Don't get me wrong, she is a great dentist: passionate about patient care, extremely meticulous, and highly intelligent; and while I use her for all my dental needs, it is her treatment of my sleep apnea that motivates me to make the two hour round trip from Philadelphia for my care. If you are interested in more details, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea in my late twenties and had been on the CPAP machine for years. My pulmonologist recommended a person - I won't mention his name but he dedicates his entire CENTRAL JERSEY practice to DENTAL SLEEP MEDICINE. My experience was awful: the mouth guard he created didn't fit property, it was painful to wear, and didn't treat my symptoms. After weeks of getting nowhere with him I threw it in the garbage and went back on the CPAP. A few years later I started seeing Dr. Ahuja for general dental work and mentioned this experience. She really wanted me to give a dental appliance another try but I had no interest; however after some prodding and offering to only charge for the lab fees I gave it another go. The first thing I noticed is Dr. Ahuja mixed her plaster by hand instead of using the pre-made stuff. Secondly, she carefully examines the mold and if it is not to her standard she will redo it (she did my top teeth twice to get a perfect impression). One week later I got the mouth guard and it fit absolutely perfectly. Ever since that day I have been off the CPAP. In attempt to give a complete and honest review, I will mention one potential negative. Unlike the so called expert I initially visited, Dr. Ahuja only handles dental insurance, not medical. Therefore if you are trying to get the appliance covered by insurance, you would have to attempt that on your own. That being said, her prices are extremely reasonable; and considering the product she produces, worth every single penny. If you have sleep apnea and are a candidate for an oral appliance for treatment, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you consult with Dr. Ahuja.

Instead, she took Intraoral-periapical images of the tooth at the tune of $49 each. Plus, she charged me $216 for the exam, claiming that it was an emergency visit and that I needed a root canal right away. $311 total. The endodontist she sent me to reassured me that I DID NOT need a root canal since there was no sign of infection and the nerve was OK. Then I went to a "real" dentist and found out I just needed a simple cleaning which only cost me $178 including the exam. RECOMMENDATION: AVOID THIS CHARLATAN.

She made me feel comfortable and did everything she could to make my cleaning as painless as possible, which she included using a numbing cream on my gums, which helped a lot. She's very knowledgeable, asked questions, and recommended different things to try to keep my gums in good health. Her office staff is extremely nice too. I spoke to Natasha on the phone and then met her today. She's very sweet. The young woman who did my x-rays was great too--nice and friendly and was fast so I didn't have to sit long with the plastic things in my mouth. This all made such a difference in my dental experience, which I always dread. The office is cheerful and decorated for the holidays. The parking was right next to the office in a private lot. Back then she was compassionate. On time. Complimentary. She even went so far as to verbally reprimand a hygienist (who is no longer there) who repeatedly asked me if my mother got mammograms after I told her that my mother had died from breast cancer. My dad moved to the area recently and I recommended Dr Kachur to him for a dentist. His experiences were nothing but negative. She arrived late multiple times and seemed very focused on herself during conversations. This was not the doctor I knew and I couldn't believe he was having these experiences. I was a little wary when she told me last spring that she thought I was a heavy grinder and needed a mouth guard right away. This was the first time in 8 years she mentioned something. Then was a little put off when I couldn't afford to dish out the $500 to cover the cost my insurance won't pay. First red flag. Fast forward to my last appointment with her in December 2015. I went for a cleaning and to fix a filling that had chipped for the second time. Dr. Kachur showed me the colors she had shown my dad. Very abrasive emotionally and rough shoving a film in between my teeth. When I started to cry she got all defensive and walked out. Jackie one of the hygienists comforted me. I took the blame when Dr Kachur came in and said I was extra emotional due to fertility drugs I was taking at the time. I always take the blame especially in situations where I don't want to create a scene. Dr. Kachur proceeded to tell me that she had to tell her doctor years ago that her hormonal meds she took years ago made her super emotional and therefore she wanted to stop. I took this as her implication that she thought I should do the same. You don't imply that to anyone much less a woman who struggles with infertility! She also never said sorry for being abrasive with me and asked me why I was crying because she "didn't say or do anything wrong." Later that day I decided to walk away for good from this practice. I wish that all the recognition that she has gotten didn't change her personality. Because long ago she was a kind doctor. It's a sad shame. I must say that Jackie, Louise, Lily and the other people I have encountered have been nothing but kind. But the way I was treated the last time by a doctor was the deciding factor for me to leave.
