One of us ordered fish and chips to split and asked for the extra piece at an extra price as listed on the menu. He said we don't do that. When we pointed out that the menu said you do he said well the cook makes the menu they can do whatever they want. He was rude and condescending the whole time and did want to be there. He never smiled or asked how our meal was and then I had to hunt him down at the bar to pay. When I paid cash he asked if I wanted my change which would have been a 30 percent tip if I didn't take it. When I said yes he glared at me and acted like I totally put him out. His lack of service and nastiness was noticed by all in our party. If he is the owner that is a shame and if he is not I would recommend replacing him. We all enjoyed the food and drink it was only the service.

A group of locals sitting nearby were singing loudly to the speaker music. Not a huge deal, but a little annoying--they might have been over-served. We actually had to ask someone else to order an appetizer: the Pimento dip. The dip itself was delicious, but the accompanying veggies were a little slimy. The dish looked beautiful initially, but we couldn't eat some of the vegetables because they weren't fresh. Anyway, it's a shame. Based on this experience, we probably won't be back.

I will definitely be back for that. This bar has been here 85 years, and I moved here 30 years ago but had never been here till this evening. I'm guessing the food here is better than most of the restaurants in Wenatchee. The decor is plain and simple. The ambience is what you would expect in a local bar with a long history and a loyal local clientele. Nonetheless, the service was excellent and the staff was friendly. Even being charged a 4% credit card processing fee, food pricing is better than other restaurants. So are the quality and portion sizes. New tables and chairs with cushioned seating fill two dining rooms. And there is plenty of offstreet parking. All things considered, it's worth the 20 minute drive from Wenatchee down to Rock Island, just to enjoy the food and the drinks. I don't think anyone gets turned away here. What's not to like? This was a five star experience for me.

We made sure to close our tab so that our tip will go to her before she left. She answered all our questions and if she wasn't sure, she made sure to get the answer elsewhere for us. There was a football game that didn't start for another hour so we asked if we could play pool. She let us know that the projector would need to be put up but said to play pool anyways and she'll see what night staff would do. So we did. We were finishing up our last game and went back to our seats. My bf asked the new servers if they could play the sound of the game and he just flat out said "no". I then asked a different server if we could pull down the projector like it was earlier with the sound, and he looked at me straight in the eye and said "no" and walked away. There was no conversation. I would have appreciated it if we were given a reason as why it wasn't possible when they were doing it the entire day. After our original server left, we were not checked on at least once. The only time we got their attention was when we had to waive them down and asked for a beer. When we finished that, we left it on the table to see if they would notice. I started a timer too. The bartender or server was playing poker too which I didn't understand considering it was pretty busy. My bf who plays poker noticed one of the dealers wasn't dealing top card during the game so be cautious playing the card game here. They have changed the space since I last came and just have the downstairs area. We were out on the patio which was lovely on a warm spring day. I got the mint refresher, peanut bowl, and we shared the garlic bread. The refresher was delicious on a hot day. I loved the peanut bowl and all the fresh vegetables in it as well as the cod and shrimp. The garlic bread was simple but hit the spot. Service was quick this time around. They also had live music.

It was not until we stood up to leave that they said we will be with you in a minute. I said "too little too late" and we walked out. The second time we tried it recently it was a Tuesday afternoon. 3 tables with people and same thing happened but we only waited 10 minutes this time. To be honest these owners have several cafe's around Chelan county and every one has been either bad service or mediocre food. So they will never see another dollar from me
