Never had a bad bottle of wine from them and I'm a wine, beer, whiskey snob, so my tastes are very fine.

Ask the Community - Old Oak Cellars

Are they open on Sundays? Is the appointments for outside or inside?

    Do they serve cocktails too?

No, only red and white wines. Appointments are required and they inconveniently only open on the third Saturday each month.

Our experiences have always been good. It's a quaint wine shop with a nice selection of varietals, blends, and even a few craft beers. Lucy (owner), Pattie, Nina, and the rest of the staff are friendly and accommodating, making you feel like family. On occasion, they'll also have live music. We really enjoy Monopole and recommend you check them out when you're in the area.

Montrose has long been a wonderful destination for shopping and this was their first ever Wine Walk! I really love walking around Montrose with a beer in my hand during their famous Oktoberfest so when the Wine Walk folks offered me a free ticket to a Wine Walk of course I said hell ya! Grab a glass, walk down Honolulu and sip away! The Wine Walk was a wonderful event including very generous pours of amazing wines including Fess Parker and Mumms. Each ticket entitles its owner to 15 one ounce pours which is actually quite a lot. I could only use half of mine ! It's also a super way to find out about new businesses in the area. For example, I had no idea that Casa Cordova has a gift shop! And it's lovely. While this is the inaugural Montrose Wine Walk, I certainly hope they have another one because it was really fun and a super idea.

There were 31 pouring stations throughout the Montrose Shopping Park. There were some appetizers, which was a nice treat to go with the wine tastings. Thanks to this event, I walked into shops that I never knew existed! Casa Cordoba had some eats. Montrose Candy gave out some samples of candy. I also got a certificate for $10!! We used it to get something to eat. TY also for the shopping bag. Some were lucky to get a free wine glass. LUCKY!! Plenty of free parking. Looking forward to attending again.

Glad I did as I now declare Mission as my official neighborhood fine spiritsl dealer. When you first walk in, you'll notice that it looks a lot bigger than the outside and it's super clean and neat. You'd be hard-pressed to find a more spotless, organized establishment. Everything is pretty easy to find, and there's a lot to choose from, even a few things I couldn't find from the other two big spirit franchisers. And they don't only just sell alcohol, but they have a large, enclosed area for expensive cigars. Price-wise, I think it's about average. Some bottles I was looking for were a little over than what I've seen, and some others were just a bit under. So if you're looking for a real bargain here, probably not. But you will find some hard-to-find bottles here for sure. I will note that this is probably not a beginner-friendly store. There really isn't anyone around to ask questions, save for the folks working the counter - and they're all business it seems. It's more of a self-service spot for sure. Other than that, it's a good place to browse and check out. Happy hunting!

This Thanksgiving week reminded me why I love Mission Wines, Chris, and the staff-- I was in a hurry and so I bought wine at Bristol Farms. It was a winery I'd bought before, I looked at the online ratings for the wine and seemed solid Got it home and meh. I said to myself -- next time I'm just letting Chris and his team pick my wines that way no mistakes or off years for me. With so many wineries -- no way I can keep up. Missions Wines is like a sommelier shop on that there is something excellent at each price point -- bottles under $20 will be terrific. And gift bottles will be special They are no adding high end spirits -- I bought a special Armenian brandy there for a friend that I could not find anywhere else Trust them to pick your wine unless you're an expert and your friends and family will think you've got the best taste ever!

They recently opened a tasting room in Highland Park, so I stopped in to check it out. The tasting room is quaint & cozy. They offer three curated tastings: Monthly special ($27), Reserve ($40) or Library ($20) or you can order by the glass. I selected the Library Tasting. I'll be honest, I'm not a huge fan of reds but these were excellent. My tasting consisted of a Grenache (2017), a Syrah (2017), Alicante Bouschet (2017), & Evenfall (2016). Each one was well balanced, the notes were lovely, and the finish was smooth. During my tasting I had a wonderful conversation with Al & Mark. Al recently started working here, and she has amazing energy. Mark is also very personable and enthusiastic about his wine. He let me try some of the Anonymous, which is a secret blend and listed as "Origin & Vintage Unknown." It was fantastic! After trying Byron Blatty Wines, I'm now a fan of reds. I even bought a bottle to take home. I will most definitely be back to enjoy more of these delicious wines and an enjoyable conversation with Al.
