I had a wonderful dinner on Thursday evening. There are many options to choose from. I tried the bruschetta and it was wonderful. I had to request new bread because the pieces that accompanied the appetizer had a huge hole that ran throughout the loaf. This made it difficult to spread the bruschetta on it. I was happy that the waiter understood and replaced the bread. The meatloaf was a large helping and tasted so delicious. The mashed potatoes and the cabbage was a perfect compliment to the wonderful meatloaf dinner. I ended up taking the left overs back to my hotel room and knew that I would really enjoy eating another meal out of this. I had the Crème Brûlée for dessert and that definitely was worth the drive to Rochester. I live in WI and drove my friend to the Mayo Clinic for various appointments that I knew would take up our entire Friday. I was so happy that I had a great meal to have the energy to take on the following day. The last time that I dined at this restaurant I had a wonderful sandwich called the Dick Titus Commercial. This sandwich is shaved Prime rib and Swiss cheese layered between grilled sourdough. It is served with champ mashed potatoes and smothered with Guinness gravy. This sandwich was so big that I split it with my friend. I still remember the taste of it even though it has been 2 years since I last had it. I am a foodie and I really enjoy good food and great friends to share a meal with. I am so happy that I had the time to dine in your restaurant prior to leaving back home. This quaint little pub is like a quick trip to Ireland but conveniently located in downtown Rochester. As soon as you enter you are transported to the Emerald Isle with lovely decor including two beautiful bar areas. Our waitress (Kate) was the greatest. She pointed us to the perfect picks for us and was such a phenomenal host for our night. Our drinks were perfect and the best we've had in a long time. Our food was lighter in flavor but perfectly and intentionally balanced just well crafted. We had the Whisky Sour. It was the best real whiskey sour we have ever had. My wife and I stopped into the Olde Brick House for dinner while at Mayo. Looking for a good pub is always on our list while traveling and the Old Brick House did not disappoint. Our server Adrian was awesome and recommended the fish and chips, so we ordered up a couple Guinness and placed our order for fish and chips and a shepherds pie. I noticed a few references to Cork Ireland around the pub and having recently been there mentioned it to Adrian as he delivered our dinner. Wow! After tasting the fish and chips I told my wife it was like I was back in Cork having fish and chips! They were delicious. We even made it a point to dine a second night with them and tried the shaved lamb stroganoff and a couple more Guinness. Do yourself a favor and stop by if you are in town and ask for Adrian. Ate a couple of days ago at Olde Brick House. Ordered the pretzels, fish & chips with seafood chowder. My wife ordered the Caesar salad and the Nashville Mac &Cheese. My dishes were all excellent. The seafood chowder is really a clam chowder, given that the predominant seafood were clams, and there were a lot of clams. The seafood had a level of complexity and sophistication not found in your average tavern. The chowder was clearly a notch or two above the average. The pretzels were excellent with two types of dipping sauces--one a classic beer cheese and a second which is best described as a white cheddar with horseradish. Both were very good. The fish and chips were hot and the cod was flaky. The broccoli slaw was outstanding, and I'd highly recommend it. My wife had the Caesar Salad and proclaimed it delicious. The Nashville Mac& Cheese was among the very best, if not the best Mac & Cheese I've tasted. Rich and cheesy with four different types of cheeses and plenty of perfectly cooked bacon. The dish was topped with Nashville-type breaded chicken pieces, which were hot, juicy, and mildly spiced with Nashville hot sauce. The chicken complemented the Mac & Cheese perfectly. Highly recommend this restaurant, and plan to go back often. read more

My friend and I both had the Shepherd's Pie with creamed cabbage and ciabatta bread. It wasn't a lot of food but it was tasty. The service was adequate. We didn't feel pestered and yet our waiter stopped by several times to make sure we weren't wanting for anything. It's a pub, so wasn't really cozy or romantic and was a little louder than was tolerable for conversation across the table but it was clean. Overall, would go back next time we're in town. read more

Went to old brick house on a Saturday night and I was extremely impressed. The ambience does a great job of making you feel like you're in an Irish pub. The food was INCREDIBLE. I got the Celtic meatloaf with the Guinness gravy and my partner got the fish and chips. The meatloaf was rich, contrasted by the crunchy bite of the onion straws. This was the pinnacle of a "meat and potatoes" meal and I loved it. The only recommendation id have is for a little acid in the meatloaf or a pickled component to cut the richness of everything. I also tried the fish and chips and they were wonderful. Crisp coating, not overly greasy, and flaky flavorful fish. This is a wonderful place for dinner or just drinks. Check it out! read more

9/22: Just an update that the manager has reached out to me to find out about the steaks and to chat! Really great to see follow up and dedication like that. We will definitely go back to the restaurant when we head back to Rochester! : ) ------- This was a tough back and forth. Max, our waiter was fantastic and charming, and several others helped him out, and the personality of the whole place is just lovely. I would be just as happy to bring a two year-old in here as to bring a business party. Pluses: the shrimp scampi was hands-down one of the best things I have had in a long time. Tons of butter and garlic and cream, which I don't usually love was blended perfectly here. There may have even been some Parmesan grated in there, and I have to say it was spectacular. My teenager who eats very plain simple food insisted on taking the sauce in a small to go container, and dipping the bread in it until it was gone. The beet salad was also beautifully dressed, and out of this world and I would return here from Boston just for those two things. And unfortunately, we ordered the tenderloin and the sirloin and both steaks were just not good... the texture was almost processed, and the grade was low. I would not have minded the smaller cuts, but they were just inedible. The wild rice pilaf sounds pretty and looks good but something is off. I don't know if it's too much carrot or too much veggie? The mashed potatoes are on point and we asked for a side to go. The cocktail with the blackberries muddled into it was absolutely lovely, but needed a little more kick for me so I ordered a shot and tossed it in there. And I will go back in a heartbeat and try different entrees. And get the shrimp scampi and beet salad again..... read more

I was sadly disappointed by my experience here. The atmosphere is nice- fits your traditional pub feel. The service was incredibly slow even though it was not very busy. The server forgot my glass of wine and brought it with my check (nearly 30 minutes later) at very the end when he remembered. By that point, I sent it back and had to request he remove it from the check. I ordered the mahi mahi which was featured with a photo on the menu. It was a good portion, but the fish was over cooked. For nearly $30, I expected a more satisfying meal. My husbands fish and chips was better. read more

This place is amazing. Great food, great service, and fantastic decor. We ate there four times over the last week. Every dish was delicious and perfectly prepared. Not one misstep. And it's definitely not just Irish pub fare. Some of the chef's creations are quite original and fresh (try the chef's take on a French/Canadian favorite, called Shepherd's Pie Poutine - brilliant). Wonderful! Everything that we ordered was great. The service was consistently friendly and attentive. Perfect. And the ambience? Very high-end attractive and cozy. Our server explained that everything we could see in the restaurant was shipped in from Ireland. And the prices? Very reasonable and comparable to many places in town, and well below prices at the expensive Italian places nearby (which were okay, but not worth the hype, in our opinion.) Olde Brick House is one of the very few places that is open when pretty much everything else in town is closed. They have a terrace, too, if you prefer dining outside. We had a great experience at Olde Brick House last night. Each of us ordered a traditional Irish dish and everyone raved about their meal. We highly recommend the Guinness stew, the shepherd's pie and bangers & mash. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. It is so nice to visit a restaurant that isn't one big room where it is difficult to carry on a conversation. The smaller sections provide a more intimate experience. The service was exceptional! Our waiter provided service that above and beyond our expectations. My husband needed a wheelchair at the end of the meal due to a medical issue, our waiter made arrangements to have a wheelchair brought over from a nearby hotel. Perhaps I came on an off day. But I have no idea how this place got 4.5 stars, even at the "elevated bar food" standard. Service was rather inattentive despite the restaurant not being very busy. My first set of silverware had obvious dried pieces of food on both the knife and fork; the second set brought was ok. I ordered the fish and chips and a cup of seafood chowder. The chowder never arrived; I asked them to take it off the bill. The battered/deep fried cod was good and as expected. The potato wedges were tasty and hot...except for the ones that had large black spots on the potatoes. Even if they came precut and frozen the bad fries should have easily been noticed and taken off the plate. The broccoli slaw dressing was overly thick and cloyingly sweet. My wife's curry noodles were overcooked to the point of mushiness. The overall experience spoke to an overall carelessness in food prep and service. So...there is potential here, but this lunch experience wasn't anything to encourage us to return. read more

I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because I have tried several recommendations and they are not all 5 star worthy. This is a chain restaurant so it's not the place to go if you are looking for locally owned businesses. Service has consistently been very good and timely food. By far the best thing I have had is the corned beef and cabbage. Skip the peas, it's fancy baby food. I was disappointed with the meatloaf, not something I would normally order and because of the excessive reviews I did... it is good and I would rather eat mine. The Ruben is good... they put a good amount of sauerkraut on it and corned beef. In the future, I will ask for a side of 1,000 island because I don't think they put on enough. The corned beef was not dry at all so that is a big plus. read more

So many mixed feelings about the Olde Brick House. As I entered the pub, I gotta very warm pub vibe. The dark wood and and quaint overall atmosphere is welcoming. We sat down and and we're acknowledged right away. We were given water very quickly and placed our order right after. So here what made the 3 rating. One of us ordered a beer. Now you would think a bottle of beer would come to the table rather quickly, however it did not. We waited on our food and chatted a bit. Where's the beer? Huh Then the food comes? Where's the bottle of beer? Oh, let me see if the bar has it ready...it's a bottle of beer. So the food: Rueben egg rolls: they looked very rich and creamy. They had a lot of cheese in them. My friend didn't care for them but I think it was a preference related to texture for her but the flavor was very good The fries: hot fresh and well seasoned The cheesecake: definitely real cheese cake. Extremely rich and creamy. Flavor was excellent but no way anyone could eat a full piece. Crust was nutty and on point. read more

My fiancés old fashion was good as well. We got the scotch eggs as well as the shepherds pie poutine. Both were delicious and filling and enough to suffice as a meal for the both of us.
