The store was full of gorgeous canvases many of which are designed by the owner and stitch painted. They are breathtaking. There are several rooms plus one whole room devoted just to threads. The owner, Mary Jo, was a wealth of needlepoint knowledge and eager to share. I chose a beautiful Maine inspired belt designed by Mary Jo. It is the perfect souvenir of a trip to Maine. Although I live 3 hours away I will return often to shop here and also call and have things sent to me. I left still drooling over all the canvases that are available only here.

On the recommendation of my local needlepoint shop, I contacted this shop about finishing two…read moreneedlepoint Christmas ornaments. I made a phone call to the shop and offered to take photos and email them to get an idea of cost but was turned down. I was told to send my canvases UPS to the shop which I did. A few days later I received a phone call and we discussed the finishing. Then I was told the cost would be a $168 for the simpler of the two ornaments . I said "no thanks" and was charged $20 to return my small canvases. I have had similar ornaments finished for $40. This may be a lovely brick and mortar store but their finishing costs are staggering.

When my fiance and I walked up to the door, Karleen had signs to make sure that anyone entering was wearing a mask and was up to date with all COVID-19 precautions. She had a doorbell that we rang, in order to enter. She said that she has an autoimmune disease so she needs to be careful, and I respect the heck out of being careful - especially during this time. Let's talk about the store: It was filled with so many goodies! Karleen and her children made the majority of the items being sold in the store. They are all thoughtfully made and of great quality! I bought two bracelets for some friends for Christmas. I even bought a Darth Vadar keychain for a different friend, and Karleen told me that she had made a matching mask to go with it! How awesome!! She explained that her sons are on the Autism spectrum and how some of the items they sold were to help others who are also autistic. She said she helps families who have autistic children by sharing her experiences, trials, and tribulations. Her sons also work in the store when they aren't attending school via zoom, which helps them learn skills that can take them into adulthood. I think that Karleen is brilliant and between the combination of the goods they make and sell, how she helps others, and how wonderful she was to talk to made for the best experience ever! If you have a person or four, as I did today, to buy a gift for, buy the gifts at a League of NH Craftsmen store. You will find items for anywhere from $10 to $1,000+. I guy wedding gifts, Christmas gift, Birthday gifts and oops, sorry honey gifts. I like to keep one of the ladder on hand for those not so special occasions. No, I know none of the craftsmen, nor do I know any of the employees of these shops, but I have always been very successful buying gifts here. I think you will be too.

Went down to purchase a binder and a box of Magic cards. Went for a specific set (Founations) and…read morethe clerk Terry kept recommending a different set (New Phyrexia) . I finally decided to buy the box I wanted, thought I saw Terry pull the exact set I wanted (foundations) and purchased the items, I hit no receipt since the store doesn't do paper and didn't want to enter email or phone numbers. Terry asked if I wanted bag for the box of cards and I said sure. I leave with the binder and bagged set of cards, go home and pull out the set Terry was pushing, not the set I requested. I called the store and Terry is still talking about the set he wanted to sell instead of the set I wanted to buy, suggesting I had confused him when I never mentioned New Phyrexia. I told him I hit no reciept and he tells me it's 'well that's your problem'. Well now it's the store's problem Terry because you used Bait and switch tactics on a customer who realize your friendly act is a grift. I'll never go buy from this store again. The product is overpriced there anyways.
