We finally were able to visit this past weekend and were very impressed with the relaxing openness of the café and the delicious specialty coffees being served. One of the main frustrations with visiting the GFR in town was the lack of public parking, but the new café has a huge private parking lot to accommodate all their customers. Upon entering the café, there are multiple seating areas from tables, chairs, and benches, to couches and low tables. The variety enables the customer to choose what type of experience they would like to enjoy and due to the large space, everyone can be spread out and not cramped with others. The interior is locally decorated and features various craft items from around the area. Now to the coffee! DELICIOUS! They are using Little Amps' beans, which is my favorite coffee shop in HBG! With a base of Little Amps beans the drinks can only get better from there. They have a nice variety of specialty coffee drinks, smoothies, and non-caffeinated options. On this visit we tried the Mocha La Abuelita, which was out of this world. It was a mocha, but used Mexican chocolate, that adds a unique flavor when combined with the cinnamon and expresso. My mouth is watering as I type this! They do have a limited food menu of a variety of paninis and regularly feature homemade baked goods from local artisan bakers. Guante Café fills a void in the Juniata county area for those who want high quality coffees in a relaxing environment. They are even open on Sundays!! I look forward to see what the future will bring with this amazing new place!

The chocolate bear was VERY decadent. It honestly could have been dessert for 3 for it's richness. The service was mediocre. No smiles. Once you go inside, though, there's a good amount of seating available. The space is really cute and nicely decorated. One of the standout features is a fun swing-style table seat, along with booths and regular seating, which makes it a fun place to sit and enjoy dessert or coffee. Their menu has a great variety of options, including coffees, specialty drinks, and a wide range of desserts, so there's plenty to choose from if you're visiting with friends or family. The staff was friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. For desserts, I tried the mango mousse dessert (the one shaped like a mango). It had a unique texture compared to a typical cake or pastry, but the mango flavor was really good. I also tried the chocolate teddy bear dessert. It was very rich and definitely for chocolate lovers. For me it was a bit heavy on the chocolate, but it wasn't bad at all. Overall, it was a nice experience and I would definitely go back to try some of the other desserts and drinks they offer.
