This place used to be good, but it is only disappointing. I have boycotted eating there because of some remarks said to my fiancé who has a shellfish allergy, the food quality is very mid, the prices are ridiculous, and the service is either good or very bad depending on who you get to serve you. My fiancé wanted to order his favorite Jose special. He politely told them that he has a shellfish allergy, so his food should probably not be cooked on the same area of the griddle as the shrimp. The manager proceeded to come out and say, "we cannot do that. I do not recommend you eating anything cooked on the griddle." My fiancé and I were shocked because he had never been denied that before. He was forced to get something that could be cooked in the Wood Brick oven. I then proceeded to ask the manager because I was baffled, "Do you not clean the griddle or are you unable to?" She proceeded to state, "No, they do not understand the concept of allergies." (pointing to her Hispanic workers). I was revolted by her comment, the service, and just how unprofessional she was. Such a cute, authentic place! We came in after having been riding all morning. The staff were incredibly accommodating and moved tables outside for us. we gave this place a try, not much around here to eat. i noticed the chips were cold and stale. then i was overwhelmed with what to order, having anything from pizza, burgers or mexician. since i was at a mexician restaurant, i ordered mexician. basic 3 item meal. taco was edible.. rice and beans sucked. chicken tamale was horrible, and chili releno was awful. i sent it back, was polite but just was like it wasn't good.. i got a sub to replace it. it seemed edible, but by then i was grossed out.. it didn't deserve the one star i gave it. can i give negative stars?? read more

This location gets 1 star due to cultural barriers and integrity. Pulling into this location is convenient and very quiet. Ambience is honestly a plus for this location. What I immediately noticed after getting out of the car was the music selection. This Mexican restaurant makes Mexican food and plays country music. I thought maybe it is a mixed playlist and at some point Mexican music will be played. NOT AT ALL. All of the cooks are Mexican and the servers are white. The customers at this location happen to all be white. Maybe that would explain the consistent play on country music. No one ever went to BB Kings restaurant and was forced to listen to heavy metal. Mexican food should always accompany Mexican music. That is the culture. Attitudes at this location are dry and shallow. Non of the employees seem to be happy. I almost felt bad for the employees. Makes you wonder are they being paid fairly or are they being treated good. Overall, the food is not authentic Mexican food. It was a culture shock they did not have salsa! No green or red salsa!?! I've been in and out pf town for 7 years and grew up in the town where Ole Jose is for about 4 years prior to that. So, I feel like I have a pretty fair take on the place. Ole Jose as it stands now, exudes peak "I don't give a shit" energy. There are people there and who have been there in the past who are exceptions (Carlos and Edwin), but most of the people there exude that energy to such a degree, that you know exactly how your experience will be as soon as you walk through the door. For dining or for lunch, I would pass up on Ole Jose. You're much better off going to long standing, local Pinnacle Drive-In, Monday-Saturday. For having a few beers and some chips, sure, Ole's will suffice. As a matter of fact, I'd recommend Ole's for anyone wants to have some drinks in town. That may or may not be because there's no where else to go, but I'd recommend it nonetheless. My suggestions as someone who know's nothing about restaurant management: 1. Start doing very simple breakfast options for people on their way to work. Have 3-4 varieties of breakfast burritos. Reconstruct the drive-thru curbs (they make zero sense anyway) to allow multiple cars to line-up, ask for whichever burrito that's premade, pay and take burrito on their way. This seems like a huge missed opportunity 2. Stop cheaping out on weird stuff like chips and salsa. 3. Encourage your staff to use a few brain cells. I had an experience recently where I asked if I could add two fried eggs to a meal, and that blew minds. 4. Give a hoot. read more

The food was good. Inside restaurant was nice. We were surprised the food was as good as it was. However, the staff is downright creepy. The table across from us started sharing stories that were similar. The staff made them so uncomfortable they ended up not eating their food. We told them a friend swore he saw them put something in our chips behind the bar and he wouldn't eat the chips and salsa. One waitress yelled at a guy because he left his table and went outside to talk to his friends on the patio. Other people were telling us how the waitress was real nice while trying to get them interested in rental houses they have then a few minutes later went "ghetto" on them. We had just finished our third day of riding the HM trails and were in need of some serious food and drink. Ole Jose had been mentioned on a Facebook group so we rolled the dice and parked the truck and trailer across the street. The idea of a Mexican restaurant and pizza place in southern WV was a stretch of the imagination but the other options in town were already jammed up with crowds and this place had beer and drinks. The decor is nothing special or remarkable. We both found it to be very clean and the entire staff was friendly and attentive. We sat on the deck on the second floor and it was really nice. Watching ATV's and UTV's parading through town made the wait more than worth it. Their menu is impressive. They have everything you could ask for and then some. We both had steak meals and the steaks were sub par, hence the 4 star review. We both ordered ours medium and they were well done. If we find our way back here we would definitely come back. read more

There are alot of little mexican places around WV, and they all have one thing in common: good food for a good price. This place does that and much more. First of all, the decor and multi-floor layout are gorgeous and comfortable. Very classy upstairs bar area with what looks like a brand new patio. Food is great mexican, but I've also had a great burger there and the pizzas I hear are excellent. Beer and mixed drinks are served liberally. This is a true gem of a spot if you're a Wyoming County local and don't want to huff it to Beckley; hell I'd even say its a nice change of scenery if you want to drive down to Pineville one evening or on the weekend. UPDATE: I've since had the meatball sandwich and two wood-fired pies. The pizzas are in the same league as Pies and Pints. There's really nothing more that needs said about that. The meatball sub is YUGE and you'll have to take half home, but lemme tell you you'll be looking forward to that second half. read more

It could have something to do with the owners and the staff having no background in Mexican cuisine, just putting that out there. You would be better off going to Haciendas in Logan or over to Beckley, a bit of a drive either way but worth the trip if you're in the mood for Mexican food that tastes good. Ordered a take out order consisting of the chicken fajita salad, caprese salad, and an order of spicy wood grilled wings. The fajita salad was excellent. The caprese salad was alright. Portion size was good but made up of thinner slices of mozzarella and tomatoes and the balsamic was a little weak. Would have preferred thicker slices and more balsamic flavor. The wood grilled wings we inedible. They used a breaded frozen wing and stick it in the wood fired oven. The breeding was soggy and the wings were terrible. Also tried the apple soda in the refrigerator by the register. Did not have much of an apple flavor. Overall, the Mexican food was good and we would order that again. read more
