Glen Rose, Texas is known worldwide for its dinosaur tracks and fossils, plus Native American artifacts!!

Gorgeous Paluxy River view & property, super friendly hosts (2 & 4 legged!), delicious breakfast, comfortable quiet rooms, historic quaint town...what's not to love? I could feel the peace settling into my soul from the moment we walked through the front door. Thank you for a lovely & restful work/family getaway! We will definitely be back.

Newly renovated Inn on the River in Glen Rose, TX and Snyder's Tavern. A must visit and stay a while!

Inn on the River in Glen Rose , TX has taken advantage of the closure due to the pandemic and renovated this historic landmark. You must come by and meet the newest member of Inn on the River...Snyder's Tavern. You will experience amazing libations and gourmet cuisine with fresh made sauces that add to each meal. The detail given to each entrée is important to them and you will find a wide variety to the menu that will also accommodates special dietary needs. The 20 plus rooms are comfy with featherbed toppers to each bed. The decorated to period rooms are cozy and make this historic inn special. You will not find clock, phones or TV's in the rooms. The goal here is to unwind, unplug and relax. But, Snyder's Tavern didn't forget you sports fans, TV included for that special game.

You can't resist this face. Greeted us from a long day of hiking.

What a relaxing stay! Everyone, including the furry ones, were so friendly and went out of their way to make us feel at home. Pam and Scott made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. The room was clean and comfy. Our favorite part of the trip was sitting on the patio of the tavern, enjoying a bottle of wine from Snyder's Tavern, good conversation and watching the river roll by. Awww...I can't wait to go back!

I have to say that I was skeptical about how much I would like the Inn. I am generally a shiny, new contemporary style girl when it comes to hotels. I have never slept better than at Inn on the River. The French feather beds were magical. I can't explain how comfortable they are!! And I could control the air in my room. No matter the price of the hotel (I've stayed at 2 that were 5 star hotels in the past month), they generally turn the air off in the middle of the night. It wakes me up and I never sleep the rest of the night. I like a cold room when I sleep and I had air all night at the Inn. The rooms were immaculate. I was in the Inn all day as the rooms were being cleaned and I saw how much time and effort they put in to each room. It is amazing how well they clean each and every inch of the place. Then there is the staff. They are unbelievably courteous and friendly. You feel just the right amount of interaction. And you always feel that they are genuinely thrilled to have you there and be allowed to host you. It makes you feel very at home. Breakfast is included with your room and it is so good!! I had to ask if everything was made on site because it was absolutely a 5 star breakfast. It is made on site and they clearly have an amazing chef. We also had a dinner catered for our group and it was one of the best meals I've had anywhere. I practically licked the balsamic dressing off of my plate. I asked and found out that their chef makes all of the dressings from scratch. I would love to see them bottle it, I would take it home with me!! Then the meal was cordon bleu with asparagus and carrots. I don't even like carrots and I ate every one of them!!! That was topped off with homemade apple pie. I had a cup of coffee with the dessert and it was the best coffee I've ever had. Overall, I would rather visit Inn on the River than just about any other place I've been. I feel relaxed and rejuvenated which is what you should feel after a vacation.

Inn on the River is simply amazing! Covid craziness completely blew up our wedding plans and resulted in us having a home-town ceremony at our house with just our parents and children. But we still wanted our wedding day to be special, and Inn on the River came through! I checked in Saturday afternoon so my mom, step-daughter and I could get ready in the room. Pam was there to make sure we had everything we needed. We took a few pictures on the beautiful riverbank and at the singing tree before heading home for the ceremony. My husband and I returned to our room after a lovely dinner at Riverhouse Grill (deeelish!) to a freshly cleaned room (after I made a mess getting ready), a bottle of wine and a lovely congratulatory card. We had a wonderful breakfast before heading out and again, Pam made sure we had everything we needed. We had a wonderful day and the team at Inn on the River helped make it a beautiful and memorable occasion!

Great place to spend a nice, relaxing weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The rooms were quiet and quaint, and the entire facility was well maintained and clean. The bed was super comfy in our room. Breakfast was delicious and Pam and the other staff members were very helpful.

Picked up a Cobb salad with grilled chicken. The chicken had been grilled and refrigerated. It was very dry and I was very disappointed.

Parking on the left side of the house/cafe, walking up the handicap-accessible ramp...the porch itself is a wonder to behold with at least three swings and a few small tables. Current food and drink offerings are posted on an old door propped against a corner by the entry. I was overwhelmed with the flavor combinations, delighted by the branding of the shop, and knew I'd be making a big purchase--not being local and rarely traveling through Hico, TX we had to sample what is on offer from savory to sweet! Hico, TX has a real treasure right here ya'll! Honey lavender latte (seasonal), ham and gruyere muffin, and molasses cookies won the day for me! My partner agreed that of the three items I purchased for him, if only permitted to order one item again, it would be the molasses cookie! Similar to my aunt and grandma's chewy molasses cookie recipe, I was instantly transported to nostalgialand - grandma's kitchen or a ramshackle old cottage we used to reunion at--surrounded by relatives. Every bite filling me with goodness, warmth, and love! This is a spot I would frequent were I local to Hico--proudly sharing this beauty and its offerings with guests and purchasing goodies for office/special gatherings. If you're traveling down the road like we were, looking for a nice local coffee and something warm and delicious to eat, look no further. This is a MUST STOP.

It's right next door to where the address on the Yelp Page will take you, but it is formerly the "Bakeshop." The staff mentioned to us the former building/house was being renovated to become an AirBnB or something. We were looking forward to patio seating given we had our pup with us, but the restaurant didn't have any, so we opted for drive-thru. The restaurant itself has a small parking lot. The woman who took our order was very kind and informative, as mentioned previously. I ordered an "Iced Latte with White Chocolate" and ordered the "Breakfast Burrito," which contained sausage, scrambled eggs, and cheese. The latte was good, creamy and sweet with the WC flavoring. The burrito was also good, not amazing, but good! I should have ordered 2 of them, it wasn't too big, so keep that in mind. The cheese was melted inside and the sausage was super flavorful. There was a section of my burrito in which the sausage was actually cold, which took me by surprise, but other than that it was good. Pricing was decent for what we ordered. We would come back if we were driving through again!!

First, this is not an all-inclusive venue. Many items are charged separately, including linens, use of the TV, AV equipment, and even certain rooms like the back room. These additional costs can add up quickly, so I recommend asking for a full breakdown of fees in advance. I also want to mention the policy regarding security officers. When I booked, I was told the officer requirement would be at the manager's discretion. I communicated multiple times that my event would end by 6 PM. However, I was still required to pay for an officer through 10 PM, even though the event ended much earlier. While I understand policies are in place, this was unexpected and felt unfair based on prior communication. One policy to be aware of is that open flames are not allowed. I was able to adjust without issue, but it's something to plan for ahead of time. Overall, the space itself is nice, but I strongly recommend getting clear, written confirmation of all fees, policies, and requirements before booking to avoid surprises.

I arrived to my room and noticed there was a swarm of gnats in my bathroom sink. I killed them with a napkin and wasn't too worried about it, I was just here for one night so some gnats I figured I could deal with. I was short on time and had to leave for a wedding so I wasn't in the room all evening. When I got back from the wedding, I went to the bathroom and noticed even more gnats plus a HUGE spider in the corner of my bathroom in between the toilet and shower. It was probably close to golf ball size or bigger. I have bad arachnophobia so I'm dramatic and can't get myself to even look at or kill spiders let alone get one out of my room myself. I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep knowing the spider could move to my room so I closed the door and tried calling the front desk but received no answer. I then walked down the hall but noticed no one was at the front desk. I was unable to use my bathroom that night and had to get up super early to leave the hotel because I couldn't sleep. I went to the pool bathroom before I left and there was a small spider in that bathroom as well. No one was at the front desk when I went to leave either. The room wasn't super clean, there was a big stain on the ground near the desk. It was LOUD, I could hear every stomp and step down the hall up above me and outside my door and all of the doors slam super loud as well. My door made an awful high pitched loud squeak sound every time I opened or closed it. Wasn't the worst stay of all time but definitely not somewhere I would choose to stay again.
