Planting in the fall is the right time, so you want to shop now - they are open through the end of October. The staff is incredibly helpful as well - they will help you pick plants that will thrive based on your soil and sun/shade conditions. Need a workhorse for your flower bed? Get the goldenrod or sneezeweed - trust me! Love this nursery

We attempted to remove some ourselves but were quickly overwhelmed by the task. I researched native plant landscapers and came across Swamp Rose Co-op. After reaching out, Jeff, one of the owners, came to do a site visit. He was thorough in his presentation of plans and this February we had them come and do bamboo removal and plant some native trees and shrubs to act as a privacy screen. The Swamp Rose team was amazing! They pulled out over 2 tons of bamboo and roots! They planted native trees and shrubs which are thriving. Our backyard woodland meadow dreams are coming true. We have the team coming back in a few weeks to rip out the standard plants seen in the Silver Spring area (liriope, lilies, weeds) to replace with a native garden and we can't wait. One of my favorite aspects of this company is it is a co-op. The employees can be owners, and those who aren't are still paid a living wage as calculated by the MIT living wage calculator. They do excellent work! It is hard to find a native landscaper but this team is fantastic.

We were able to work with students in 5 Baltimore City Public School classrooms this year as part of our environmental education outreach. We truly appreciate your support for the students we serve. They also supply us with feed for our chickens, rabbits and goats at BGiftE Urban Farms. Thank you again for all you do. Should you have need of farm supplies, they offer friendly prompt service and a wide variety of animal feed, wood chips, mulch, hay, straw, lawn care and garden supplies just to name a few. If you are in the neighborhood, give them a try.

It's a large warehouse style store with bulk bags of almost everything for almost every animal. They have birdseed, horse feed, wood chips, hay, and other supplies of every sort. They have an old country store feel, complete with a shelf of assorted jams and sauces for sale. I love their convenience, right up from Ellicott City's Main Street (the same road technically) and close to the Route 40/29 interchange. You can browse around the place, but I've never done anything more than walk up to the counter, describe what I need, pay for it and momentarily someone wheels it out and loads it into my car. I do have to deduct a star for their banker's hours. They close at five on weekdays and are not open on Sundays, so you have to plan your trips accordingly.
