Terrific wedding venue! In the summer the sunset is just gorgeous and the lawn is well-manicured and well-equipped for ceremony throughput. The Spanish-style steps are really neat and the view that overlooks the beach is something else. Bear in mind there are noise ordinances in place that are pretty darn strict: the processional music is going to be quiet, and the wrap time is 10 PM (if not a little before) to ensure that the neighbors don't complain. The inside area where the dancing is can get pretty hot and steamy and the ordinance forbids having the doors open to air the place out. But the view/grandeur of the space to cost ratio is pretty unbeatable, just hope that there aren't any trains passing by during important parts of the ceremony! Ole Hanson Beach Club has been a staple to San Clemente since I can remember. I used to take swimming lessons there as a kid, and now my friend's kids too. They offer some awesome classes to the community, as well as a kids club in the summer, swim lessons and can be rented for various events, like weddings. This has always been the spot for high schoolers to take prom pictures too! The building itself is beautiful and the surrounding views are amazing. There's a ramp that leads down to north beach and the train station. Also, there is a walking trail right at the beach too. There's also some great restaurants nearby, like Moulin, Beach Hut Deli and a new Steak restaurant. Just note that all parking is metered and you will get a ticket if you don't pay. My husband and I just had our dream wedding here on 8/25/24! The views are breathtaking from the ceremony lawn and the outdoor reception/cocktail areas! Our guests had the best time and were blown away with the setting. We were specifically looking for an ocean front venue, but not on the sand, so this venue was absolutely perfect. The beach was actually crowded that day but had no idea since you could only see the ocean. The Amtrak was not an issue and actually rang after we were pronounced husband and wife, like wedding bells! The 24 Carrots catering company & N-Effect DJs we were contracted to use were amazing and made planning easier. We loved the entire process with the Ole Hanson team. I never imagined I'd have to write a review like this, but after our terrible experience, I feel a responsibility to warn other couples. This venue has so much potential, but it is being completely mismanaged by 24 Carrots, and more specifically, by Amanda, the venue manager, who was frankly horrible at her job. The venue itself is beautiful, but it's being completely wasted under the current management. 24 Carrots has no business running events here, and Amanda's lack of leadership only makes things worse. I truly hope the venue owners reconsider who they allow to manage this space because no one should have to go through what we did. Until there's a full overhaul of the management, I'd strongly advise looking elsewhere. read more

TLDR: We got married at Ole Hanson just over a month ago and LOVED it. Great Spanish-style venue (outdoor ceremony/reception), great ocean/beach view, great staff, great food. Pros: - Food/drinks: This was one of our most important things in choosing a venue. Our tasting experience was awesome and so much fun. We were worried about having to use a caterer that was required by the venue, but 24 Carrots food is amazing (had been to a wedding at another venue). On the day of the wedding, our guests were raving about the appetizers and the food. The staff was helpful in catering to our guests who had special dietary needs, or explaining the ingredients of the entrees. As far as drinks went, I made sure our guests were utilizing the open bar =) and from what I've been told, all of the bartenders were generous. - Location: Beautiful location right on the water. There are so many photo spots including the stairs, deck, and lawn with tall palm trees. It was quintessential California with the sunsets at dinner. A little far from home but like a mini destination wedding for guests! - Overall, another reason why we went with Ole Hanson was because it included a lot things like rentals and security (as of booking in 2021), so there was good value. The cost per person for food was really reasonable given the compliments we received. - 24 Carrots made it easy to add a lounge and lighting to the East deck with Sundrop Vintage (highly recommend and worth the cost to us because our guests could spread out more). The rental contract was added to our main contract. - Parking is easy to coordinate but had gone up in price in the public lot, which is owned by the City of San Clemente. Cons: - We booked the lawn for the cocktail hour. It wasn't until after we signed the contract and placed our deposit, that we were informed the east deck wouldn't also be available during cocktail hour since we were already using the lawn. It would have been nice to use that space as well because we had a lounge and photo booth there. All in all, this actually made for a better cocktail experience by keeping our guests together. We just wish the communication was a little clearer and more upfront at the time of signing. Also, glass is not allowed on the lawn (we were about to upgrade to this, but didn't make sense if our guests weren't going to be able to use it on the lawn). - During our ceremony, the Amtrak passed through twice. You could hear the bells for a few minutes each time. This isn't a knock on the venue, but just be aware it can happen during your ceremony too. - There aren't many private or hidden photo areas, so when we were taking our photos before the ceremony, our guests were able to see us. We didn't mind this, but just something to keep in mind. Finally, we want to give a special shout out to Nasime and Amanda from 24 Carrots who worked closely with us to make Ole Hanson an amazing venue for our wedding. They were extremely responsive, friendly, and professional. It was a real joy to work with them! read more

Amazing! As it says in the overview - this venue has a pool on the north side (relatively hidden if you're here for a wedding). The pool is closed Saturday afternoon/evening and all day Sunday so there's not cross over between events. As weddings go - this is an incredible venue. Location, coordination, catering staff, recommended vendors, all amazing. The lawn on the south side of the building is large enough to host a sizable wedding (up to 200+), with gorgeous views for photos. Upstairs there are two outdoor patios (east and west) separated by an indoor ball room for parties or reception. Any more than 140 guests is VERY tight if all seated on one balcony (we had 135). Two restrooms upstairs, additional downstairs in the shared lobby of the pool. Very clean venue, security for the entire event meant guests had privacy and no interruptions. Would highly recommend looking into hosting an event here. Given the location (proximity to train), there are some details that need to be planned around, but it's truly an amazing location and prices are reasonable/comparable to other venues. read more

During dinner, they had our plates made up for us so that we could avoid the buffet and eat first. Lastly, at the end of thing night they had 2 leftover plates made up for us to take home. At every step along the way, we felt reassured by the responsiveness and professionalism that we experienced with 24 Carrots. Things went to the next level when we went for our tasting. The entire experience had been customized for us - from the signs welcoming us once we walked through the front door, to the room where our tasting was held. This made us feel so special! And the food was SO GOOD! The tasting was easily one of our favorite parts of wedding planning. It was wonderful to work with Nasime throughout the planning process! She was responsive, on top of all of the details, and answered all of our many many questions (trust me, there were a lot) with patience and clarity. Amanda took such good care of us on our big day! She was professional, very clearly experienced, and a joy to interact with! We know there was a lot of work going on behind the scenes, but everything was smooth and seamless for us! The 24 Carrots team made sure that we (the bride and the groom) were well fed the entire evening from placing a plate of hors d'oeuvres and our drinks of choice in our bridal suite so we could eat & drink immediately after the ceremony, to placing another full plate of hors d'oeuvres on our sweetheart table so we'd have food immediately after our grand entrance, to bringing our dinner plates directly to us so we didn't have to go to the buffet, to sending us home with to-go boxes of food! Amanda checked in often to make sure we were doing well & that we had enough food. They also took care of our bridal party and had drinks waiting for them as they exited the ceremony. They even took care of my grandmother by bringing her dinner directly to her - talk about care & class! The entire day-of staff provided such wonderful customer service to us and our guests! We loved having our wedding at Ole Hanson Beach Club with 24 Carrots. I felt it was perfect for our guest count of ~100. The lawn for the ceremony is stunning. The reception area for dining was beautiful. For summer afternoon weddings, just be aware that there will be sunlight on your guests during the start of dinner, but the couple is generally well shielded from the sun. There are many lovely areas for photographs, especially if you like Spanish-style architecture and palm trees. The train didn't interfere with our wedding at all but that is something to consider if you pick this property. Given proximity to the beach, you can take beach photos on your wedding day as well if you would like. 24 carrots was amazing with top-notch food and service, and there's a full kitchen on site so you know the food will taste amazing and hot! They partner with N-effect DJs, and our DJ Nathin was amazing and was able to read the crowd well and match the music to fit the vibe of the crowd. I don't even think I can find the words to review to this venue and team, but here it goes... If I could give the 24 Carrots team, Sarah and Sydney, 1000 stars I would. My now husband and I booked the venue when it was under construction back in 2016. It was my first time personally working with 24 Carrots. Even though the venue was under construction, I could tell the bones of this structure were going to be perfect -- but the heart and the true selling point of this venue, was Sarah and Sydney. These girls both showed me why they are THE BEST not only caterer, but PEOPLE in the business. Both Sarah and Sydney were with me the ENTIRE wedding process; they were lightning fast at answering any email questions and phone calls from me and my family. Putting together a puzzle of a wedding is not easy to say the least, but if I didn't have Sarah or Sydney from Ole Hanson -- I would have been one hot mess. Let's fast forward to the most magical day of life: my wedding. I can't even describe how majestic this seaside jewel of San Clemente looked, felt, or evoked for me, my husband, and for all of our guests. The entire 24 Carrots team, down to the bartenders, servers, chefs, you name it -- were the most accommodating, kind, and selfless humans you could ever meet. I would have invited them to my wedding if they weren't already working it! The thing that truly sets them apart is their attention to detail. Our server noticed that we started meeting & greeting our guests, so she offered to bring our entree to us when we were ready to eat, so it would still be hot & we could enjoy it. I honestly didn't even THINK of that until she mentioned it, and thank goodness she did -- because as you usually hear, most couples forget to eat, which is so so so true! I also heard from all of my guests that the servers were so intuitive that during cocktail hour, they served our elderly guests first who couldn't walk up to the those offering tray-passed hors d'oeuvres. It is the little details like this that makes 24 Carrots stand out to me; being able to think of what their guests would need BEFORE anyone has to ask! All of our guests RAVED about the food quality and presentation. In my opinion, food is a #1 priority for guests. We didn't want anyone to have to drive thru In-n-Out on the way home after the wedding (admit it, you've all been there)... Our friends and family to this day continue to tell us how fulfilled and delicious every bit of food and drink was throughout the entire night. My husband and I are just so in love with our wedding day... I could go on and on for hours about how absolutely magical this venue is, but it truly is the people behind this oceanfront piece of heaven that make it come to life. My little guy loves taking swim lessons here! There is a shallow pool for kids lessons. It's a beautiful location right by the beach and the employees are friendly and kind. I want to start this with a disclaimer that, firstly, I'm not typically a 'yelper'. Rarely, in fact, but as a bride-to-be under stress I want to write this is hopes to help the company and any future brides searching for a dream venue! We ultimately did not choose this venue. BUT because everyone was SO polite and the place was really beautifully done, I still give 4-stars. Overall, hurting the business is NOT my intention here. We toured the Ole Hanson in September with Sydney after having toured a few other local spots. While we found the building itself to be pretty and have a nice view- we were pretty meh about the lack of personal touch to the appointment. It felt a little rushed but having a brief moment to walk thru the venue and speak in the bridal suite was helpful. Having been born and raised in Dana Point, my fiancé and I were eager to find a venue that represented that authentic beachy, laid back feel of OLD orange county before all the stupid TV shows and celebrity took over and we felt we might have found that in Ole Hanson. We decided we wanted to move forward with booking. Sadly, however, their quotes were the ultimate reason why we backed out. The online brochure states weekdays as being $3,000 for the venue and including chairs and tables and some coordination help. WHAT A STEAL! Especially for being oceanfront. But they really failed when it came to mentioning the 'service charge', nearly $500 charge to use their linens (no you can't supply your own- I asked) and their bar quotes were much higher than if you supplied your own. Also, the included tables and chairs were cheap plastic and to have nicer rentals was going to cost-big time. There was also no tasting on site- those were inland a ways and not something we could squeeze into this trip. So for out-of-state couples, you'll need to book that ahead and drive to it or go with fate that you'll hopefully like the food you choose. Which if you are required to use their catering, shouldn't a tasting come to you at the venue? In the end, the quote was easily $10,000 more than had been insinuated via their site and previous emails. I was bummed. I will say that Sarah was super understanding about this and tried to help as much as she could with budgeting for us. All this being said, if you have a true "OC" budget and no real interest in DIY anything, I am sure you'll have a gorgeous wedding day. The staff was really kind and as mentioned the location is great and super convenient for out of towners. But I can't seem to shake that feeling of being a little sad it didn't work out and feeling slightly jipped. Be sure to get a quote ASAP before investing too much time! We looked at 4 venues, two of which were run by 24 Carrots Catering. Both venues by 24K had staff that were informative, friendly, and creative with different ideas to help you envision your day. We ultimately decided on Ole Hanson because it would offer our guests, which were majority east coasters, a great opportunity for a California beach vacation. What more could you ask for than getting married with the beach as your backdrop, brunching rooftop near the beach, dancing inside with beautiful wood details? This venue makes it EASY if you want to keep it simple. It offers so many details already that there's no need to splurge on additional decor and details. The best part is they make it so simple to connect with the best vendors. Communication is always on point and quick. read more

I never thought of it until just now, but I could see myself getting married here - it would make perfect sense! I always drive by OHBC when I'm in beautiful San Clemente, because it is an iconic building with a spectacular view of the uncrowded coastline, though I haven't been inside in years. OHBC is breathtaking historic icon in a town that I have seen change drastically since the 1980's (i grew up here) while other precious features (like the nearby Theatre) have been neglected and forgotten. Ole Hanson Beach Club is a rare gem that will soon be amongst cat litter (aka new outlet malls coming across the street). When I was 8 years old, I took my first Hatha yoga class here with my Mom. This was the beginning of my lifelong yoga journey with yoga and now I'm a certified yoga instructor. I remember looking up at the vastness of the dark wood domed ceiling and admiring the gloss of the blue and white and orange tiles up the stairs and around the complex. I took swimming lessons here when I was still "scared of the deep end" and puked for the first time after I drank too much pool water. In high school it's cul-de-sac overlooking the ocean became my "inspiration point" for every major life milestone that needed pondering. My dear heart, my Grandpa, swam here everyday for 20 years. He told me a couple years ago that the pool was closing and OHBC was being renovated. He started swimming at the new pool center near Talega, which is a stunning creation in itself, yet doesn't hold a candle to the charm and grace of OHBC. I'm clearly biased and emotionally attached to this lovely establishment. But, I encourage you to go and see it for yourself so you too can be moved by its legacy and by all of the collective memories that it holds for us. read more

I wanted to get married here until we encountered the event manager of the venue. She was not welcoming at all and was pretty fake upon greeting us. Don't treat someone poorly who could possibly spend $30k on a wedding. Shame. read more

My husband and I selected Ole Hanson Beach Club as our ceremony and reception venue, site unseen. Let me start by saying, the pictures you'll find on social media and through the vendor are not just photography magic. The view from the courtyard is absolutely beautiful at ANY time of day, although I am quite partial to the view we had just before and after sunset. The venue was clean inside and out, and the lawn and landscaping were very well maintained. The stairway and rooftop are just as beautiful in person as they are in pictures. Working with Ole Hanson and 24 Carrots was a delight, and I could not be happier. My wedding day felt like a fairytale and I have a million beautiful pictures to prove it. read more

We had been emailing one of the coordinators for over a week and provided her w/ the date (not a date range) for our wedding. She stated it was available. We set the date/time for tour and continued to email daily, including 4 hours prior to the appointment time. Once we arrive, we're told "oh, oops, that date just booked recently." I asked "what is recently?" "4 days ago...so between the time it was booked 4 days ago and the email you sent 4 hours before the appointment confirming it, no one thought to let us know that the date was booked?! But instead of owning the mistake and saying sorry, to have wasted your time during rush hour traffic, you want to explain how you don't "hold" dates, or double check dates...and as if the poor in person customer service wasn't enough in person, you felt the need to "personally apologize" over email, you should have "personally apologized" to my face when you were telling me all the excuses as to why you failed to check the date. So, maybe you should add "double check a date" to your customer service training and apologize at the time the mistake happens...oh and show some consideration for other people's time! read more
