From the moment we stepped onto the property, our expectations began to drop. The woman at the…read morefront desk greeted us while reeking of cigarette smoke, which immediately set the tone. The hotel advertises that it serves breakfast, but don't be fooled. This is not a continental breakfast by any stretch. For a group of four, we were given a total of six possible items to choose from--including drinks. The "menu" consisted of a croissant, a muffin, a breakfast bar, juice, or water. That's it. One person would have to choose between having a drink or a very lackluster snack--not both. The pool is listed as an amenity, yet it was completely shut down and coated in green algae. When we arrived at our room, we noticed a row of random office-style chairs lined up outside in the main walkway, directly beneath a "No Smoking" sign. Below them sat three ashtray cups. Nearby was a man wearing an oversized black shirt, oversized shorts, sunglasses, and a crossbody fanny pack. He stared at us in a way that felt uncomfortable and unsafe. He wandered around the property, and we eventually realized he worked there. His appearance and suspicious behavior did not resemble hotel staff in any professional sense, and the overall vibe was unsettling. Opening the door to our room was the final straw. The overwhelming smell of mold, mildew, and cigarettes hit us instantly--so strong we could barely breathe. Nothing in the reviews or advertisements prepared us for this. Even the shower was coated in dark grime, clearly not cleaned or disinfected for quite some time. The sheets were dirty, walls were dirty, sink was dirty. Just so unsanitary. It made my skin crawl and you can't even breathe the air in the room. When we stepped back outside, the front desk attendant was right there, chain-smoking one cigarette after another. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. This place is nothing like what it claims to be. I don't understand how this place has such great reviews. This is the biggest catfish I've ever experienced. Someone must be buying people off.

Very clean rooms, with enough hot water for 4 people to take showers back to back. The beds were a little lumpy, but nothing bad...I still slept great. It has a nice little pool area with a high fence around it for privacy from the nearby rooms. We heard that there were going to be complimentary breakfast goodies when we booked the room, but never received it/ were unsure how to make it happen. We checked in late so maybe we missed the opportunity to order it.

This time around my sister and brother in law and thier kids also came along for the first time. Becky the property manager greeted us as we arrived at our 4pm check-in. She explained everything in detail and walked us through the cabin and made us feel very welcomed. The unique one story cabins are arranged in a horseshoe configuration and are named according to their theme, and in the middle a beautiful courtyard is shared with gueats. We actually stayed in their latest newly remodeled two story cabin called The Marlin. It's located right next to the main property. At night it's very safely lit and your vechicals are parked under the structure. It sleeps 10 with two full baths and all the amenities you need to make your stay enjoyable. It has a second story large balcony and a small third story balcony as well. Access to the beach is at walking distance or a short drive. After hurricane Harvey the cabins sustained damage and there was even a waterline marker when the storm surge came in. After alot of hard work and tireless vollenteers the newly remodeled cabins are better than ever. Becky was even kind enough to show us inside The Rock and Roll cabin and the remarkable improvements they made. The Dancing Dunes is highly recommend which ever cabin you stay in. Check out their Facebook page or website to make reservations in advance because they do fill up quickly. We're definitely coming back next year and can't wait to make memories again.

While not in perfect condition, the room was thoughtfully designed with flat surfaces and hooks where needed. It was nice to have a woodgrain floor and no carpet. There was also a futon for extra seating but it was not comfortable. The bed was comfortable, but the sheets had some areas with rough texture. The tub/shower was clean. The tub was slick. There was adequate water pressure and plenty of hot water. Prior to arrival, I was able to do most parts of checking in online. On arrival I only had to show an ID and agree to pay damages if I smoked or made a mess, and to specify whether or not we wanted housekeeping visits and what we wanted them to do. We opted out. Breakfast was surprisingly very good on the first morning, a Tuesday. Weekday hours were limited to 7-9 am, 10 am on weekends. There was lots of variety in hot foods, juices, and yogurt. There was a pancake-wrapped sausage on a stick, 2 varieties of eggs, some very good bacon, tortillas and grated cheese for those wanting breakfast tacos, and other goodies. There were 2 waffle machines and 2 batter flavors. The attendant was very friendly and helpful. I watched her retrieve bottled water for some people and bus others' tables. This was not the usual motel "free breakfast" experience, but something much better. The second morning was not as good. As one example, the pancake-wrapped sausages weren't fully heated, there were no tortillas, and the attendant didn't seem so into her job. The breakfast room is extremely cramped, but there are overflow spaces in the hallway and outdoors. This motel was a good value for us and better than a previous experience at this location. Maybe it's because we became platinum rewards members on this trip, but we can't be sure.

Started looking around more and realized that there were large dead roaches and so many alive little tiny roaches everywhere behind the bed and under the furniture and literally just crawling around everywhere. Asked to be changed to another room. We packed up and walked into the new room directly below the old room, switched on the light and a roach was just crawling across the floor. Shut the door and checked out. Front desk said they hadn't had any complaints about roaches but now reading other reviews I see that this is a problem there. There was no way we could sleep there.

Check-in was simple and easy, and upon entering our first-floor room (1109), the room smelled fresh and clean. During our inspection of the bedding, we noticed a boot print and some yellow stains on the top blanket. There were also a few stains on the towels. Fortunately, this was not a major issue for us since we brought our own sheets and towels. The fitted sheets on both beds appeared new and clean. The bathroom itself was clean, and the barn-style door added a cute aesthetic touch, although it seemed more decorative than functional and did not provide much privacy. The room lighting was excellent, with recessed can lights throughout the space that gave it a bright and modern feel. One inconvenience was that the room did not initially include the microwave listed in the room description. However, after contacting the front office, the staff was very friendly and accommodating and delivered one the following day. At night, the exterior lighting around the property was extremely bright and shined through the edges of the curtains, making it difficult to sleep. We ended up placing towels around the curtain edges to block out the light. The pool area was clean and well maintained, with a depth reaching 6 feet. The location directly on the beach was definitely one of the highlights of the stay.

Tremendous customer service, beautiful views! Staff is super friendly and it's budget friendly.read more
