The sides are so rich and delicious they could easily steel the show, even the drink menu is top tier. Now let's talk steaks. We found this restaurant while wandering around Leavenworth and decided to try it out. They were able to seat us without a reservation because it was quite early in the evening. The prices were on the higher side and since we were hungry but not starving, we decided to share a few plates. We picked the ribeye steak, the Brussels sprouts and a plate of bread and butter. Everything was delicious. The steak was seasoned perfectly and cooked exactly as we asked. The Brussels came with a Romesco sauce and were cooked perfectly as well. The sourdough bread was delicious and fresh and came with a unique furikake seasoning . This was one of the best meals we've had in awhile. read more

My husband and I happened across this restaurant while meandering through town and made a reservation on a whim. We've had the privilege of enjoying steaks from some incredible restaurants in some incredible countries, and I have to say, the steak we ordered last night was in the top 3 best steaks, if not the best steak, I've ever had. Had a celebration dinner there yesterday evening. The romaine salad was fantastic! Steak was excellent I had a filet and he had a chateaubriand, both really tasty. Nice pepper seasoning and seared perfectly. Had three sides for two people and after a big day hiking, finished them all. Super fun cocktail menu made me try one, which is not my usual thing. Service was thoughtful and gave great suggestions. The location is a bit of a hole in the wall. I know it's going for a speakeasy vibe, but it came across a bit under-finished. The ambiance here is cozy and intimate in a dimly lit room. It was an amazing reprieve from the cold outside. Staff was friendly although there was a blonde girl that was set on clearing out our plates really soon, before we were even done, which is the reason for 4 stars and not 5. I ordered beef stew which was great , my daughter ordered shrimp linguine, which was also delicious but does include capers ( which isn't listed in the menu description). To start, we ordered the sourdough with herb butter which was also very good. Overall, this is a great spot with vibes and good food. The ambience is cozy, intimate, and warm! Great spot for steak lovers, all their steak is prime, ordered locally, and cut in house. My fiancé ordered the rib eye and I ordered the braised beef served over yummy whipped potatoes. We also ordered the cavier and roasted rainbow carrots. My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant our last evening in Leavenworth. The restaurant has a very dark, cozy, romantic vibe that was perfect for a date night. We ordered drinks and they were phenomenal. My boyfriend ordered the sourdough bread appetizer and it was to die for. We decided for entrees we'd each get a filet and share the shrimp scampi. I wish I had gotten the shrimp scampi for myself... it was INCREDIBLE. The flavors of the filets were good, however, they came out cold. When we asked for them to be reheated, they came back out the same temperature. This is why 4/5 stars. The flavor is there, just I can't bring myself to give this place a perfect 5. read more

I wish I could have solidified my last rating but the Old World Chophouse could not compete with itself of 7 months ago. Something happened along the way and I'm willing to bet my life savings that it's no longer the same chef. It started with the apple bacon salad which had pork belly instead and apples that didn't measure up to what Washington State has to offer. But I didn't let that deter me, hoping for the same ribeye bliss I had the last time. It's just that the 16 oz 'ribeye' wasn't a ribeye but a New York steak no doubt. And when I pointed that out I was told some smoke screen story about "steak continuum" that didn't fool me. It was also overcooked for medium, which I would have never ordered had I known. This is kind of a big deal. Mismanagement galore in the name of cost cutting, seen it before and such dire measures always had the same inevitable outcome; I'm not sure if they still break even with mostly empty booths on a Saturday night, but my feeling is they won't be here much longer, mark my word. Oh yeah, the ambiance was very nice, like I remember, wooden booths and cozy. I just wish it were easier to find to benefit from some foot traffic. read more

We finally understood why nobody would posts recent reviews for this place. The whole experience is screaming CHEAP.. except the bill. 500$. The party of 3 and a child. We were suggested family style " experience" by the waiter Emma, That means: no one can order their own plate (unless they want to pay $119+ for individual steak) The whole table needs to agree on everything. The food is very plain....they give you flavored butter for exactly pieces of the bread by the guest. 4 people 4 pieces of bread., No plain butter, just flavored with sauce.... no exceptions no excuses like a detention center. The steak was ok .....not seasoned well but put on the grill. Our overall experience is I cook better grill and more gracious experience than Old World Chop!!! We had dinner here while on our annual Christmas trip to Leavenworth and overall thought it was pretty good. It's located on the main street in downtown right across from the park with all the lights. We made reservations and got seated right away when we arrived. It's a pretty small place with some bar seating and booths tucked in here and there. The rustic wood and low lighting give it a great ambiance. Our server was nice and helpful and everything gluten free was labeled on the menu making selections easy. We decided to start with the side of pork belly which did not disappoint. It was delicious. We'd been snacking all day so we shared a filet and potatoes. The temp was spot on for the steak and the potatoes were nicely seasoned. The only thing we didn't like were our drinks. They only have a couple choices of wine by the glass and it only has the type, not the name or brand of the vineyard so you aren't sure what you're getting. The cab was not very good and my husband had a cranberry fizz cocktail he didn't like. They have lots of by the bottle choices if you want to go that route tho. Overall food and service were both solid and I could see us returning during next year's trip. read more

Everything we had was delish! They have a great selection of different cut. We had 7oz crown and it was the best I ever had! Literally melts in your mouth. I've yet to actually have any of the food here, which is unfortunate because I hear it is good. I can say for certain though, the drinks are very good which have made up my visits here. I've had some Ale's like the Orval Trappist Ale, a bit bitter but full of flavor to the cocktails like the Bourbon Derby which made for a great sipper into the night. Even got to try a swig of a flan infused beer one of the staff wanted to try out. We'd have some desserts each visit. The chocolate custard is really good, strawberry was alright, not really my flavor but did have a nice consistent texture. There was also a lemon creme dessert with a heavy essence from the lemon peels was nice too for a more fruity and fragrant flavor. The layout in Old World, looks like Old World and it's awesome. Big thick wood booths that are sturdy and nothing seems to be too close together like other restaurants. The drinks are great here as mentioned as is the staff who of course make the drinks, but are very friendly and personable which is always wonderful. Maybe one day I'll come in for more than just drinks, but with so many places closing early, Old World Pub makes for a later night drink spot in the area easy. read more

I highly recommend reading the temperature guide on the menu to make sure you order exactly how you like it. Service was fine, though a bit minimal. We tried the bread and truffle butter. Kind of a dark hole in the wall. We weren't too sure when we walked in, but the reviews were good so we kept an open mind. We asked our waitress about some of the steak options from the menu when she brought our waters. She was nice enough to hold the last 19 oz steak for us while we figured out our sides, then we heard her sell the steak to the people behind us. We ended up with a smaller steak, oh well. After taking our order she asked if we wanted some bread / butter and we said sure. Turns out it was $15 for 4 slices of bread and some butter. The steak and sides were pretty good. I give this place four stars. It would be five stars if they had a burger option at dinner (for the locals) and carried some of their lunch items into the dinner hour (see below) . The bartender and the service is great. My buddy Scott created the menu and the items and set up the meat purveyor. I ordered the salad and bread one night with a couple of beers and the other night I had the filet (the menu says fillet, but who's counting) :) mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts. I only have a couple of issues with this place and I hope they address them because if they did this place would be super great, up from just merely great. 1. They need a burger on the menu. Not everyone can afford a 40-50 dollar piece of meat A la carte, every night. If you like this place, the atmosphere, etc. your only choice if you want to eat something substantial is a prime cut of meat. They also need to maintain some of their lunch menu sandwiches into dinner, especially on the weekdays when town is slow and locals come dine. I know they have limited seating space and if they are looking at "per table revenue" I can see why they do what they do but I think they could pack the place and expand into an enclosed heated outdoor area by doing this. 2. I think they need more vegetable sides and salad options on the menu. They only have one salad offering (and if you don't like vinaigrette with pears you're in a bit of trouble). 3. They had my favorite beer but only in cans. Drinking cans of beer is for floating the river. If they have bottles or a small keg that would be so much better. I just don't like canned beer. Probably just me. Otherwise the food is great, the steak was delicious, their bread is outstanding, the bar is warm and inviting, the tables aren't refined or anything (in fact the restaurant looks exactly like my uncles paneled basement bar that he built himself, it was very cool, but it's not representative of the fine dining vibe they have going on there but totally serviceable) and relative to every other restaurant in town trying to do fine dining they are by far the best. Based on how good their meat supplier is I bet they'd have one hell of a burger. Bring it on. read more

Not a basic chain restaurant! We loved the atmosphere, much like McMenamins in Oregon, but the food and cocktails rival Napa Valley restaurants! We started with a citrus salad with fennel and blood orange, along with other fresh and unique vegetables. Husband then had the filet medium well while mine was the Chateaubriand medium rare, both perfectly seasoned & prepared, mine was so tender I barely needed a steak knife. Side dish of smoked carrot & roast potatoes with a mouth watering black garlic & butter sauce on the side. We finished with the Tamarind parfait, as you can see from the picture deconstructed. The flavors mixed together were amazing! My husband is incredibly picky, but enjoyed every dish served. A couple of items I need to disclose, don't expect the menu to be the same as you see online we didn't see pork chops, but the steak options were greatly expanded. Another item that cannot be helped is the acoustics of the restaurant, I am hard of hearing and really struggled to hear my server. Finally, our server was amazing and attentive. This is definitely a place you have to visit if you need a fancy dinner to go to in Leavenworth. The interior of this restaurant was very intimate and cozy. It was dimly lit with lavish decorations. I loved the blackboard they had near the kitchen which showcased the cuts of meat they still had available. The tables had a sense of privacy with the spacious booths and distance between the tables. The staff were incredibly polite and knowledgeable about the menu, helping us navigate the menu with ease. The food on the other hand was amazing. Everything had such great flavor and presentation, we ate everything. If you're up for something new, definitely try the beef tartare. It's one of the best I've had. read more

If you want an over priced steak undercooked, twice, this is your spot. We ordered two Ribeyes and a New York strip for our son. The New York was cooked perfectly. The two ribeyes were bloody when we cut them open. My wife and asked for medium. Their solution to this was to take them and put them on the grill again. When they came back they were still bloody. We were so hungry we ate what we could. They did comp one steak, but they really should of comped both. Since they weren't cooked as we requested. It's a steak house, how do you mess this up?!?! This joint is fantastic! I never EVER leave reviews but I want the community/visitors to know how excellent the Old World Pub is! My fiancé and I came to town last week to celebrate our anniversary on a whim. With no real plans for our trip to Leavenworth, we snagged an open table on a Tuesday night (as we are service industry folks ourselves) and WOW! I couldn't believe the quality of the dinner we were provided. He ordered the 16 oz ribeye, and I, the 8 oz filet. Both cooked to a perfect med rare! We also shared a side of mashed potatoes. The Chef (I regretfully forget his name) paired a beer and scotch with our meal after coming to our table and speaking with us! All around, each member of the staff was phenomenal from start to finish. I highly recommend this establishment and haven't stopped talking about it all week. This place is absolutely amazing. We came for a bachelorette party pretty close to closing and the staff was excellent at accommodating a bigger group at the last minute. Granted it might not always be this way, but it worked out for us thank goodness! I'm not sure if they do reservations but maybe call ahead to check so you can get a seat at this awesome spot. They totally made our night with the friendly service and delicious food. They have really fun choices for cocktails and everything we had was delicious. I tried the Pecorino Pasta which was scrumptious and one of my girlfriends ordered the halibut which was so delicate it melted in your mouth. I would definitely suggest the halibut. We ordered some sides of asparagus and Brussels Sprouts which were both welcomed pairings. I would say the Brussels were my favorite if I had to pick one.
