Jim from Philly was our fantastic tour guide Exactly why we took the tour We stayed on for all the stops to hear his narration FANTASTIC Unfortunately after he ended the tour and we rode the second time we had Rachel from Raleigh Hard to understand ... very sing songs voice. But she wanted to give tons of battle history and got much of the history of the town incorrect (ie house built from sears kit, and who built it and when ... she didn't know) left out all the local color. This is such an informative attraction for all ages. Our Trolley driver was Pepper and she is so much fun! I wanted to stay in the trolley because she made the tour so much fun!! We rode these trolleys for three days around St Augustine. It was perfect as we could jump off and on at any of their stops. There were two exceptional drivers, Davey Jones and a new driver, Melissa. I would recommend riding with them if possible. However, you do learn different information from each driver assuming that what we're being told is accurate. Nonetheless they all are entertaining. Why I liked the two I mentioned? They spoke clearly and slowly. Therefore they were easy to understand. read more

I thought the price was steep for the experience although we did learn that you park free at stop 1 which would be a benefit if you drove in for a day. Also learned about bus to the lighthouse and alligator farm. We learned a broad overview about the city and which places we would have further interest. This was our goal. We were the only ones on the trolley for 6 to 7 stops and the driver kept going through the same speel as if new people got on which was Very annoying. read more

My boyfriend and I bought the 2-day tickets for the Hop On Hop Off trolley and it was definitely worth it! Every one of the drivers/tour guides were amazing but we especially appreciated the high energy and hysterical story telling from Kendall, Tracy, and Danté. The Trolley ran right on schedule, and it stopped in the most convenient locations around downtown St. Augustine. We also took advantage of the free parking at stop 1 (the Old Jail) each day, which saved us a ton of $$. I would highly recommend purchasing trolley tickets whenever you're in town! read more

I've done trolly tours in other cities and enjoyed them very much so i was looking forward to this one. I was highly disappointed. The speakers weren't loud enough so most of the time we couldn't hear the historic tidbits the conductor was saying. If everyone happened to be quiet with no traffic noise then you could hear. But people talk and traffic is around you everywhere. The tour was also 4 times longer than it needs to be. The route criss crosses and loops around the same blocks so many times! It lasted 2 hours and it could easily be 30 minutes. I did enjoy the jail tour which is why i didn't give it 1 star but was disappointed with the rest of it. My recommendation to the business would be to make the speakers louder or install new ones that are louder and cut out all the criss crossing from the tour. A lot of people were also using the trolly to get from one place to the other. Shorter routes would let the trolleys come by each stop more frequently and be less crowded. They do have a refund policy which i requested and was refunded. read more

This is my favorite trolley tour in St Augustine. The tour guides can be a hit or miss though. I avoided annoying tour guides by getting off at a stop and hopping on another trolley tour passing by with another tour guide. I had the good fortune of having one exceptional tour guide. He was so good that I didn't get off at any stops and rode the whole way listening to him and seeing all the historical buildings in St Augustine. His name was Kevin Rose, and he does not work there anymore. :( This is ranked as my number 4 tour to go on in St Augustine. If you have family and friends who want to see all the sights in historical St Augustine, go on this one. The van that brings you to the beach and lighthouse may not be worth it. The driver went on how much he went out of his way to drive people to the lighthouse and how long the wait would be for pick up. I was irritated at him and wondered if he was doing this to get a fat tip from me. I decided to pass and just use my own car to see the lighthouse or beach. The Nights of Lights tour is a long hellish wait. I enjoyed seeing the lights but I hated the really LONG LINES...not worth it on crowded days. If you go on an OFF day when there are no tourists or long lines, it isn't that bad. I only got to experience this once and it was probably after Christmas. I heard that they were still giving Nights of Lights tours in January and February, so that time is your best bet. It is worth going on for friends and family who have never seen St Augustine lit up at night with Christmas lights. My advice: Get a really good tour guide or just hop off at a stop and take a chance on another. A ticket is usually good for three days. Sometimes it is good to read about the places on St Augustine before you take the trolley tour. It makes you appreciate the history and the sights more. I definitely saw the former Potter's Wax Museum building in another light after seeing old pictures of it in the early 1900s and reading about it. It is now A1A Aleworks and has other businesses in it now. On the trolley tour, it seems like a big yellow building but it has a fascinating history after reading about it as the former wax museum, a hotel, and market place. Before that I think it had private residential homes built on the land. read more

Highly recommend for ANYONE on a first time or even second time visit. We had 2 separate tour guides during our ride. I can not say how much we enjoyed SUMMER. She was awesome! Days later and still talking about her tales of the tour. It obviously to us, that she was someone who just didn't work there, but loved working there. We only had one full day in St Augustine so we decided to take the trolley tour with additional attraction tickets to make the most of our time. We purchased the package that included The ghost and gravestones, Potter's wax museum, the old jail, the oldest store Museum, and the saint Augustine history Museum. There was free parking stop #2) where we purchased the tickets and boarded. This allowed us to visit all those places without having to worry about parking at each one. The lady that helped us purchase our tickets was very helpful and friendly. They have a lot of packages available so it was nice to have someone knowledgeable to give advice. The best tour trolley driver that we had during our day was Troy. He was very knowledgeable and made the tour interesting as we passed all the sites. I think this was a great way for us to get around St Augustine and see the sights. There is a lot of traffic and trying to drive to all of the sites and find parking would have been a waste of some of the little time that we had. We had a half day in St Augustine the next day and the tour allowed us to know where to go back and spend the last few hours. read more

Over priced and the trolleys are fairly difficult for some senior citizens to get in and out of. My grandmother struggled with the large step up in Sound is also pretty poor quality, but in Florida's heat it does seem better than waking all of St. Augustine read more

My wife and I took this tour 4 days into our vacation. I wish we'd have taken it the first day. It's like an interesting and entertaining history lesson. Titus was our guide and was terrific. He has an obvious love of history and was very engaging. One benefit of the tour is the fact that they will pick you up from your hotel, even on the island. You can get off and on the trolley at multiple downtown stops allowing you to eat, shop, sight see or whatever you want without worrying about parking. A+++ tour with first rate guides. My sister rented these trolleys for her daughter's wedding. They were to come by the bed and breakfasts the guests were staying in and ferry the guests to the reception venue and then come back at the end and take us back. They did an adequate job of the actual transportation,but the driver was really unpleasant,borderline rude. There was really no need for the attitude either. I'm wondering if the driver was the same one that made rude comments over his PA toward an elderly woman struggling to get into the passenger side of a sedan earlier in the day. The car she was in was holding up traffic,but show some grace. She had a cane and was handicapped. He said," we're waiting. We're all waiting" over his loudspeaker so we could hear him on the street. Rude. He wore a white feather in his hat. read more

Was in town for the day and decided to take this tour in order to see the most in a short period of time. The concept was good but overall experience was fair. Everything was pretty much in walking distance so it really wasn't needed. The historical information provided was interesting when we were able to actually hear the tour guide. Since this is an open air trolley, things like normal traffic and construction often made it difficult. In addition, our overhead speaker was static at times. The biggest problem we had with this tour was pick up from the fountain of youth stop. We waited 40 mins for a trolly to come through that had enough room for our family of 4 and that was after 3 previous trolleys came but were at capacity. We missed a good portion of day just waiting. All and all...this missed the mark and would not do it again. With a sticker price starting at $30 per person, we definitely had higher expectations. read more

After taking the Trolley Tour in Savannah, I was so impressed that I decided to dish out the money to tour St Augustine, even though I've been many times (my guest had never been). One big perk - you can park for free at their stops near the Old Jail. It was really crowded in town that day so there was a lot of traffic and the tour took longer than usual. We ended up short on time towards the end. Not their fault, obviously, just something to keep in mind if you want to do this tour on a busy day. Because these "trolleys" are so large and open, you really can't hear anything. That is why I have to give them 3 stars. Between street noise and a poor audio system, I could hardly make out what our driver was saying and I felt like I wasted $30 simply to be driven around. And because you can't really hear, passengers start carrying on their own conversations which makes it worse. There are so many stops, it seemed kind of silly because some of them were very close together. But I definitely saw some things I hadn't seen before so I appreciated that. I just think a few stops could be eliminated in order to make the tour more efficient. And please improve the audio! read more

Almost 5 start but I did have to take an Uber after waiting 1 hr to be picked up. The concept and execution by the drivers is great! I like the on/off style of seeing the down town area but they definitely sold way too many tickets causing long wait times and full pick up stations. It was a busy weekend and I get that but wow. They could have used 5 more trolleys or 100 less people expecting an easy ride. During the week it was much better. The old jail was great though...Patrick was our guide and he was wonderful! read more

Use the Red Trolley, not Old Town Trolley! I live close to St. Augustine so when visitors come we always do the trolley ride. Oh boy! How they have changed! Old Town Trolley use to be our favorite, but I will never use them again. Monday, August 2, 2021 we took the trolley ride and the first guide that we had sounded like he was speaking GIBBERISH. I am sorry I did not get his name. So, we got off at the first stop and waited for the next trolley to arrive. Bruce was the guide and he did somewhat better so we stayed with him. When we pulled back into the trolley station there was SCOOTER dressed as a 'conductor' who was yelling at 2 people that were smoking in the designated smoking area. He was not just yelling, he was screaming at them, for no reason. SCOOTER knew he made an ass of himself, but did not bother to apologize to them. Then, there was a handicapped man in a wheelchair boarding the tram. He was doing just fine by himself, but no, SCOOTER had to get involved and embarrassed that poor man so badly. Old Town Trolley and the Red Trolley use to offer a tour around St Augustine with a guide telling you the history of the city in story form. This time, on Old Town Trolley Bruce sounded like he was reading from a script. I was embarrassed in front of my relatives because I had spoken so highly of the tour. ( Not to mention the $150 we threw away.) It used to be delightful, but not anymore. read more

The tour was fun, but even having 2 customers with pre paid tickets it took almost an hour to get 2 stickers. The front desk worker took a personal call over helping a line of customers. My advice, get here hours before you want the tour to start. read more

I had a great time in St. Augustine, and Old Town Trolley made it possible. On the first pass, we just rode the entire circuit and made notes about what all we wanted to go back to. Then, we got on and off the trolley all day seeing the sights. The part of the day that earned the five star rating came when we took the beach bus to go see the lighthouse. The driver warned us that the lighthouse would most likely be closed because of lightning in the area. He didn't want us to waste our time, so he broke his normal route and dropped us at the lighthouse to check it out. He finished his route and came back 20 minutes later, the original drop off time, to pick us up. He didn't want us to get stuck there for an hour with nothing to do. It was very kind of him. They also sent a shuttle to pick us up from our hotel in the morning and take us to the first trolley stop, then drop us off back at our hotel at the end of the day. read more
