And with that being said, the quality is still never compromised for the good price. Overall each time has been a great experience at In the Blood... The most important thing for me was requesting curly hair on this character as a person of color, I just wanted something that I could identify with. When I came in for my appointment, CC presented me with a design that incorporates all of the changes I asked for except for the curly hair. I asked about this and she said she would fix it. When I came back to the room, she had in fact not updated her stencil, but instead tells me that she can just work with the reference and do what I had asked originally. I have never been more upset at trusting a professional with more than 20 years of experience. The end result is a hair design that is not at all what I asked for and I cannot understand how much you would have to dehumanize someone to pretend to do what I consented to but permanently etch squiggles instead. I tried very hard to be open to the change but at the end of the day it's not the composition or design that I requested. They immediately have you fill out paperwork when you come in to waive away any right for legal pursuit, so I know there isn't much I can do, but I want to prevent this from happening to anyone else as I am looking forward to having this design lasered off as soon as it heals. I have had good experience with In The Blood in the past but I do not recommend this artist CC Daniels if you are a person of color requesting anything Afrocentric as she does not have the skill set, but will pretend she does and give you something you didn't ask for.

Mik designed my second tattoo herself, the stencil looked awesome, but it turned out even more beautifully once she added the shading & highlight color in the actual tattoo. I had a hard time picking a specific tattoo shop since I was a little nervous about getting my first more intricate tattoo, but the entire shop was super welcoming. Would highly recommend this shop to anyone considering a tattoo, it's likely that this'll be the only shop I go to moving forward for future tattoos.

We decided on a lilac. I found Kelly on Yelp, and found she specializes in flowers. I contacted Kelly and she was extremely prompt at responding, and professional. Upon entering the shop, Kelly (the owner of Rogue) was kind and professional. She kindly asked for everyone to wear masks, as it's for everyone's safety, which i could not agree more with. Kelly's shop is full of creative art, plants and portraits which clearly show how creative she is. She was incredibly kind, professional, and knew exactly what she was doing. Being this was mom and i's first tattoo, we had a lot of questions. Kelly was never annoyed, or short with any of her answers. She could not have been more open and caring. I would recommend Kelly to everyone. She was always cautious about what we wanted, and keeping us updated throughout the process. She told us multiple times to call her email her with any questions. I had no intention to deliberately come here, but as I was walking down the street I felt this is where I was going to do it. It was a rainy day and I walked up to the place and looked up and thought, yeah, this is the appropriate place to do so. I had no clue if they took walk-ins, or were able at that moment to do my tattoo. I just felt numb at that point and walked in here. I went to the counter and was asked what they could do for me. I showed them what I wanted tattooed on me and where I would like it to be. After making sure what I wanted would be alright when it would be stenciled they made sure the sizing was right for the area. While they were doing all that I filled out the tattoo waiver form to have this done and just waited until it was time. It had been a few years since I last got a tattoo and was a bit anxious with it all, but the artist that did my tattoo, Jeff, put me at ease. Because of me being a walk in and it being a simple tattoo, I think I took up maybe twenty minutes total of their time. The tattooing itself did not bother me one bit. When Jeff was all finished and he cleaned it a bit, he had me look at it to see how it looked. I went to the mirror, looked at it, chocked up a bit and told him it was perfect. He asked if I was alright and I told him yeah, it just means a lot to me that he was able to get the handwriting perfect. See, I had a bit of a breakdown knowing that my Mom was not going to be signing anymore of my birthday cards, so I had her handwriting tattooed on me from a previous birthday card to have forever. Jeff saw the sadness in my eyes and asked if I needed a hug. I told him I was fine, just having a moment. He then asked again if I needed a hug and I told him I appreciate the gesture, but I am fine. After he was done and had me set up to go, he took some of his time to talk to me about how loss is a tough thing to deal with and that he knows what I was going through. Some people just have the right compassion to be doing their line of work. Jeff exemplifies was a good person is and kind and caring being. I totally appreciate what they were able to accomplish for me, anytime I miss Mom I give a rub of that tattoo am reminded that I am loved. Phew, sorry to be a downer there, but it was an emotional day, and I needed to hear some kind words at that particular moment. I believe I was brought here for a reason. I would definitely come back and ask for Jeff to do my next tattoo. Also, not bad for this being my 2,700th review. Glad it could be this place.

I had a very disappointing and costly experience with CAIN at Human Canvas. I came in with a very…read morespecific fine line tattoo request, which Cain claimed to be experienced in. He charges premium hourly fees at $130/hour yet I later learned he's been tattooing for less than two years, something he never disclosed. He promised to send custom artwork before my appointment but never did. On the day of, he said I was actually scheduled for the following week and threw together a last minute design that didn't look like what I requested but I was assured it would be very soft and feminine once shaded. I was charged for 4 hours, including time spent prepping, printing, and adjusting the stencil, not just tattooing as he originally stated. After a second session with little improvement, I canceled my final appointment and asked for a refund of my deposit. Aside from asking me to come in for a healed picture he has not offered any resolution. He has ignored my texts, calls, request for my deposit back since I wasn't going to have the tattoo finished there, and he has never followed up or returned a call. I waste $900 to get a tattoo I didn't want, and now I have to pay to remove what he did so another artist can fix it. I did find a highly skilled ARTIST (Laura Mohn at The Kindred Spirit Tattoo co.) who completed the second half of the tattoo with custom fine line art for less than Cain charged and it's exactly what I asked for and absolutely beautiful! Do your homework. Don't be fooled by confidence that isn't backed by skill or integrity. The pics are my reference photos I showed at the consultation. What he charged me $900 for, and the second half of the tattoo which was completed by Laura Mohn from The Kindred Spirit to show how they look side by side for reference of what I asked for versus what Cain did.
