Jennifer told me that I would have to manually enter the gift card number myself. I asked, "I have to do it?" and she simply replied, "Yes." As a mom carrying my 8-month-old daughter in one arm, having to manually enter the entire gift card number on the keypad was extremely inconvenient. Shopping at a children's store means many customers are parents who already have their hands full. Requiring customers to complete this step themselves feels inefficient and frustrating. If this is Carter's policy, I hope the company reconsiders it. At the very least, self-checkout would make much more sense in situations like this. What disappointed me most was that when I expressed how inconvenient the process was, Jennifer laughed and then got on her phone as I walked out of the store. That response made me feel dismissed rather than valued as a customer. I love Carter's products, but experiences like this make me question whether it's worth shopping in-store when I can purchase the same items at stores like Macy's or Kohl's and receive better customer service.

When you walk into the store, you'll notice that this place is very organized. The girls clothing are on the left and the boys clothing are on the right. It's also setup by the age of the child as well. So newborns are in the front and the further you go down, the higher the age. They also have some toys in here as well and that's in the middle of the store. This place is in a plaza with a bunch of parking spots so you shouldn't have any issues. The stuff here will vary on prices so just be aware of that.

The women working the cashier was very helpful with my wife and tried to find the exact pant that she wanted in a different size. On a positive note: they still hem their overly long items for FREE! They have items on sale racks and have been around since 1966. Store was easy to navigate and was SUPER CLEAN!!! Quality along with fabric and comfort is above and beyond ones expectations. My return met every reasonable expectation of a valid return--the items were brand new, unworn, with all tags attached, and the return fell within the 90-day timeframe. Yet, I was subjected to three separate, baseless obstructions, demonstrating a clear intent to prevent a lawful refund: First Obstruction - Fabricated $200 Return Limit The employee falsely claimed that returns over $200 could not be processed, despite no such limitation appearing in Carter's official return policy or printed receipts. When I clarified that my return was only for approximately $130, she reluctantly proceeded, already demonstrating bad faith in handling valid returns. Second Obstruction - False Claim That I Had to Be "In the System" She then claimed that I could not process a return because I was not registered in Carter's system, an arbitrary and undisclosed requirement. No written policy supports this pre-registration mandate, nor was it disclosed at the time of purchase--a clear violation of California's Consumer Legal Remedies Act (CLRA) (Cal. Civ. Code § 1750 et seq.), which prohibits imposing return restrictions not disclosed at the time of sale. Under California Civil Code § 2338, Carter's is fully liable for the wrongful acts of its employees performed within the course of employment. Problem-solving and policy enforcement are fundamental duties of a store manager--if she is unable or unwilling to perform them, she is unqualified for the role. 2. Improperly Shifting the Burden Onto the Consumer - Violating Consumer Rights Rather than acknowledging the issue and taking responsibility, she improperly placed the burden on me, stating that I must personally call customer service to resolve the issue. Required me to return to the store again to yet another time attempt to rectify a purely internal malfunction issue. This was not my obligation in the first place, and Carter's employee should have been fully aware of that. 3. At this point, this is no longer purely a question of monetary damages, as the refund amount is negligible compared to the blatant consumer law violations and the emotional distress caused. The real issue is Carter's failure to uphold consumer protection laws and the harm inflicted upon customers through outright misrepresentation of policies, humiliation, and undue procedural burdens. Carter's employs undertrained staff who clearly lack the necessary knowledge of corporate policies and consumer protection laws. These employees must be educated on the legal consequences of their words and actions, which are directly attributable to Carter's as a corporate entity. 4. This Issue May Be a Widespread Problem - Potential Class Action Liability It is highly likely that this employee has treated other customers the same way, particularly those unaware of their legal rights. Many consumers may have suffered financial harm, emotional distress, or undue procedural burdens as a result of similar misconduct and deceptive practices.

Then decided to look more but I was overwhelmed with the amount of people and the noise so I went to line up for the register. The line was getting long and there were only 3 registers. Jeez!! I waited for like forever. There were employees on the floor restocking which is a good one but at least 1 or 2 could have lend a hand at the register.
