I had the fish and chips which was ok, we had a good time, I would probably come back and try something else.

Looking at the reviews, my husband and I decided to check this place out. It is beautifully decorated still from Christmas. The hostess sat us in a booth across the main bar. Waitress came immediately and got our drink order and appetizer. Husband got tea and I ordered a Whisky Sour which was very good. Waitress was very attentive and took our appetizer order in which we chose the Ruben wonton rolls. They were absolutely wonderful! Now, here's where it goes wrong. She assisted us with our questions then is nonexistent. We waited.... I watched a guy from another end of the building and his lady were having dinner have to go up to the bar to the same waitress and ask her to check out... And we waited, and we waited!!! I even had menus at edge of table with empty appetizer plates. Finally, my husband waves her down and she takes our order. My husband ordered Guinness Fish and Chips and I ordered Shepherds Pie. A different girl brings me my salad and leaves. She is nice enough. I notice there's no salt and pepper on the table so I wait patiently for her to look over or come back. But she is talking to the previous waitress who is sitting on a stool on the other end of the bar. So I give up I go up to the bar and ask for my salt and pepper and she gives it to me. Salad was good. Fish n Chips was great. Tasted fresh and was nice and flakey. My shepherds pie was delicious. Then we waited........and waited. We wanted to get bread pudding for dessert and eat it there but after waiting for 15 minutes we decided when she finally comes we are ordering it to go and checking out immediately. That is exactly what we did. So, if you want great food, this place has it. However, the service is awful! If you come here make sure your a patient person and have lots of time. Or sit at the bar rail. The guests there got premium service. read more

Came here with a large group to watch the NCAA wrestling tournament. They had been there 30 min before I came and had already ordered. After a little bit someone finally came to get my order. About 5 min later everyone else's food came out except for one person. Everyone was a little mad because they had been waiting for about an hour but everyone was happy once they started eating because the food was actually really good. My order ended up coming out fairly fast and actually came out before that one person who had not received their order yet. It wasn't until everyone was finished eating and all the plates were cleared that their order finally came. I got the dick titus commercial and it truly is a great comfort food. I would definitely recommend trying it if you like mashed potatoes and gravy. All in all the food was top tier but the service was very subpar. Very much over priced and the atmosphere is rather stuffy. There is no parking to be found near the entrance, so be prepared to walk a bit.

Fish in fish and chips dinner had a very soggy coating and not much flavor. Corned beef dinner average. I didn't really care for the Baileys cheesecake in terms of either texture or flavor. Our first time here we had a beer(Guinness). It was fine. This time we had lunch. Menu is extensive enough that we were intimidated slightly. Went with the bartender's recommendation for the chowder (7 different seafoods) and fish and chips. WOW. Great chowder, perfectly seasoned with perfect hint of spice. Marvelous seafood pieces and not over done with potato. Fish was gorgeous big chunk (2) Cod! Perfect. Chips were delightful. And that bartender, oh my she made the meal! Setting, actually settings. The food is always super good, and I have tried a lot of items off the menu. My favorite things to get are the Dick Titus Commercial with a Guinness. The sheperds pie and meatloaf are also great options. The downside is that the staff is not that great. I am always greeted with a smile and warm welcome, but once we order the food is slow to arrive and the staff rarely checks in. read more

Good place to sit and have a pint with your mates. Food was good. The mussels, scotch egg, and seafood soup were delicious The shepherds pie was on the bland side. This is really an update to my original review that was interrupted by my wife who really triggered me to write one in the first place. The manager did reach out to me already but that is not going to do me any good since I was visiting Rochester like many people do for the wonderful hospital that resides there. So I am going to be short here. My food I could taste rancid fat in my sandwich, My wife's chicken wings were stringy and old and she had to throw them up afterwards. My parents were with me and also had their own experience. My mother ordered Muscles (appetizer menu) and half of them either never opened or the shells were broken indicating that someone tried to force them open. Muscles have to be cooked while they are still alive to be fresh and these clearly were all dead for some time. My Mother said they tasted like they had begun to rot already. I can't even remember what my Father ordered but I do remember him saying it was old and had a rancid taste to it. So the only thing that was not clearly too old to be served was the beer. This would be one place to avoid in Rochester. Either that or be prepared to have the food ruin your night coming out both ends. read more

Second time visiting Olde Brick House, and this time for lunch and wow! I had the Nashville Mac + Cheese. The waitress recommended having the chicken grilled with the hot sauce on the side and she was spot on (usually comes breaded with the sauce mixed in). Then she said to reheat the leftover on low and again - spot on! My colleagues had the fish and chips and said some of the best they have had outside of England. Be careful with takeout orders. Lots of mistakes tonight with our order. First, the kids fish and chips came with one tiny silver dollar size piece of fish. When I called to complain, they said the portion is only one "single" piece. Terrible value and your child be be disappointed and hungry. One to the mains, the first order was completely wrong. On the refire, the Tenderloin steak is about 1/2 in thick and so smothered with mushroom gravy it's hard to determine if Olde Brick House is simply serving flat iron steak and passing it off as Tenderloin. Their answer to this is that they "tenderize" all Tenderloin steaks before putting them on the grill? Think about that, they say they're beating the hell out of what should be a beautiful tender cut of beef. Terrible value for mystery meat. The hard ciabatta bread wasn't good either and we weren't given butter. Better tasting bread can be found at the Hy-Vee. All in all a very expensive and mediocre meal and we won't be back. There are much better options in Rochester. read more

Also their special sauce seemed like a sour cream with dill (but I could be totally wrong) and some unidentifiable spices. Would need to eat more of it to figure it out but it was good on the fries. Fries/chips were thick cut. Broccoli slaw is more on the sweet side with more of a light Mayo versus a vinegar sauce. Will eat here again. read more

This place is AWESOME. Definitely a refreshing addition to the boring Rochester restaurant scene. The atmosphere is vibrant and fun, with a fun music that makes you want to hang out and order more food and drinks. Speaking of food, we had the chicken Marsala and the fish and chips. Both were excellent and very nicely prepared, and a nice size portion! We also had seafood chowder and Guinness beef stew, both of which were really good. I almost forgot we were in Rochester. Their drink selection is extensive with a lot of nice craft cocktails. I tried the applewood smoked old fashioned made with mole bitters. Very impressed with the quality of the cocktail. Not a single complaint about this place. If you like a fun atmosphere with safe social distancing and amazing food/drinks, you need to give them a try. Wow! This place was packed when we arrived, so we sat at the bar. The service was a little slow, but not surprising since they were so busy. Bottom line, don't come here if you are in a rush. The food was great. Smashed peas, epic. Creamed cabbage was also delicious. I was skeptical to try meatloaf at a restaurant, but was not disappointed. They have, not only, a great happy hour and menu to support it, but a fairly large and widely appealing regular lunch and dinner menu to choose from. We got there just before the 3pm happy hour start and were seated at a high table off the back bar. Jas was our server and bartender as well. She is awesome! The poutine was extremely addicting and flavorful ... fantastic with any beverage. This is an Irish pub as well as restaurant, so all the Irish liquor, beer, ale, and cider you can imagine. The Rueben rolls are very good, but could definitely use more filling to balance out large amount of wrap encasing them. The chicken fajita was HUGE and extremely flavorful. Fantastic salad! The fish was moist and plentiful portions, both broiled and fried. I definitely recommend as a staple go-to. I highly recommend the food and atmosphere for a definite stop when in the area! read more
