My friend lived in this house for…read morethe better part of a lease period having already told them about a laundry list of things that needed to be fixed. After months of not taking care of these issues, right before it was time to sign a new lease all of a sudden they wanted to come and fix everything. The carbon monoxide detector in the rental unit was three years past its expiration I set it out with a note so that they would fix it. I was told by my roommate that they would not replace it, even though it's illegal for us to not have a working one, and they would only come back if we submitted a separate work order for them to come back and fix it even though it was clear clearly not working clearly massively out of date. And they essentially never came back and fixed it and I had to buy my own. When they did come to fix stuff they expected us to leave our house unlocked for the day so that they could come in and out as they pleased. They repaired several things, they painted and didn't ventilate, I came home not knowing what it was I was smelling. And all of this was done in an effort just so that they could raise the rent. They had not done any of the things that they were obligated to do not only by the law but by whatever contract they had with the owner of that property and only so that they could charge us more money. they did appear to care, they did not respond to any requests to fix anything in any sort of a timely manner. To me it was pretty obvious that they only fixed everything because they wanted to charge us more money. Right before the holidays in 2023 they attempted to fix all of these things inside of a week and this was just a week or two before the lease was due to be re-signed. Of course it's way easier to ignore your tenants try to shove everything in at the last minute then to go back to the homeowner and say I'm sorry but I cannot charge these tenants more money because the property is not up to snuff. It's very clear from the way that they behaved during my entire experience that they are more interested in collecting money and being slumlords than to actually take care of problems. The carbon monoxide detector alone is massively illegal. You can clearly see from the first photo that the carbon monoxide detector was made in 2013 they're supposed to be replaced every 5 to 7 years and it was 10 years old, and faulty. And they were made fully aware but said that they would not do anything until we made a work order for it. The law is the law of work order or not.

I only intended to leave an honest review of our experience with IBA. I stand by my one-star review. As our broker, their job was to represent us and get us the best deal possible--not just push a deal through. The buyers already had their own agent. It became clear that closing the transaction quickly was the priority--not our best interests. That's not just poor service--it's unethical. Mortgage lenders need to know whether they're financing a home or a business. Blurring those lines to push a deal through isn't just questionable--it's potentially harmful. We were not properly represented, and we paid the price for it. I recently posted an honest review about my experience with IBA and noticed they still have a 5-star rating. I probably wouldn't have checked back--except I received a letter from an attorney representing IBA. Here's what it said: "They are chagrined that you posted an online review of IBA suggesting otherwise, and we demand that you remove the review you recently made of IBA NW Business Brokers on Google." To be clear, I shared a truthful account of my own personal experience. I did not name the broker involved, nor did I exaggerate any details. It was a simple, honest, one-star review summarizing what was, for me, a very disappointing experience. I don't appreciate being pressured to remove it. A company that can't accept fair criticism without resorting to legal threats raises serious concerns. There are many business brokers in the Northwest--I'd encourage others to do their research and choose one who values transparency and accountability. Original review: I recently worked with a broker from IBA to sell our business and home together, as the business operated on our property. My daughter and I had one chance to sell the small business we built and dedicated ourselves to for ten years, and unfortunately, we were met with disregard and a lack of respect throughout the entire process. The very first interested buyers ended up purchasing it. While it turned out to be a great deal for them, it was not in our best interest. We felt misled and unsupported from start to finish. I interviewed 3 different surveyor companies and chose CSI to complete this work. The scope and time frame was reviewed with each organization mostly all had very full work commitments which is expected during all the current building activity within the local area. I was given expected time frame from CSI that would support my legal activity as it progressed. They also were very helpful in the "education" of "exact" needs for legal actions of various types along with the requirement of filing final product exhibits and property descriptions variance. Working together towards the final product in a detailed and defined manner also resulted in a mutual agreement on the estimated cost. This supported both of our objectives and resulted in a timely but not pushed product that I can now present in a validated legal means. I would recommend CSI to perform such services if asked and also remind those that ask that if you want something really bad most likely that is the product you may end up with at a greater cost.
