The entire process felt rushed, and rote. The assistant seemed bored and only half present, which makes me wonder how thorough and accurate she was. I also felt a bit rushed when I asked about a laser procedure that would help improve my vision after having had cataract surgery on my right eye last year. I left not really understanding much of anything, and questioning what I need or don't need. I should've asked more questions, but, again, I felt rushed. I do give 5 stars to whoever took the photos of my eyes prior to the exam. She was bright, kind, and more than happy to explain things. When there are such large numbers of patients being seen on a daily basis, maybe it's inevitable that we begin to feel like moving parts on a conveyor belt of an assembly line. It might be time to look for a smaller practice.

He's condescending and practices the type of medicine where you keep coming back because he doesn't actually treat you. And then he runs extra testing that he has his staff do that you say that you don't want and he assures you that he won't charge you for it and then he does. There are lots of great eye doctors in Traverse City, I did not find one here.

I did have to wait 20 minutes but it was the same day I asked for the referral and they were working me in because of the issue I had. He has continued to treat me with kindness and expertise. The staff are professional and helpful. A smile and a kind word goes a long way. Many patients are scared, anxious and therefore short tempered so consider the mood you were in and the attitude you presented. I give high ratings to this clinic and the staff. They cancelled the appt via letter that we got two days before the appt and rescheduled to a day my wife had informed them was a day she worked. They said they called but could not leave a message on our phone ("the phone just rang and rang"). They did not attempt to call again. When my wife was reasonably upset about this and their inability to accomodate her schedule until July (we had hoped to have her surgery done before a long-awaited trip with our grandaughter who we haven't seen in over a year due to COVID) the woman became haughty, officious, passive aggressively rude. We then got a message that they would not see my wife at all because my wife "would not like us". This made us reasonably angry and when I called there was no resolution and the woman was completely unable to deal effectively with people who are reasonably upset about such things. There was a snarky quality about her refusal to reschedule at all, and a refusal to let me talk to whoever supervises her, knowing that they are only one of less than a handful of offices that do this procedure in a huge region. I also don't understand how a very highly paid professional can take a Friday off at the last minute when he or she has a day fully scheduled unless it was a personal emergency. This is no longer a "family" practice, rather than another business hungry provider. After 5 days…read moreof asking a question about a medication refill and being completely ignored, I finally received a "no" with an extremely passive aggressive and degrading phone conversation with a medical assistant. I have had multiple occasions of passive aggressive communication or no communication at all with this provider. After struggling with light-headedness and migraines for a week, I went in for a 5 minute conversation with no tests or solutions. The doctor insisted it was a "hangover" when I've never really drank alcohol in my life. I wasn't informed on my insurance coverage change, and this 5 minute conversation was $60. I had an odd physical injury being hit with a golfball, and I could hear nurses speaking about my situation and laughing outside the room. Made me feel bad and uncomfortable for asking for a female doctor for my first Pap smear. I schedule visits only to be seen weeks later, and never with my primary doctor. My entire family, friends, and co workers have all switched from this provider as these experiences are widespread. This practice has turned into a money-focused business. There is no family-feel when receiving care.
