My family and I were finally able to take our twice-pandemic-postponed "Big 3 Smithsonian" tour with DC Insider Tours and it was definitely worth the wait! We were fortunate to have company co-owner Bo as our guide, He took us on an enthusiastic, informative, efficient four-hour tour of the highlights of the American History, Natural History, and Air & Space museum along with a stop at the Smithsonian Sculpture Garden. Bo's personable nature, passionate knowledge of all things Smithsonian plus Washington DC overall made the experience truly exceptional. The customer service provided by DC Insider Tours during my rescheduling throughout the pandemic was also incredible . My family hired DC Insiders for a private walking tour of DC yesterday. Bo, the owner took us around starting in Foggy Bottom at GW University. We explored the history and meaning of Foggy Bottom. Bo provided visual references and history of each spot we stopped at. We toured the Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, World War 2 Memorial and Washington Monument. We learned information we never would have by walking around on our own. All in all Bo was full of energy and great for kids and we learned so much. I'm envious of you. If you are reading this you are very close to experiencing a glorious day with DC insiders. My rating of 5 stars is not accurate, I'm bucking this system. SIX STARS, that is my experience . Becca toured my daughter and I around yesterday for 6 hours. We did the DC in a day on wheels. It felt extravagant ( in a good way) , thorough and delightful. Time was of the essence for us so that is why we chose to have the wheels. We covered so much, I found myself thinking that Becca could have given us half the information and we would have been more than satisfied. Becca has sparkle, huge amounts of energy and intelligence. We would be at a memorial learning and inevitably ending up in a part of the memorial where no other tourists know to roam. There was always information other tours aren't aware of. I will not reveal here what they are, you need to find out for yourself! I resisted the urge to ask if I could friend her on FB or for Becca to please look us up when she makes it out to SF! I contained myself ,but barely. This tour is the whole enchilada. Thanks for making this day the highlight of our Mother&Daughter DC trip. Ps. In love with this city!!! Shoutout to tour guide Devon that dude had me laughing the whole time. All the staff are very infomative, each of them have their own style of delivering information while sightseeing. It's worth to get the 2 day pass and you get some free goodies and coupons with it. The night tour was my favorite and most memorable. They have so many stops around the city that you can hop and off the bus to check out museums. Prices are reasonable i think the two pass was 65 each person so its not that bad. My bf and I had a blast and there was no need to really use any other transportation. Took the Washington in a day tour with group of 9. Becca from DC insider tours was our guide and she won all of us over quickly! She is truly awesome, both personality and knowledge. The tour starts in Wilbur circle, works through Georgetown, to the Potomac, up through Foggy Bottom and them to the mall for the monuments, and closes at the White House. We left thinking that not only did we see more than we would've seen otherwise, the quality of our appreciation is a lot more than a self guided tour would've been. Not a wasted step all day. We took the Glitz, Glam, & Gossip tour of DuPont Circle, Georgetown, and Foggy Bottom. The tour group was a perfect size so that everyone was able to ask questions and have an overall great experience. Our guide, Becca, walked us through D.C.'s history, from its founding and smelly beginnings through modern day, and showed us some fascinating sites along the way (including some side tales that helped humanize the history for us). She even gave us some great restaurant and nightlife tips (Founding Fathers was absolutely delicious) and invited us to call the tour company if we needed any more recommendations during our stay. We took the electric bike tour. Apparently this is the only one in the city. It started in Blagden Alley, a totally cool area with hip coffee shops and restaurants. We picked up our bikes and the guides got us familiar with them. The are super easy and fun once you get the hang of it. The guides took us down to a bunch of the memorials. We would park at each location and one of the guides waited with the bikes while we toured the sites. Bo, our main tour guide, was super knowledgable and dropped details and secrets about the locations that felt like they were right out of the movie National Treasure. Then we went to Hanes point where we really got to lay on the throttle - SO FUN. read more

We were visiting DC for an extremely short weekend trip with some Boy Scouts, on our way to a camp at the Naval Academy. Knowing that many of our small group had never seen DC, I called DC Insider on the highest recommendation of a friend. We had exactly a half of a day to show these boys some sights in the metro DC area. Not only were they very friendly and accommodating to work with (I was worried about missing our start time if weather was bad on our journey from CA to Washington, DC), but Matt, our guide, was GREAT with the young teens and kept them engaged and interested even directly after a red eye flight AND a large breakfast. He changed the tour on the fly to get the boys out of the van at critical times (I.e. All getting sleepy) and never batted an eye at their inquiring minds and queries. He had a wealth of information and interesting factoids at every stop. Becca tailored the tour times to our arrival and Matt was ready for us well before the agreed upon time and willing to take us early. I can't even describe how invaluable this whole experience was for these boys, many of whom may never get to return! This is for the ELECTRIC BIKE TOUR. Three of us thoroughly enjoyed our 3.5 hour electric bike tour today. Our guide, Bo, was not only enthusiastic, but extremely knowledgeable about the multitude of sites we experienced throughout Washington. The bikes were fun and easy to ride/maneuver. We felt safe and completely at home on the road with our second guide who road at the back to ensure everyone was taken care of. For anyone who's experienced any of DC's traffic, the bikes were a welcome change as we were able to zip around and right up to all of the sites. Some might be hesitant about the price of the tour, but it was so well thought out, organized and professional that it is beyond worth it. Bo's information and experience was so in depth that we felt it warranted a tip on top of the cost. Each of us have seen the monuments before but Bo had new and interesting facts to share so we left having learned so much as well as had a wonderful time! read more

I did 2 tours with DC Insider Tours. I enjoyed both, but for different reasons. I did the walking tour with Matt as my guide. It was very fascinating to learn details I didn't know about a city I live in (Yes, I live in DC and I took a tour of it). I didn't realize how many buildings that look run of the mill have historical significance. The other tour was an electric bike tour. I loved this because it was so fun to go around DC on an electric bike. You can go on any road because you basically go the speed limit. First time I traveled DC without sweating. Plus, you get to see sooo much of DC in such a quick time. I would say I was more focused on the bike than the tour but that's because the bike was a lot of fun. Electric bike is definitely the way to see DC. read more

Short version of the review: Do it! You won't regret it! Longer version, if you want details: My wife and I booked a private electric bike tour with Bo and we can't stop talking about it. It has been the highlight of our trip and far-surpassed our expectations. We met in the evening so traffic was nearly non-existent and the temp was a bit cooler and more tolerable. First, the e-bikes were super-easy to get the hang of. It's the same as a regular bike but you have the option of not pedaling. Most importantly, however, the tour itself was incredible. Bo gave us little snippets of history at every stop, including red-lights. He brought photos of what DC used to look like for comparison, to go along with the stories and help bring them to life. As we toured the actual monuments, the additional details he provided really enhanced the experience. These are things you'd never know of or hear about if you just stopped by the monuments on your own, so the tour really is worth it to find all of the "easter eggs", hear the urban legends, and the actual history of things like the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, Korean War Memorial, and the Vietnam Memorial, among others. I won't give any away here because I want you to take the tour! Bo's enthusiasm is contagious. It is clear that he does this simply because he loves his city and wants to share that with others. Had an electric bike tour for several hours. Wasn't looking forward to it but my mind changed afterwards. I've lived in the DC metro my whole life and it was well worth it. Rode all around the capital, memorials, monument and the guide was extremely knowledgeable, laid back and kept it interesting with the deep historical facts. My husband and I and a couple of other couples all decided to try out DC Insider Tours for their electric bike tour of DC. We live in DC, but are always looking for new ways to explore the city to help us with visitors. We ended up trying DC Insider Tours electric bike tour at night. At first I was a little nervous, but the bikes ended up being SO much fun - I didn't want the tour to end! My husband was like a big kid on the bike as he learned to navigate DC in a whole new way. Bo and Becca took us to places in DC we'd never been to and places we'd seen before, but where we were able to gain a new found appreciation of given the knowledge and passion that they have for this wonderful city! They truly love what they do and enjoy sharing their love for DC with others. I highly recommend taking a tour with Becca and Bo and if you want to try something new/different while not exerting a whole lot of energy - try the electric bikes! These would be great for couples, families with older kids, and anyone who wants to zip around the city to see a lot and not spend the time of walking the whole city or just wants to try something new. It was my first time to D.C. and I had a limited amount of time and wanted to see as much as possible. Booking the D.C. Insider Tour for my first day was the best thing I could have done. You get to see more monuments in the 3 1/2 hours than you could have almost any other way but the best part is you are biking thru the city itself . . . absolutely amazing! Also, doing this on the first day gives you a good overview so if there is anyplace you want to go back and visit longer you will know. I honestly felt the time at each monument was perfect. The best part of it all was the guides . . .Bo and Matt were passionate, fun and knowledgeable! They made you feel like you were getting a tour from your friends that live in the city. I had an amazing time and it was the best part of my trip. I would highly recommend taking this tour . . .it is well worth the money. You will not regret it. read more
