When we first arrived, I was concerned that there would be traffics noise at night. However, the traffic was non-existent from 11pm- 7am and so we had a quiets night rest. It was actually the best night of sleep I've had in a really long time because the bed and pillows were soooo comfortable. The house itself had so many cool features. Ask for the Tour! The hosts, James and Rhonda, did not miss any detail from the coffee to the toiletries to the linens. If you are looking for a place to stay in Granbury with unique history and modern amenities, This is the place! We will definitely be back and bring friends with us!

The history that accompanies the home along with the condition of the original decor is outstanding. We were able to spend a few nights, the beds were so comfortable. The furnishings are well above average. I would highly recommend a visit to this historic home. You will be amazed at what this home has to offer. Very comfortable along with a great location, about 2 minutes from the square. We will be visiting this home on a regular getaway basis. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

My husband and I were part of the kitchen/meal crew and stayed in the Gathering House. The kitchen was quite well-stocked and the extra fridge around the corner + extra storage space was much needed. We did have to bring some of our own equipment but we were thoroughly prepared to do so because Gathering Oaks provided all the information about what was available at the retreat center ahead of time. The sound proofing isn't the greatest in the main house for those staying in the ground floor rooms, but that didn't really end up mattering too much since I'm a pretty deep sleeper. Those who wake up more easily from loud noises may not have as easy a time staying in one of the bedrooms in the Gathering House. The facilities are all very well kept and the kids had a great time with the outdoor activities and the fire pit at night. Would definitely consider Gathering Oaks in the future for smaller retreats (about 40-60 people max).

However, on the listing it mentions there are no hidden fees. This is the first place with a hot tub that had it replaced with a cold tub. As it turns out, they want an add-on cost of $100.00 to turn the heat on the hot tub. I am sure there is an excuse, but it is probably ridiculous since this is not an industry standard.

We got so lucky to have a bunch of rain before our stay and the kids played in the creek all weekend, chasing frogs and crayfish. Waterfall was incredible. Cabin was super clean, with great amenities we didn't expect - just perfect. The owners were over the top sweet and even texted us pics of the kids playing in the creek. Of course we did the Fossil Rim trip and Dinosaur Valley stop while we were here. We will 100% make this an annual visit.

Our cabin was really nice and clean.The pool was relaxing and very short walk from our cabin. The Hideaway has plenty of activities (fishing,horseback riding,hiking and stargaze)that you can plan for if you have the time which I highly recommend. The nights at Hideaway Ranch are very quiet and the stars on clear nights were breath taking. Morning breakfast at Hideaway Ranch The Buffalo Nickel was very good. The staff were also very polite and they had some time to talk to us about some of the history of the ranch. We were very happy with the hospitality that was shown to us by all the staff. We look forward to our next visit and hope to make Hideaway Ranch a family tradition to visit. Thank you Hideaway Ranch for such a great memorable time.

There are more cons then pros , just our opinion…read more Our cabin needed a deep clean, the water was VERY cool (far from hot), the air condition in the room was not cold (filter needed a deep clean), there was bugs and the hot tub had lots of leaves. Pros were it is in the middle of no where, quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Had the thugs above been fixed we would be back. For $360 for two nights, strictly my opinion.. we won't be back.

Recently, I had the chance to stay at Moon River Ranch, and it was a great experience. The ranch is located near Waco, and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. One of my favorite things about the ranch was getting to help with the animals. I've always loved animals, and it was great to get to spend some time working with them. The 3bedroom house was very clean and the rustic log cabin look made us feel like we were truly on a ranch. The safari ride was so fun and the animals were out and several came Up to the hummer we were riding in..the hayride was an experience as we soaked in the gorgeous sunset! I reserved a 1BR cabin for 3 nights. I was charged immediately for the full stay after being told…read moreit would be later. They changed my reservation without my knowledge to a lodge room. I was unaware of this until after the deadline for free cancelation. Upon learning this two weeks before my stay, I tried to contact them via phone and e-mail, never a response. I guess they never intended to make it right. We did not go!! They ruined my 35th Wedding Anniversary!! DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE, GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY THEY WILL SCAM YOU WITHOUT EVEN TRYING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. We wanted to cook out, fish, drink coffee on the porch, watch sunsets etc. Not possible in a lodge room! They wanted a review this is it! I would have given them 0 if possible.
