I cannot believe how packed this restaurant was for a Thursday evening. We had a party of seven with a reservation. When the table was ready "your table is ready but it's really tight. Would you be okay with that"? After flying to Colorado and then driving three hours to get to Nebraska, that didn't seem appealing. Well, everyone was hungry so we took it. The table was awful to sit at. I had to sit on the corner of the table and so did someone else in our party. Bean dip and chips were on the table. That bean dip was so good. The salsas were great as well. If you want more chips and bean dip, they do charge you for it. Just a heads up. I ordered the chicken tacos - not great. No flavor at all. The tacos were a nice size. But I really couldn't eat them unless I added a ton of salsa. My husband ordered the fish tacos and didn't eat his said "these are the plainest fish tacos I have ever eaten. I just can't make them taste good no matter what I do" People seem to love this place. The waitress was GREAT! She was so on top of us, had a great disposition and smile. My expectations were not very high for this restaurant as I was aware that this is a Mexican restaurant in Nebraska so authentic Mexican food could not be expected. Locals said this place was supposed to be authentic and very good but although there was a wait and the restaurant states they have authentic Mexican food my suspicions were right. It is a nice looking place with a very friendly staff but nothing special when it comes to food. If there is a wait I would suggest going somewhere else. I'm in Scottsbluff, NE on my way to Utah. This was my stopover for tonight. I grabbed a room at the Quality Inn and this restaurant was directly behind it . If you follow my reviews, you'll notice that I travel quite extensively in my work and it seems like I always find a Mexican restaurant. I'm also a foodie. I am not picky, but I am particular. I like the way the food looks, I like the ambience of the restaurant and of course it Hass to taste good. I like everything about this restaurant. The surroundings were like the most Midwest Mexican restaurants. I mean the whole Mazatlan motif with the furniture and things like that. When you first sit down, as with most Mexican restaurants, they'll drop some chips and salsa on the table . I was pleasantly surprised to see they dropped. Frijole is on the table as well. I proceeded to order a corona and some queso and guacamole . I'm ready to start eating my chips and relax with a beer. I really don't try to rush in gorge myself and leave, because I travel so much I use this more of a relaxation time. I had the Combo #4. Chile Relleno, Taco, Burrito and Guacamole Tostada with Rice and Beans ($14). Every part of the meal was good. I mean it is what it is for most Mexican restaurants in the Midwest. This one stood out more than the rest. It's closer to a Jalisco Mexican, which you would find in Texas, Arizona or California. I would rate this one higher than most that you will find in the Midwest. I mean it's really damn good. Ordered 4/28/21 at 8:30 PM for takeout for two. Staff was nice but order was not correct. Ordered a fajita salad and got a taco salad and with that the carne asada was overcooked, no flavor, hard to chew, at least the requested side topics were there. The actually ordered taco salad with shredded chicken came out decent. The to-go drink was 3/4 ice and not nearly strong enough, especially since I paid for the top shelf. Our favorite Mexican restaurant wasn't open, so we gave Ole a try. The decor is festive and the seating was comfortable. Our terrific server Yasmine brought us chips and a bean dip, took our order and was so friendly and professional! I have been to five star restaurants in major cities that didn't have such fabulous service. In any case, the food arrived and unfortunately it wasn't nearly as wonderful as our server. Husband had enchilada and tamale he was underwhelmed with both. Son had fish tacos, he too was not thrilled. I had chicken chimichanga. It was just ok- very similar to the Mexican chain restaurants back east. I also experienced stomach issues all day and night. I read some of the ignorant reviews here on yelp that Nebraska doesn't have decent Mexican food- that's utter nonsense... I have had the best Mexican food here in Scottsbluff. There's a very large Mexican community in this city. It's astonishing people could stay a few nights somewhere and make assumptions before exploring the area. I've traveled extensively, my grandson is half Mexican and I've been privileged to enjoy home cooked Mexican meals. Ole is a nice place, but it's not the real deal. read more

Decent Mexican restaurant. We stopped in here during a recent trip to western Nebraska just after the COVID lockdowns ended. The decor is much as you'd expect for a Mexican restaurant- very colorful, festive, and energetic. Menu is huge with plenty of choices for everyone. I ended up going with the chicken fajitas- which while not the supersized portions I've seen at other similar restaurants, were plenty of food. The drink selection was good and the service attentive. The only thing I didn't like about the place was that we were seated in the corner by the window, and just after our drinks were delivered, a bug flew in, so they had to re-make our drinks. Our server said it was a pretty common appearance for the tables near the windows. read more

Drinks are great! Food was not, the server never check on us, we never received our tortillas for anyone. The food was definitely left under the heat lamp too long rice was hard, do NOT order the stuff shrimp it was horrible and a greasy mess due to how much cheese they use it was gross and unappetizing. This is one of the finest Mexican restaurants I've been to. Decor was pleasant. Even when busy, which it was, the crowd noise was subdued. Had the Stuffed Shrimp which was excellent, served with beans & rice, lettuce, tomato, avocado. Green Chile sauce for dipping was especially yummy. House Margarita was one of the best I've had. I had tacos. I like the fact they cook the shell fresh. I wish they had more lettuce and some tomato. My daughter had the enchiladas. They were good. Our waitress kept looking at me weird. Not sure why. When she brought our food out she laid the ticket on the table without asking if we were going to want desert. When I ordered the deserts she yanked the ticket back up. Like ok. Can't say enough good about this place. I'm 50ish, been around, and this is my favorite Mexican restaurant ever, anywhere. To be fair, I'm a Tex-Mex fan, not authentic. I've had food, service and ambience as good, but never all at one place and so consistent. Always busy but never wait to be seated. Always smiling and happy staff. Reasonably priced, good portions, good drinks, clean, cool place. I'm fairly new here, It has become a Friday evening ritual for my wife and I. We share an entree and it's plenty. I ordered chicken enchiladas - hot!! I was sweating and my nose was running but it was totally worth it! Such a good flavor. The chicken was moist and had great flavor. There was a ton of cheese which is always a plus!! Wife ordered enchiladas and a taco. Taco was grilled to make it crunchy but still soft and chewy. She loved it. They catered well to the kids and the server was awesome. We ended the meal with a sopapilla and it was awesome!!! So light and funny. But still soft and not super crunchy. Used a local honey which is huge bonus points. Wife ordered a strawberry burro (picture). Basically a strawberry filled burrito with ice cream!! Can I say awesome one more time?!? So, I figured that I would order something safe, something not hard to mess up. Cheese enchiladas...... looked like it was going to be good when it got sat down in front of me. There was absolutely no taste. The sauce had no taste. The cheese had no taste. I guess it's kind of expected to go to a Mexican restaurant in the mid west. First time in Scottsbluff and had to stop by a Mexican restaurant. I ordered the number 3 which consisted of 2 bean enchiladas and 1 beef taco. I did enjoy the chips and bean dip as an appetizer. The enchiladas were the perfect size with plenty of cheese to meet ratio. The taco was the perfect crunchiness. The service was great and the atmosphere was very relaxing. There seems to be a disconnect between the staff and the kitchen. My order has been wrong on two separate occasions and the table service was extremely poor. They get two stars for their exceptional service. She was kind, helpful, and prompt. My water stayed full and I never had to go looking for the necessities. The food was decent and would have been only three star worthy had I not ended up with horrible bubble guts for the rest of the night and next morning. It was not pleasant the second time around. Tne restaurant was a block away from our hotel so we thought we'd give it a try!!!! It was packed table to table with happy prople!! I am surprised to see that this place doesn't have better reviews. It consistently has really good food at good prices. We went in today for early dinner and were seated immediately. We ordered the shredded beef nachos and the chicken fajitas and they both came out at the same time, which was kind of annoying, but oh well. The service is fast! The nachos had SO much beef on them, which was surprising because they are fairly cheap for only $6. We had meat left over and were able to make two tacos out of it with tortillas from our fajitas. The fajitas were okay, nothing too special but overall, Ole is a great spot to visit when you're craving Mexican food. Ps. They bring out a bean dip along with two different salsas with your chips before you order and it is always exciting to have some variety and try something new. read more

I had the Taco Ole...it was amazing! The taco fills the inside of a 10" plate and comes with a huge mound of meat, cheese, lettuce and tomato. You can add or subtract anything you want though. The shell is more like a lightly fried Flat Bread and it's great! A must try. read more
