland's Totem Lake area. I enjoy Persian cuisine, so I looked forward to seeing their spin with starters, sandwiches, and pizza. Noon Cafe was easy to locate using surface streets and proximate to I-405. Convenient and spacious shared parking lot at Totem Square, I found a spot right out front. First impression upon entering was clean, orderly, sleek with ample indoor seating. Their menu had a selection of nibbles like chips & cheese or fries, soups, salads, and a burger but you can tell their forte are with their pizza and sandwich selections. I veered from the Mortadella that originally caught my eye and wasn't as adventurous to try Zaboon (veal tongue) or Maghz (brain) separately or as a combo. I ended up ordering the Bandari sandwich to go ($15.90). This is served warm with sliced fried beef sausages, fried onions, parsley, pickles, and their special spicy sauce. I opted for that, but one can request cheese and/or mushrooms for an additional charge. After a brief wait, I was handed a fairly hefty takeout box from the friendly counter person. Omg, the tantalizing scents that was wafting from that box driving home to Shoreline! Once I arrived home and opened the box, I was amazed at the expertly wrapped, huge sandwich. Easily one sandwich could feed two or three people. It traveled well, unwrapped it, and dug in with that first bite. My Yelp tag line mentions dazzling flavors and wow did Noon Cafe deliver! All the contents held together and melded well. Fantastic! I shared this with The Homie and he too deemed the Bandari as tasty. I brought the leftovers the next day to work and surprisingly tasted even better. That combination of ingredients and what comprises their special spicy sauce really makes this unique, delicious find. So I would be very careful when eating here. We had ordered food to go for our office and unfortunately those who ate the pizza got very sick. One of us contacted the restaurant to let them know and they honestly couldn't care less it seemed. Their response on the phone was "yeah so?" & "maybe they just don't react well to the pizza". I was excited that they have added kabob to the menu, and ordered their bakhtiary kabob, which was supposed to be a skewer of chicken kabob and a skewer of chenjeh according to the menu. However, it ended up being a single skewer of half chicken and half chenjeh! Very small portion of kabob and mostly rice! For $36 it was very underwhelming, especially compared to other cafes in the area offering the same kind of food. If I knew it's a single skewer, I wouldn't have ordered this dish. The menu was deceiving for sure. I tried their pizza too, but the crust was sweet and dry, and the toppings were very heavy. For the same price, I've had much higher quality pizza with incredibly better ingredients elsewhere! Not to mention their yogurt drink had an unexpectedly fizzy taste, which was not described on the lable. It was unclear if it is self service or not. There was a server, but she only took the order and didn't bring utensils, plates or cups. They didn't even use compostable cups! All plastic!
