In early July 2026 we had Proper Hour Home Services help us with pre-installation work for a new…read morerefrigerator. As always, Proper Hour Home Services were very easy to work with and did a fantastic job at a great price! Our new fridge was too tall for our cabinet space, so needed to cut about 1 1/4 inches from top lip. We also had a long copper tubing run connecting filtered water to our old fridge ice maker. Since Lowe's installation doesn't work with copper tubing and requires a valve to hook up the ice maker line, we needed the copper tubing cut and a valve added to the new end. Ihor from PHHS came and did an excellent job on both tasks! He was able to detach the cabinet lip and cut it outside, so we never heard the loud sawing we expected :-). After installing the cut lip, it measured just right with a little room to space. He cut the copper tubing very cleanly after turning off the water main and installed and tested the valve he bought at Home Depot. Ihor also put down plastic before the work and did a great cleanup job. Our new fridge fit perfectly in the cabinet space and Lowe's installers had a very simple, smooth hookup of the ice maker line to the new valve with their ice maker line installation kit we bought with the fridge. When that job was done, I decided to have his team repair the garage slab that was sunk. Again, his team did a great job. Now all is well.

As someone who performs a lot of work on my own house, I'm very selective in who works on my home. For starters, our San Jose home was built in 1904 and was years overdue to have a new roof put on. Tony was responsive, thorough, respectful and paid attention to every detail. He explained materials in a way that allowed us to make the best choice. Not only that, they were the most affordable company by far and the work they performed was best-in-class. His family-run company was also the hardest working crew I have ever seen. They tore off 2 old layers of shingles, replaced anything that had dry rot, got into the attic and reinforced sections that were sagging, installed heat-reflective underlayment and shingles and even re-painted sections of the roof. They even got into the attic and cleaned up any material that dropped through, something other contractors said they wouldn't do. I can't say enough good things about this company and crew. I figured I'd give them a…read moretry for installing an adding a mini split addition to supplement hot/cold spots in my kitchen. Not only did they not listen to my needs, the whole time they offered solutions that cater to what they want instead of what I want. 1. They recommend dual zoning which cost about the same amount as installing a new mini split. I have a single state HVAC which isn't recommended for dual zone install. 2. They keep pushing for fixing/upgrading central instead of installing mini splits. 3. They keep asking for my budget (red flag), talking up high end units (red flag), talking down low end units (red flag). Look, we all know Mitsubishi and Daikin are the top of the line. However, the cost of DOUBLE of the price of lower end models isn't due to just superior quality and technology. Heat pumps and mini splits are not new technology. One isn't vastly superior to another. Yes, it may be better, but not double the price better. The cost are always due to the commissions and kickbacks for these installers. That's marketing and salesmanship, but please be more transparent next time. Finally, I asked for quotes and options so I can decide. The person walked away disappointed and I suspect they think they lost a sale because of the way I did not want the highest end models and stayed firm with my mini split request. I sensed the guy walked away disappointed. Yet I still expected a courtesy quote like the other installers. They never sent it. I was not surprised. In the end, I decided that a whole system upgrade to mini-splits (30% more efficient just from being ductless alone) with rebates made more sense instead of add ons to existing system. But these guys did help me cross them off the list and went with the installer who actually listened to my needs and gave the recommendation and options that I wanted. I do not recommend these guys. They will push for the highest cost system and will ghost you if you appear to be knowledgeable enough to call them out on it.
