My elderly mom has a lot of accounts here and we stopped in the lobby to try to straighten out some…read moreissues with online access and transferring funds to another bank she uses. Being old, I help her with these things. The lobby person was friendly and made a call to their online department and gave us the rather bizarre explanation that the problem was at another bank we'd done a transaction with. (The transfer went through just fine but it was Bank Financial which was now telling us that their transfer service was suspended without explanation). Subquently, they cancelled online access altogether. Can't even log in. So I got home and called the other bank which checked and found no issues. And they found it very strange that Bank Financial would tell us this. So back to Bank Financial (by phone this time, both Mom and me on the line) which acknowledged the issue was at their end. The bottom line was that it will take another in-person visit by the both of us to get things right. THANK YOU BANK FINANCIAL FOR WASTING OUR TIME. A correct answer while we there would have set things right. as we could have taken care of everything right then. Now we have to go back. Oh, and what was the problem? Bank Financial told me that they will NOT allow me to assist my mom unless I, too, am a signer on the checking account in question. Sheesh. No one told us that when we set up online access, in person, at this same branch some months ago. Let me repeat that. They will NOT allow me to help my own mother navigate their website. Ridiculous. This used to be one of the banks I used myself and I moved my IRA elsewhere just because of the low interest rates. (I still have a little one there.) Now I'm glad I did. Friendly service is nice but not when it doesn't get the job done.

Beware of using BF's online bill pay. We sent a large amount to another bank, and it kept not…read moreshowing up at the destination. We called, and were told that, at their discretion, BF's bill pay contractor may decide to just MAIL a check to the payee. WE could have done that, or even driven it to the receiving bank's drive through. In this day and age, when you hit PAY on the computer, you assume that you're getting an electronic transaction, not snail mail. We canceled these checks in order to expedite payment, and were then charged a $26 fee by the other bank when they finally arrived and had been de-funded.
