We chose Port A Beach Lodge mainly because of the location right on the beach and because it's pet friendly, which was a huge plus since we had our two dogs with us. The food was a bit mixed. I had the breakfast sandwich and really liked it, and the Bloody Marys were very good. The rest of our group felt their meals were just okay, and several people thought the pancakes had an odd taste. Unfortunately, the service was the biggest disappointment. I ordered coffee at the beginning of the meal and asked for sugar and creamer, but they never came. By the time we realized we weren't going to get them, the coffee was cold, so we asked to have it removed from the bill. Our server was not very attentive overall, and we only saw her a couple of other times during the meal. Several small requests were also forgotten, including mayonnaise and syrup for the pancakes. The beachfront setting and pet-friendly atmosphere are definitely the best parts of this place, and I did enjoy my breakfast sandwich and drinks. Under new ownership so this place is making a ton of improvements. This is the only place I could find that has a view of the ocean from the seating area. Breakfast and coffee was great, I had a loaded omelet, home fries, biscuits, and coffee for $15. Good value for a place right on the beach. The servers were attentive and friendly. The hours say they open at 8am but I was there at 7:15 am and they welcomed me right in. The bar and restaraunt were packed by the time I left at 8am. This place is dog friendly and worth the visit while visiting Port Aransas, Texas. I gave it 5 stars because of the service and breakfast quality for the price. read more

Port A Beachlodge is the only place I know of where you can sit right on the beach and actually see the ocean while you eat, and that alone makes it pretty special. The vibe is laid-back and very beachy, which I enjoyed. I ordered the cheeseburger and it hit the spot, and the waitstaff was friendly and welcoming. That said, parking is limited, and if you're in a wheelchair, you'll likely need assistance getting into the restaurant. While there is a ramp, the door itself isn't accessible. It was our first time coming here to order a frozen drink from the bar. The vibes are great here. I love the interior and ambiance of it being a hotel as well. We are definitely looking in to staying here one day! I got the watermelon thc infused drink and it was pretty melted unfortunately and super sweet. We were so glad to see the Beachlodge right next to our hotel (Beachgate). The food was great. Had dinner (pizza) and breakfast the next day. No bells and whistles - just basic food. Seafood boil was missing the crab and crab cakes, shrimp was cold, hush puppies non existent but eventually the three missing parts of the boil came out in three different trips. Only a half of piece of corn on the cob in the boil. Should have charged $10 instead of $37. Burgers were good, nine inch pizza was supposedly "freshly" made and not frozen. Came out luke warm at best. Asked for red pepper and Parmesan , never came out. The shrimp basket was okay, but there is no way to really mess up frozen shrimp and fries. Fish po boy and fried seafood platter were served with fried fish. After asking what kind of fish, waiter said it was flounder. After the meal he came back and said he was mistaken. He said it was Swai fish. Never heard of it so I looked it up and it was a farmed raised unclean industrial fish from the sewers of the Mekong Delta of Vietnam. Went to put salt on the boil and water out with a little bit of salt. On a positive note to close, the Miller Lite was pretty cold. $200 that I'll never get back. Came here for a bite with a beach view and so glad we did! I really wanted a place to go by the water and it most other restaurants by the water in Port A are by marinas and not the actual beach. It's not fancy, the building rather old (since 1969!) and some "Karens" out there might even turn and leave running and screaming esp they saw the restroom, but it was exactly what I was hoping and looking for regarding a relaxing outdoor lunch where I could watch the waves while we catch a break from the sun and grab a quick bite. Yes, it's attached to a small beach lodge/motel you can only book by phone or by showing up in person (feels like stepping by back in time being here/there). But you don't need an active lodge reservation and the restaurant and bar is open to all. Menu/options at first seemed a little limited/questionable in regard to vegetarian-friendly options (saw the old yellow menus online) so I was a little nervous about finding something to eat so we chose to come for a light lunch instead of dinner since we weren't sure what to expect. However we arrived and found the menus had been updated from the ones I'd seen online and had way more options added which was a delight, who doesn't like options? They have scrumptious-looking breakfast options (we'll have to come back for breakfast, my fave), everything seemed reasonably priced. We each ordered a mimosa and thought they were strong (but not too strong they weren't tasty). Would definitely come back just for drinks (but I'm positive we would order food too haha). I've been to many of the establishments in Port Aransas and I think this might be my favorite spot due to the wonderful view, super laid-back vibe and charm/history of the establishment. We arrived and it was unclear if we waited on a server or ordering at the bar. It wasn't terribly busy. At the bar, it took too long to even get acknowledged. Two (2) people were running the operations and were NOT in sync at all. One server did two (2) laps around the restaurant asking whose food this was. At the bar, it was no better. Also. No liquor for sale. Drinks were limited to pre-mix or beers. No option to order simple cocktails. After 15-20min. This place has so much potential because of its location but there is no effort. It took forever to place our order and to receive it. The ketchup bottles looked like they had not been replaced, cleaned or refrigerated in a very long time. I asked for salt and the waiter pointed to a plastic cup on the chair with 3 gas station salt packets, which by the way was clumped. The fries were soggy and unseasoned. The bathrooms were filthy! There were 4 locks on the door and only one worked. I was looking forward to eating there because it was beach side and close to our hotel but I deeply regretted it. Right off the Beach, The Beach Lodge has a little bit of all the simple everything's you may want for the Tiki Beach Stay. From a fabulous view, to customer service from Kimberly, to cold beer and the ability to stay and eat. We Enjoyed Kimberlys sweet customer service and hanging out with others who stopped in to grab a bite. Cold Coronas are a must, Best koozies on the Island, and then great snack foods. We had the Loaded fries that were alright, as well as burgers, blt, mashed potatoes, potato salad. The food is nothing more than bar food, and no one could handle the Potato Salad. But the fact that the location and customer service was so great, we probably would come back to at least enjoy some ice cold beers. read more

If you're wearing anything other than a t-shirt and flip flops you're overdressed. This is a very casual, laid back place. If you're looking for fine dining you will be disappointed. All the food here you eat with your hands. They don't have regular silverware. If you want a fork I think they have plastic ones. Service was very friendly. Don't eat here if you're in a hurry. They are on island time. But if you're looking for a very good shrimp boil, a good burger, cold beer, good music and you have some time this is the place for you. read more

Waitresses seemed out of it... not sure if we came at a bad time but wouldn't waste the time or money! The only redeeming quality of this place is that it is on the beach. If you want to have a beer overlooking the water, this will do. No table service, you walk up to the bar to order. The food was super disappointing. Had a fried fish po'boy and the fish was greasy and tasteless and it was literally just a piece of fish on bread with a side of cocktail sauce and a little wilted lettuce and tomato on the side. The fries had no salt on them and I couldn't get a bartenders attention to bring me a salt shaker even though I was sitting at the bar and it wasn't busy. Will definitely not eat here again. Beach Lodge used to be a hidden treasure on the island. It now is a rotting mess with bad food, bad service and total disregard for customers. Went yesterday and did not get waited on. Finally ordered food at the bar. Waited almost an hour for burgers. They were dry on hard buns with no flavor. We used to sit and enjoy the view and get a pretty good burger. We stayed at the Beach Lodge for the weekend and ate here several times during our stay. Great beach food with an amazing view! There is indoor and outdoor seating, wine and ice cold beer to be enjoyed, and fun place for adults and kids alike, literally right on the beach. Lots of burgers and sandwiches to choose from - my favorite was the grilled chicken sandwich. They use a large boneless skinless chicken breast and put it on an amazingly soft, fluffy bun. The French fries were ok - needed to be cooked more, but still tasty. The chicken wings were also very good. The star of the show is their shrimp and crab boil. Huge portion (enough for 2 people), seasoned to perfection, and as good as any 5 star restaurant would serve. Maybe better! Breakfast is also really good here, so don't worry about having to find somewhere to go for breakfast. They have it all! The service is friendly and personalized, making us feel like we were 'at home'. My husband and I have been coming here since high school (over 30 years), and will probably spend the next 30 years returning to our favorite place. When we walked in, it was unpleasant to hear from the waitress right from the start say, "This is our foreign exchange student from Columbia. He will be your waiter taking your drinks. He doesn't know much English. You'll need to speak reallllllyyyyy sloooooowwww." The emphasis on 'slow', and the fact the student was speaking full on English for us and his other tables gave us a racist vibe. It's rare I leave a bad review, but this was necessary. We then ordered food through the lady who approached us about the foreign exchange student. After 30 mins, we noticed 2 other tables got their food before us. Again, giving us a racist vibe since myself and our guests are Hispanic. I've never felt that before until coming here. I went to ask the waitress where our order was because other tables got their food, and she came back 10 mins later stating "it's being worked on. It's a little backed up". Waited another 20 mins and asked again where our food was and was told, "your order was put last. If you wanna come back and cook your burger, please do because we need cooks". While that was a cheeky comment, it was not the right time. We were there over an hour and had order our food as soon as we got there. Will never be back and I do not recommend this place for anyone who appreciates good quality customer service. Granted, they gave us our drinks for free and asked "do you still want your food"?
