This is the worst agency you could come across! DO NOT license through this agency! They are super…read morehelpful in the beginning! And they all seem VERY kind. But they will turn on you the moment you realize you don't have to take the constant threats and passive aggressive statements from their team. Karina was amazing! But she is gone! The rest of them can be quite disrespectful and even downright nasty! They often forget that YOU ARE THE RESOURCE!!! And treat you as if you are the one who needs constant monitoring. My child's former worker NEVER spent any time with him! All she did was talk to me like I was the one who had been assigned a worker and not him! She'd call or text at all hours of the day and night- especially while she knew I was at church on Sundays- and then sound the alarm if she didn't hear back right away! If you text a person at 11:30pm, you shouldn't expect a response until the next day! Let me also say, I've had my fs in my home for almost a year and his CSW has complete confidence and trust in me and my home. His supervisor has even come out to confirm that. I have been a caseworker in a foster care and adoption agency, and the way they run things at this one is HORRIBLE! It's starts out great- but only as long as you are letting them take advantage of you. When I did this job, we actually supported the RESOURCE families. We were there when and how they needed us to be. We recognized that they are the SOLUTION and not the problem! I see most of the reviewers posted during their training period. At that time I felt the same way. It wasn't until after placement that they became disrespectful, unsupportive and flat out horrible to me. My precious boy and I have since transferred to a new agency and we are much happier for it. Don't be fooled. This place is not a good agency for the kids or the resource families. I will not call out anyone who is still with them, but I am NOT the only one with this experience. There are so many horror stories, but people are afraid to speak up for fear of losing their precious little ones!

I ended up adopting 2 kids through Alpha who are now my own through their foster/adopt program. Through the program of fostering to adopt, it can be expected (from the county) to have a change over of different social workers which can be a bit frustrating, especially when I had to deal with biological parents who were always wanting quarrel instead of doing what the judge had ajudicated them to do. The one consistent quality that I was able to rely on was the familiar faces of Alpha and their hand holding through the entire process. After the long process of fostering to adopt, this family ran business continued to treat me as their extended family and supported us through the programs, holiday functions and needed paperwork to nurture the cohesive family unit we are today. I have nothing but the utmost appreciation for this agency. Good experience.

Rather than being a source of support, there are a source of stress. They would ask you to meet them for an appointment, and when you told them that you couldn't be there at that time they told you that you had to and when you complied, they'd nicely say thanks for being flexible. After giving you no choice. When children had extreme and dangerous behaviors, they would either tell us that we needed to figure it out to call the police, or to simply allow the child to do what they were doing.Even if it was unsafe. We would have a young child run out of the house and run through the neighborhood even into the evening. Several times in one day, we'd repeatedly called for help, but all they would tell us to do was repeatedly call the police. When night fell and this young girl kept running out of the house and it was time to go to bed and we couldn't chase her all night. We ultimately called the county to do an emergency removal.Because I was the only safe thing we could figure out to do. Because of that, they pretty much barred us from working with them, which ultimately worked out great for us. I hope things have changed for the better and they may have, because they have a very high turnover rate. They need more experienced and better paid staff. I wouldn't recommend anyone work with this agency. As a foster, parent or as a member of their staff. They should sometimes even beast deceptive. When having difficulty finding a placement for a sibling set of two children, they lowered their level of care and compensation to make their behaviors and history seem less severe. I could go on, but this is a review not a novel.

(I do understand and respect prioritizing the mental health of the cats, but I'm sure the cats, especially the adults, would prefer a compromise, like being required to fill out a one page form on the spot before meeting). Every serious adopter that goes into a pet store and sees one of this organization's animals that they are interested in adopting and is told they have to go through this and this and this step before they can even interact with the cat and know if the personality is a fit. Everyone loses out. In my experience, even if you do go through all the steps, they won't call you back, and a cat that could have had a home I know had that opportunity taken from them because of the seemingly righteous or superior attitude of the rescue people. They surely know how many people go in and out of those cat and kitten rooms at the Animal Friends of the Valley shelter. Having a few people go in one at a time to meet one particular cat, I don't feel, is any more dangerous or unhealthy for the cat than them losing the opportunity to be adopted and eventually being put down. I just don't understand rescues like this. If you're too small to actually help, then let somebody else do it.

Mindy provided a very personable, warm and extremely responsive service, made every effort to respond to my inquiry on Adopt-A-Pet and approving my application as well as just answering my questions and chatting with me about my potential cat baby's personality traits and his background story. She responded to emails as late as 11PM on a weekend and her demeanor was always welcoming and reassuring, like an old, caring friend. Mindy's words and actions convey that she truly truly love all of her rescued cat babies and she only wants what's best for them and she works extremely hard to find them good homes. I was very sad that neither cat babies from her rescue matched the particular personality I was looking for (I was trying to fill this big hole in my heart with the tragic loss of a stray cat named Cookie I cared for) and I really wished that given all the hard work she and her daughter put into, I'd adopt either Teddy or Khabib. Despite these big, affectionate sweet boys were not the best match I was searching for, I don't think any less of them, I sincerely hope they will find their forever home they deserve and I cannot be more grateful for Mindy's time, patience and understanding she's extended me and my family. If I had more capacity for an additional cat baby in the future after finding THE ONE, Mindy and her rescue is the first place I'd check out. If you are also searching for your feline soulmate, please look no further!!
