**Overpriced and Condescending - Go Elsewhere!** I've unfortunately had to deal with this shop a few times, and each visit has been a reminder of why I should never come back. The worst offender here is Shannon, who speaks to customers like they're beneath him. When I tried to return my old car battery after buying a new one from them just weeks ago, he flat-out refused, claiming there was "no way" to do it. Funny, because any other shop could process the return with a simple card transaction. It's pure laziness and an excuse to dodge basic customer service. And if that wasn't enough, another time, they installed new tires on my car and completely screwed up the TPMS. My car's system got all mixed up, and instead of owning up to their mistake, they told *me* to have my mechanic fix it--when *they* were the ones who just messed it up! Talk about passing the buck. Oh, and let's talk prices--ridiculous! They charge way more than necessary for parts that you could get cheaper *literally anywhere else.* If you like overpaying while being talked down to, this is the place for you. True story. The Manager Cody once replaced 4 tires on a vehicle with staggered wheels and managed to install the small tires on the left side and larger on the right side. The customer nearly had an accident. Way to go Cody!! You are on your way!!! read more

I am so glad to be back in Tampa, and Olin Mott is a major reason. When I was living in Atlanta, I never really trusted a mechanic. I've been a customer of Mr. Mott's local chain for over ten years, and I've followed manager Kevin Dufault from the Temple Terrace store to this flagship location. While waiting in the lobby (which now has free wifi), I've overheard many conversations with customers, and I've always been impressed by the candor of the employees. I've heard them say "You're right, we screwed this up and we'll take care of it, and I want to apologize to you." I've heard them say "The reason I don't think that's causing your symptoms is that..." followed by a five-minute lesson on what's under the hood. The most impressive thing I've heard Kevin say -- and it was to me -- was: "There's nothing wrong with your car. You don't have to be worried about that noise. Bring it back to me when there's something to fix. No charge." Why do I drive straight past the cheap oil change places on my way down to Olin Mott? Because I know that if they advise me to get something fixed, it's legit -- and I know that if I ask them how optional it is or how long I can afford to wait, they will tell me God's honest truth. I brought my jeep for various repairs. Ended up needing 4 new tires. Price was about average. But when they disassembled my hub caps they put all 4 back on with out the center piece. Rather than correcting the mistake or figuring out how to do it the right way they gave my boyfriend the rest of the parts in a bag and basically left it up to us to figure out how to assemble them correctly. Like you took parts of my car off and then couldn't figure out how to reassemble. Definitely doesn't leave much confidence in the repairs made. Also my car is still shaking during acceleration which was the main issue we wanted diagnosed. Definitely will not recommend or return. read more

Offer free Coffee. This staff is by and far, Very professional, knowledgeable, and caring. I have been coming to this location since 1990. They always give me my options as well. Went into this location this past Saturday. Not only do the technician's smoke during the repair process (oil change included) but they also lack simple technical skills. The tech in change of my oil change and tire rotation managed to snap my dip stick into my vehicle. Management first attempted to lie about it (telling me is was already broken), then proceeded to tell me that I would have to bring my car back for a half-day repair. No concessions were made and no apology was given. They were all very blasé about the situation and told me I would have to wait until the week when the mechanic was in. Not confident that their mechanic would be able to complete the repairs without causing further damage (i.e. perpetual oil leak from shoddy work), I've decided to go elsewhere for repairs. So, I had a flat tire last Friday night at work. Upon review of my tires, it was apparent that I needed for of them (they were bald). On Saturday morning I did a quick search of tire stores near Seminole Heights and decided to give Olin Mott a try. They were fair on the price, quick, and they let me know that they have a free mount and balance policy for the life of the tires. Can't get much better than that...I will return! read more

Traveling through Tampa during this weekends tropical storm and realized I had a flat tire. Once pulling into Olin Mott tires I was greeted outside. Spoke to Alex which was incredible to work with (super relieved as I am a single female stranded in a town I know nothing about!) Alex informed me they may not be able to squeeze me in but once upon inflating my tire up said he would do his best. Upon going inside to fill out paperwork there was a bit of a line and Alex asked for help from Dusty. That's when things took a bad turn. When Dusty finally came in rudely he asked what was going on. As I was telling him what needed to be done and how accommodating Alex was Dusty only wanted to interrupt me every three words saying, "We can't do that today and we close at 12:30, I am leaving at 12:30!" After noticing both of our frustrations I requested to wait and work with Alex, that's when Dusty shouted, "I don't know why, I AM THE MANAGER!" I then suggested for him to work on his customer service skills since the place was packed inside. Dusty then looked at Alex who was helping another customer at the time and said, "I refuse to work with her get her out of here." Luckily, there's a Tires Plus right down the road and they were amazing! I do hope Alex gets the recognition he deserves! real simple, they were supposed to evaluate my tire for repair or do a replacement and then rotate all the tires and they didn't, they lied about rotating, I caught them because the "new tire" which I shouldn't have had to buy was on where i had the flat, As well they said the flat tire was penetrated in the side wall, which I knew from filling it a dozen times the day before, it had a puncture in the tread ,( I was trying to plug it to no avail) and held air when I blocked the hole. No penetration in the side wall which would had been obvious if filled with air because it would have been LEAKING. hello.... I bought the original tires there last year, that's why I had it towed there. I thought I could trust their service, but after catching them in such a lie... I mean how simple is it to say I don't know if they were rotated let me check? If they lie about something so easily verifiable and simple, the choice is clear. And then there's the receptionist, in spite of being there two times before and them having my CC information on file made me feel like a criminal , insisting on making a copy of my license and calling me "darlin" a dozen or so times.Wouldn't give me my keys ( I do have spares you know) As if I wasn't trustworthy. "really? You have my CC information right there in front of your face from a year ago, and it's still the same and another right there" and you say you need to 'photocopy my license until payment is cleared? then you throw it away? really? and a tip, buy a new computer and printer, get something from this century that will allow you to be a little more expeditious in processing receipt and payments.Then people won't have to suffer through multiple sweeties and darlins while waiting what seems like forever, while you do everything but get me out the door. Kudos to Rick McKensie (sp?) who tried to right the situation the next day, after The one who lied to me couldn't or wouldn't. After speaking with him the next day and calling him out, He said he " thought they did, he didn't know". too difficult to check, I get it, I mean you'd have to take physical steps and use your vocal chords to form words to ask questions, very tiring ( no pun intended) I understand. Figure it out. he (rick) did offer to let me bring it i to have the tires rotated, but really, you think I'll go back there after dealing with someone who blatantly chose to lie about something as simple as a tire rotation? LOL, no thank you, but I will take you up on it and go to another store and have it done. I've already paid obviously,now I just need to set aside time out of my schedule for your company to make up work they should have done in the first place. If your employees had done what was supposed to be done in the first place, we wouldn't be having this conversation. And I wouldn't have to be wasting my time for their intentional screw ups. I am the fleet supervisor for a large corporation in Tampa and I was confronted by a very aggressive manager months ago in hopes that he would attain our business. I liked him right away, but it took several months to get this approved and we were astounded to know that were finally taking all of our cars to a reputable garage. I called last week to confirm the appointment of two cars for 4 tires each and it was found out that the manager that we liked was fired. The new manager, Dusty gave me information that was unsettling. He stated the previous manager was fired and said a few unkind words about him. Right away I was misguided. I decided to try this new manager out and he disappointed me to no end. We showed up this morning at 7am as promised, and he didnt show up. The doors were still closed at 7:25, so we left. This is not a way to run a business when you are supposed to be open at 7. I called the 237-3945 location to find out what was going on, and the excuses I got reminded me of the same ones my kid would give when we didnt want to go to school.
