Everyone was so nice. The breakfast was Delicious Nice and peaceful. It was convenient having the tavern close.

Countless times the wife and I have passed through Glen Rose wanting to stay and visit. We finally made the time this past weekend and luckily there was availability at Inn on the River. Pam and Scott are excellent hosts and will make your stay enjoyable. The Inn is a historic building and as such has a lot of charm, the grounds are well kept with the back of the property bordering the Paluxy river. Also at the back of the property overlooking the Paluxy is Snyder's Tavern where lunch, dinner and drinks are served. In the morning you'll get to enjoy breakfast in the dining room which is included in the cost of your stay. One thing to note is that the rooms do not feature TV's which was not a big deal to us. A comfortable bed and private bathroom should be mentioned. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning. read more

SOOOO!! Disappointed. Maybe our expectations were set too high due to a local retailers opinion. But after a few day of reflection that food was absolutely the fail!! Lovely place to stay in Glen Rose. My room was clean, quaintly decorated and furnished, and comfortable. Just perfect after a long day working at a horse show at the county Expo Center. The staff in the tavern couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating, and were spot on in their wine recommendations and suggestions. We brought the show judges back Saturday night for dinner and everyone throughly enjoyed their meal, giving it high marks. The owner, Pam even provided my friend and I a breakfast sandwich to take with us each morning, as we had to be out the door before the breakfast service started. This is a lovely establishment operated by dedicated people that care about their community and their customers. And as an added bonus, if you are a dog lover, the Inn's four legged employees did and excellent job of making everyone feel at home. read more

Great place to stay! All of the staff is so friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and cozy. Lots of outdoor seating to choose from to sit and enjoy the peaceful scenery and gather round for games. Pam and Scott went out of their ways to make sure our stay was nothing less than perfect. To be honest we will go back again and again just to hang out with them some more! Loved having the guest dogs as well as resident pups running around. Breakfast every morning was delicious and the food and drink at Snyder's Tavern is amazing! Easy walk to the square for shopping as well as the Somervelle County Museum. If you're looking for a place to go and spend a relaxing weekend, I can't recommend this place enough. They take care of everything and the whole staff is genuinely interested in making sure your stay in this adorable town is everything you want it to be. Even their dog is great! The owners are so personable and fun. The breakfast is delicious and exactly what you need to get your day going strong. If they have their salsa verde, make sure you get some. It's sooooo good. The rooms are adorable. The bed was super comfortable. Breakfast is about the only thing that got me out of it! The whole vibe of this place is just to relax. You can sit by the river and just sit (take them up on their cans of bug spray, though). There are games and a pool (granted, the pool wasn't up and running during our stay, but we didn't mind) for fun as well. We definitely plan on being regulars here, and as much as I want to keep this gem as a secret all to myself, I have to give praise where it is due. We loved our time here. read more

I have to say that I was skeptical about how much I would like the Inn. I am generally a shiny, new contemporary style girl when it comes to hotels. I have never slept better than at Inn on the River. The French feather beds were magical. I can't explain how comfortable they are!! And I could control the air in my room. No matter the price of the hotel (I've stayed at 2 that were 5 star hotels in the past month), they generally turn the air off in the middle of the night. It wakes me up and I never sleep the rest of the night. I like a cold room when I sleep and I had air all night at the Inn. The rooms were immaculate. I was in the Inn all day as the rooms were being cleaned and I saw how much time and effort they put in to each room. It is amazing how well they clean each and every inch of the place. Then there is the staff. They are unbelievably courteous and friendly. You feel just the right amount of interaction. And you always feel that they are genuinely thrilled to have you there and be allowed to host you. It makes you feel very at home. Breakfast is included with your room and it is so good!! I had to ask if everything was made on site because it was absolutely a 5 star breakfast. It is made on site and they clearly have an amazing chef. We also had a dinner catered for our group and it was one of the best meals I've had anywhere. I practically licked the balsamic dressing off of my plate. I asked and found out that their chef makes all of the dressings from scratch. I would love to see them bottle it, I would take it home with me!! Then the meal was cordon bleu with asparagus and carrots. I don't even like carrots and I ate every one of them!!! That was topped off with homemade apple pie. I had a cup of coffee with the dessert and it was the best coffee I've ever had. Overall, I would rather visit Inn on the River than just about any other place I've been. I feel relaxed and rejuvenated which is what you should feel after a vacation. read more

Inn on the River is simply amazing! Covid craziness completely blew up our wedding plans and resulted in us having a home-town ceremony at our house with just our parents and children. But we still wanted our wedding day to be special, and Inn on the River came through! I checked in Saturday afternoon so my mom, step-daughter and I could get ready in the room. Pam was there to make sure we had everything we needed. We took a few pictures on the beautiful riverbank and at the singing tree before heading home for the ceremony. My husband and I returned to our room after a lovely dinner at Riverhouse Grill (deeelish!) to a freshly cleaned room (after I made a mess getting ready), a bottle of wine and a lovely congratulatory card. We had a wonderful breakfast before heading out and again, Pam made sure we had everything we needed. We had a wonderful day and the team at Inn on the River helped make it a beautiful and memorable occasion! read more

I wanted to stay in a quaint little town and stumbled upon Glen Rose in my google search. The facility is adorable but it was the hotel's dogs in the lobby that sold me. Upon arriving, you will be greeted by the owner (Pam) who is nothing short of sweet mixed with adorable, fun, and warm presence. We brought two kids at age 5. We took them kayaking and let them run in the grass and throw the dogs balls. They had so much fun. After shopping downtown which is on the same block, we had dinner at the Inn which was great food with a beautiful view. The rooms are so cute and bed was comfy. The next morning, we received a home cooked breakfast and delicious coffee. This will be a stay I make regularly. Can't recommend this Inn enough! Thanks for an awesome time! read more

It was a great place to relax after an afternoon of hiking at Dinosaur Park and seeing all the animals at Fossil Rim. The staff was very friendly and inviting. It was dog friendly, so several people had their pets with them. There were even some dog toys set out for them. The inn was surprising quite even with the wooden floors. There was a really nice outdoor area and nice big porch facing the river. They served a good breakfast the following morning. read more

Keep in mind this establishment is currently being renovated so not all the pics shown on their website reflect the true state of all facilities. I was a bit disappointed initially as my room was not properly represented on their website. However, the bed and linens were quite heavenly, which was exactly what was needed after a day at Dinosaur Park and hanging out outside by the river. There are no TVs in the rooms themselves (but there are two in the tavern and they do offer reliable Wi-Fi), but they do provide a closet full of games, puzzles, books, etc. to enjoy while there. We found the on-site tavern food to be unimpressive, over-priced, and, well, left a lot to be desired. But, our overall experience with the tavern was very good, as all the staff were very friendly and attentive (even provided bug spray and hydrocortisone cream). The atmosphere there was lively but relaxing. They do offer on-site HOT breakfast, which is included with your stay, from waffles, eggs, etc. that they serve to you. It all smelled yummy, but was unable to enjoy due to dietary issues. I heard a lot of good comments though. Overall, the grounds were therapeutic and relaxing, the dogs will make you smile (will even escort you to your room), and has small-town charm. If looking for a good place to unplug, unwind, and reconnect, book your stay. And don't forget to visit the historic down-town square just outside your door :-) read more

This is a great place for a fun family vacation. The rooms are well appointed, the AC was very strong and the bed was great. We were greeted right when we got there and made to feel welcome. We spent the afternoon enjoying the cooler weather out by the river. They had a number of games and activities too choose from. We ended up playing cards and taking it easy. This is a perfect getaway. If your a local or passing through, the Snyder's Tavern has amazing food. Simple menu but hard not to order everything on it. Ericka was really on top of things. The Inn has an ambiance that calms your soul. The grounds overlook the river. I came across duck, armadillos, cranes, and various birds. The owners were so welcoming and really go out of the way to make you feel at home. Anything we needed such as wine glasses, ice, you name it, they were happy to oblige. Stayed here on a business trip and loved it. Beautiful 100 year old house with a gorgeous view of the river. Glen rose is a great little town and this is just a few miles from fossil rim park. The new owner is very nice and shared great history of the house. The owner has a wonderful lab who is sweet as can be. Highly recommend this place and we will be back. read more

It's a shame that I have to leave one star. Negative 20 would be more appropriate for the lying owner of this place. Approximately 6 months ago my fiancée and I entered into a verbal agreement for this place to prepare some of the food for our wedding reception. With less than 2 weeks before the date, Inn on the River reneged on the agreement, forcing my fiancée and I to find a last minute caterer at an exhorbatant cost and additionally rendering all food purchased useless. My husband and I just returned from a spur of the moment weekend getaway to Glen Rose, Tx. We stayed at the Inn on the River B&B and had a wonderful time. Our room was spacious, with a private bath and the food was amazing. The entire staff were so friendly and accommodating. Pam, the owner, took the time to sit down with us and answer the many questions we had about the area. She shared with us the unique history of the Inn and some interesting information about how they sheltered over 200 local residents and their pets, during Snowmageddon in Feb, 2021. The Inn is only about a block from the downtown area where there are several cute shops, including an old-fashioned soda fountain. We spent the evenings playing cards/dominoes and sitting out on the back deck listening to the cicadas. Unfortunately, due to a drought, the Paluxy river behind the Inn was mostly dried up. However, Pam directed us to Wheeler Branch Park, which was a wonderful 180 acre non-motorized watercraft lake where you could kayak, paddleboard or jump into the water from the 2 platforms. The lake itself was clean and cool and it had multiple pavilions with grills. It was very relaxing and we're looking forward to taking our grandchildren out there in the future. One other fun thing we did while we were in Glen Rose was to go to the Creation Science Museum. It was very interesting and worth a visit. If you ever need a quiet, relaxing place to stay in Glen Rose, we would highly recommend Inn on the River. read more

The food was not great but everything else was fantastic, so I'm giving them a 4. The food arrived cold but they reheated it. They were still trying to figure out how to get the food from the kitchen at the hotel down to the restaurant while still hot. Hopefully they have a solution for this now. The servers were really nice and very accommodating of our group of 7 that included 3 kids. The best part was a fire pit outside by the river and a grassy area. The kids ran around and the adults drank wine and met other hotel guests. A very talented guy was playing guitar and singing. It was a very pleasant evening! read more

I wanted to stay at a non-chain place on a recent visit to Glen Rose. Inn on the River worked out really well. A nice place on the banks of the Paluxy River, it's a short block or so away from the town square. The Inn has a dinner room that is open on weekend evenings with a fixed menu that looks interesting. I didn't reserve my meal in advance so couldn't try it. My room was compact but everything one might want for a short visit. Free wifi was a plus. No musty smells like often found in older B&B/inns. The feather bed was a bit soft but I slept OK. The only downside was the rather uncaring manager lady - she stayed in her office when I checked in and out, not coming to the reception desk which was a bit weird (I stood at the reception for almost 10 minutes before I saw her sitting in her office). I'd stay here again (avoiding the La Quinta...) if I am back in the area. read more

Picked up a Cobb salad with grilled chicken. The chicken had been grilled and refrigerated. It was very dry and I was very disappointed.

I will definitely be back here. Pam has a passion for her business and it shows. The first thing that she asked me was what did I want out of my experience . I told her quiet and solitude. She then asked me how she could pamper me during my visit. I was left alone when I needed it, and pampered when I needed it. I also had great conversation when I needed it. The best thing was her fabulous cooking. The breakfasts were great and they have a restaurant and full bar open Thursday-Sunday nights. She is also the chef for this. Everyone I talked to said their meal was wonderful. I highly recommend Inn on the River. You don't want to miss it!!!! read more
