Not Worth the Hype or the Price. I was really looking forward to my visit at Olde Soul Barbershop after reading so many glowing reviews about the shop's cool vibe and atmosphere. The place does have a great aesthetic, and I understand that's part of why they charge premium prices. Unfortunately, my experience with Andi, the head barber, was extremely disappointing and not at all worth the $55 I paid. I specifically chose Andi because of her position as head barber and the positive comments from others. I assumed I'd get a top-tier cut and experience, but I was very wrong. My entire haircut took just 18 minutes-barely enough time for a thorough job, especially since my hair is thick ($3.05 per minute). Most barbers I've seen in the past take at least an hour to ensure everything is perfect. Andi seemed rushed from the start, and I felt like she just wanted to get me out the door as quickly as possible. I asked for a low fade and for my length to be maintained, with some texturizing in the front. What I got was a choppy, uneven cut with no real fade at all-just a clear line where the blade sizes changed. When I reminded her about texturizing (after she'd already taken off the cape and was ready to send me on my way), she brushed it off and refused to do it. There was no shape to my hair, and the blend on the sides was lazy at best. I honestly could have gotten a better cut at a chain salon for half the price. To make matters worse, during the neck shave, Andi nicked me and made my neck bleed-a first for me in all my years of going to barbers. She didn't seem concerned or apologetic, and overall, she was not meticulous or attentive. I left the shop with hair all over my neck, shoes, and hairline-she didn't even bother to clean me up. There was no attempt at conversation, and I felt like she didn't care about my experience or whether I'd come back. I had to ask for product in my hair, and she told me the only thing that would work was a texturizing powder-which she didn't even have. What stings the most is that I saw other clients in the shop getting much better haircuts from Luke, Harlon, and Mitchel-their work looked great, and their clients seemed happy. I definitely chose the wrong barber, and I left feeling ripped off and unhappy with my haircut (or lack thereof). When you pay top dollar, you expect to leave feeling confident and refreshed-not frustrated and disappointed. If you decide to try Olde Soul Barbershop, my advice is to avoid Andi and book with Luke, Harlon, or Mitchel instead. There are plenty of other barbershops in town with more skilled barbers and better prices. I won't be returning. read more

The guy is incredibly talented at what he does. The whole shop is sick, the people are awesome and you can't go wrong with anyone because of the talent in there. This place has a nice atmosphere although when I went in it was empty. I came in for a trim and line up on my face and i can say that I did not feel satisfied. The service was only $15 so it isn't a bad price but I don't feel like she really try. The service includes a razor shave which I had to request after she asked if everything looked fine. I thought maybe it would help but it didn't. I sometimes do my face at home so when I go to a barber I expect it to look better than when I do it myself and honestly, I could have done exactly what she did to me and not spent the money. Visiting Austin for a bachelor party and had to get lined up going into the weekend. Everywhere looked like a salon, but I needed a real barber shop. Ended up finding Olde Soul and was glad I did. Tre hooked it up with a mid bald fade and it looked great. He even cleaned up the beard and finished with a hot towel. This place was great. I'm sure this place is great and this was the reason I drove to Olde Soule BS from my hotel. Receptionist was great, she offered me a beverage and sat me down with a smile. Aracely, didn't pay much attention when she was talking to the receptionist. After the Receptionist left me on the chair I said hello to Aracely and she had the same attitude with me. To the owner, Aracely does not fit the employee of the month. Aracely, I'm sure you do a great job. But, you need to change your attitude when people walk in. He opened his own shop recently and man is he crushing the game. You're not rushed in and out of the chair and his level of detail is unmatched. I'm from out of town, so the idea of $45 for a haircut was wild to me... but, when In Austin I guess. I assumed that paying so much for a haircut would guarantee a high quality of service, especially as I was assigned a mid/high teir barber. I was wrong. the cut itself was okay, all I got was a fade and line up. but the rest... I am writing this review 2 weeks later after having to visit a doctor/dermatologist to treat my razor burn and get antibacterial medication. It was my first time with Chris and I specifically chose him because I love what I saw through his Instagram page. I was already 15 minutes late to my appointment which was also the last appointment before they closed and I did see that he was bothered by it which I completely understand but he also took his time with my haircut, he also tried to get to know he as well. I've been seeing Edgar for a while now and I love having a barber that just knows how I want my cut. He helped me grow it out and select a great styling method using a toner and some fiber pomade. He's always been helpful in suggesting new products, but has never seemed pushy or salesman-like. His fades are always on-point and whenever I've had feedback about anything (it was only one time that I didn't feel like my part was as well done), he made sure to correct it to perfection the next time. His new shop is super convenient with street parking, booking is simple online, and there are no surprises with the price. Only thing I'm not a fan of is that I have to put a CC down to make a reservation, but his cancellation/no-show policy is reasonable and makes sense, so he continues to get my business! read more

I've been meaning to sit down and write this for a while. This is actually my first review and well-deserved one at that. I first met Edgar and George at the previous barbershop I went to. I was distraught by them leaving until I realized barber instagrams were a thing. From there I was able to find Edgar and was so excited to see he had opened a shop!! I can't rave enough about these guys. I don't trust anyone else with my hair. I've changed my cut probably 7-8 times since I've known Edgar and he's nailed it each time. I've referred 5-6 people here who all love it as well and have gotten haircuts from each of the guys there. All awesome. One of the things I appreciate most is that the haircuts are 40 min instead of 30. This allows them to give the client at hand every bit of attention without stressing about running behind. Not to mention, very pleased with how they've handled COVID and taking the utmost precautions to keep everyone safe. Some people might hesitate to take a step up from their typical $15-20 haircut but honestly, what better to invest $15 more dollars in than a confident you. The difference is so noticeable.
