Stopped here for lunch passing through on our way up north. Everything was very good my patty melt was one of the best I've ever had. Hubby had the grain elevator and said it was very good. Jackie was our server they seamed a little under staffed, who isn't these days, she was good about letting us know she would be right back and making sure we knew she wasn't ignoring us. The old mill was built in 1870 used to be the largest buckwheat flour mill in the country. It has been beautifully restored into a restaurant and brewery. The food here is ok. Most of the ingredients come from Sysco or Gordon's and are frozen not fresh. The prices are fair considering its mostly frozen ingredients being put together or fried. When they first started brewing beer it was not good! Their beers tasted like sanitizer or soap. I must say their brewing has gotten much better with time. The staff is usually quite friendly. The owner comes and greets every table every time he's in. There is outdoor seating for the warmer months. I suggest ordering the grain elevator, which is a club sandwich. They do offer daily specials. read more

I can't believe we have never been here before...absolutely great! The staff was amazing, so friendly...the bartender made a point to recommend a few popular brews and also let us know that they also offered a full bar and wines. I had the Crazy Beaver Creme Ale - so good!!! They have an area that you can wait in with your beverage other than the bar while your waiting for your table. Our server was a doll, she was extremely knowledgeable about the entire menu, had tons of suggestions...the menu had so many great options it was hard to decide what to order. I ordered their special which was a grilled chicken and then beer battered fried sandwich so good! My husband had the fish and chips which I tasted and it tasted delicious! The owner came around to see if we enjoyed our meal...he was helping bus tables; that speaks volumes about a business owner, at least to me. He was very welcoming and thanked us for coming in! We will definitely be back! Now my Covid protocol part of my review...I loved that when we walked up they have a giant bottle of sanitizer with a sign that says "Please Sanitize"...Large sign on the door that says to please wear a mask. The only thing I was not sure of was whether or not they were seating at the distances recommended because it didn't look like tables were removed and there was no clear way of knowing whether they were seating at all the table as they didn't have them taped off...they had hostess seating. Our table was far enough away so I'm assuming they are doing a good! All the staff was wearing masks! The only 2 cautions for those who are very concerned and depending on your comfort level: They were not enforcing the few customers that came in without masks, our server has a tiny face and her mask kept sliding down...I felt bad for her...I wanted to ask for her email or phone number so I could send her the video I saw with the trick as to how make her mask fit she was a doll. read more

Wonderful atmosphere here and food is always good. Not a lot of seating so you might have to wait a while to get in but it's worth the wait.

We had the pub pickles and Buffalo cheese curds for appetizers and they were good. I had the California club and it was really good. My son had the shrimp basket and it was good. We visit here once a month or so. Always good food and service. Today's waitress was Kati R. She is top shelf. She knows the menu and always helpful. She was really hustling today during he lunch time rush. Still our order was right and fast service. Refilled drinks before empty or asked for. She's always a solid waitress. If your hungery for good food, reasonably priced and great service make the stop. They craft their own beer and I hear it's good, I just don't drink beer. Time to see my mother now that we're back in the States and see how she's doing. We took her to the Old Mill because it was near her home and we were curious about the restaurant, having heard from others that, in addition to Four Roses, it was a highlight of the town. We were seated very quickly. At 5 pm on a Tuesday, the place was a third full. There were tables but no booths - as well as seats at the bar. Some TVs overhead were silently playing an exhibition baseball game with the Sox and Royals. The Sox were slaughtering the pitiful Royals. There was a lot of rough hewn wood. I had the Rueben, my girl a French Dip, and my mother a BLT. My mother also had a cup of today's soup, which was a Chicken Vegetable. Every sandwich came with fries. I had the Island City IPA. My Rueben was barely serviceable. A sandwich advertised as having thin sliced protein should not contain slices thick as car mats. I've had better. My girl did not finish her French Dip - the beef was that grayish brown color that yells "I'm well done" rather than rare and pink - and the au jus was brown and tasteless. (I couldn't even detect the taste of salt when I sipped the brown liquid.) My mother did not finish her BLT, and grumbled, "How can anyone screw up a BLT?" Whomever had applied the mayonnaise had done so with a trowel. But the three of us liked the fries. My mother thought the soup had a peculiar taste; I thought it tasted like a chicken vegetable soup. Very good service (Jenna), decent fries, decent beer. The collection of Pez dispensers in the hallway heading to the restrooms is amazing - though my dinner companions saw the display cases and shrugged, looking back at me as if to say "Is this a thing?" - I suppose you have to have eaten Pez as a kid to appreciate the wacky beauty of the dispensers. Lots of food was served, but the three sandwiches were below average. Overall, a disappointment. So this restaurant doesn't earn a place on the list of restaurants we plan to frequent regularly in the future. read more

The old building is gorgeous. The food is really bad! For goodness sake! I ordered a BLT. When it arrived, it appeared as two pieces of toast, one placed on top of the other. On closer examination, it did have a piece of lettuce, a sad, orange slice of tomato a bout a millimeter thick and a couple slices of under cooked bacon. Terrible. The cheese soup was so thick it would crack a tortilla chip. This is no so much a restaurant as a shop that warms up packaged foods! read more

Beautiful building, great atmosphere! We decided to take the scenic route on our way home from Lake Michigan and decided to stop here for dinner and boy were we happy we did! We sat at the bar and met a two local couples and chatted while we ate. The beers were awesome! The tacos (today's special) and taco salad were both delicious! First of owner was extremely nice and talkative and gave us a tour of the entire place. Very impressed with his friendly demeanor and attitude. Now to the food and service. Service was a 5 - Abby was friendly attentive fast and cute! Food was a 4.6 - Had the depot dip which was very good tender especially with the onions and mushrooms. Had some really good to-go orders from here during the past two years. Also had a great late lunch while dining in today with my parents. Menu is smaller than what I remember (understandable) but now there are no Mexican style items. But the Buffalo chicken wrap was an excellent option. I love how they have a huge parking lot. I really loved the look of the building. It is very nice in there. Waiting for a seat on the other hand was a bit of a pain. I wish they had the upstairs opened up for you to eat there as well, they would make more money. The food is not too bad. It was not nothing special, but it was good. The wait staff seemed real nice, pretty funny as well. I am normally not into drinking beer from places like this, as I am used to Budweiser or Miller, but I had a nice beer there that they brewed, I was quite impressed. The owner has quite a huge display of PEZ dispensers next to the bathrooms, quite impressive I must say. It was cool looking at them all after dinner. This place was delicious! My husband has visited a few times before while traveling for work, but this was my first time trying it. Ample parking, clean, friendly staff. They had a really nice menu, plus specials. Lots of variety. Everything was reasonably priced as well. Our waitress was attentive and offered menu suggestions. We did have to wait a bit for a table, but we were able to grab drinks at the bar while we waited. I had Apple Bourbon Pork Chops with a baked potato and broccoli. The portion sizes were great. There were two decent sized boneless loin chops, a hearty helping of broccoli and a medium sized potato. Everything was cooked perfectly and presented nicely. My husband had a sandwich of some sort and house chips. I think our bill was less than $25 (before tip). I also loved the random Pez collection in the hallway by the bathroom. read more

So we're on vacation here from California and we have a ton of Brewpubs out their so it was awesome to know we had something like this near to where we were staying. I ordered The Feedbag burger and it was delicious! I also ordered two of the great beers they carried which were The Millie Vanillie and The Pumpkin Ale which were both delicious. Our waitress which I believe her name was Jenna made our visit here even more enjoyable!! We will definitely be coming back! PS loved the Pez dispensers! read more

This place is great. We came up, from Indiana for a weekend ski trip and found this gem. Food was really good. Amazing beers to choose from and the staff was super friendly. The awesome bartender even did the leaning salt shaker trick for my daughter. The Building is an amazing old mill and is really well built. They also have a crazy pez collection. A must see!!! This is a former grain mill turned Brewpub. The interior and exterior are beautiful, and there's lots of parking. Once we got inside, we were greeted immediately, and we chose to sit at the bar.
