During the lavender season, the tickets are a bit pricey alongside parking. The farm itself has numerous activities to do, picturesque moments, and different foods to try. My fiancé and I have attended the lavender festival three times already, so we knew what to expect. We avoided the foods we didn't enjoy last time, and tried new items. We ordered their carne asada tacos, croissant beignets, their peach sangria, and more. If you're planning to come here, I'd suggest eating beforehand, because the food is not good. Their tacos are dry; the meat and the tortilla feel like separate entities. Their croissant beignets on the other hand were absolutely phenomenal. It's exactly what you'd expect and it was amazing! Their drinks are good here, too. I had their lavender margarita which was absolutely perfect. Their peach sangria can be better. They sold bunches of lavender in their gift stores and you had opportunities to take photos with their lavender in the fields. It was a unique experience overall away from your usual city life. I don't think I'll come back again. I've been three times enough, and it's generally the same. I'd recommend trying it once to see what it's like, and that's all.

I think I'd much prefer not paying for parking or for admission! I'm writing this review after attending their Mother's Day weekend preseason festivities. Parking is paid for alongside your admission ticket. It was free on Mother's Day as long as you paid for parking. It wasn't room bad, but the gravel and dirt road isn't friendly, so beware. There are plenty of things to do while at the farm. They have plenty of food and fun things for the lavender festival. The Farm itself has a hotel, sourdough area, perfume class, a matcha room, and two bars you can sit and drink in. I'm giving it the stars that I am because I'm not a fan of their food. Their drinks here are decent, but I feel as though the workers here are burnt out. It's definitely packed on every corner with a lot of people. Even when taking photos with the lavender, it's busy and a bit overwhelming. It is a lovely concept overall, and a nice experience away from the busy city.

We also got to explore the grounds and found some cool shops and the place called The Courtyard. Also got some yummy matcha in the Matcha room. Beer tents located in one area and food tents located in another area filled the air with amazing aroma from grilled sausages. There were awesome choices of homemade sausages such as bratwurst, chorizo and lamb sausages. European choices of sausages included Italian sausages, spicy Hungarian sausages, frankfurter, and Nürnberger bratwurst. We decided to order the Schiewnshaxe which was a baked pork shank served with a delicious sauerkraut. I don't like sauerkraut, but their sauerkraut was really tasty and slightly sweetened. The Schiewnshaxe was juicy, tender and full of flavor. We liked it so much we ordered it again for $13 a piece. There were other options of crazy hot dogs like Chicago style dogs and guacamole sriracha dogs to name a few. The dessert tents really caught my eye when I saw Lavender ice cream. Let me tell you... this is one of the best lavender ice cream I ever had! I wanted another scoop but I had to surrender from all the food we consumed. I am definitely coming back next year. This festival was family oriented with live music, games for both kids and adults and some kid activities for some fees. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The entire place is set up like colonial America, and the attention to detail is incredible. All of the staff stay fully in character the entire time, and their costumes are beautifully made and very detailed. It really adds to the whole experience. The farm itself isn't your typical farm,it's more of a historical village with different stations set up to demonstrate things like candle making, crocheting from that time period, how the judicial system worked, and even the types of games people used to play. One of the highlights was the Revolutionary War reenactment at the end, where the kids actually got to participate as soldiers. It was such a cool experience and also really educational at the same time. I went as part of a school group, but you could definitely visit on your own and still have a great time. The food was good, but the baked goods were the real standout -- fresh breads, pies, cookies, homemade ice cream, shakes... everything tasted amazing. I also liked that you can order ahead online and just pick up when you get there. The staff were incredibly patient and kind with the kids, even when they got a little impatient, which I really appreciated. Overall, it felt like being transported back in time, and I would absolutely love to come back again.

You can't go wrong with any of the apple farms. If you're looking for a specific type of apple, ask the staff and they'll be happy to point you in the right direction. Apple samples can also help determine what type of apples you want. Prices vary depending on the apple type, and a minimum weight requirement applies. At the heirloom Winesap orchard, there was a two-pound minimum. We enjoyed exploring and picking fresh fruit from the trees--a real treat for the whole family, especially the kids. Wear comfy shoes you won't mind getting dirty. The weekends can be terribly busy, so it's recommended to visit as early as possible or during the weekdays. Fall is also an excellent time of year to visit. There are plenty of places to eat and things to do around the area as well--a perfect place to spend the day or half a day.

When you drive up to Riley's there are staff that direct you to either the Colonial Chesterfield Restaurant & Bakery area (lower parking lot) where they also have archery, tomahawk throwing, and other colonial-themed games and activities or to the upper lot where there's Heritage Homestead BBQ, an apple and pear u-pick field, and a little barn area with goats. You can also do a ride-a-long on a tractor that takes you around the farm. We stopped at the upper lot to pick apples & pears first, and had some BBQ inside the packing shed. We had the chicken cowboy plate ($27) as well as the tri-tip cowboy plate, with 3 sides each. We ended up getting ranch beans, coleslaw, potato salad, and corn bread. Everything was quite tasty, and the apple BBQ sauce was great. The cornbread was also great with butter and honey. Both the chicken and tri-tip were cooked very well and tasted great with the BBQ sauce. Within the packing shed, there were tables/seats and a bar in which you can order drinks and listen to a band while eating. After that, we went fruit picking which was a fun hands-on experience for adults and kids at an affordable price. We also went to the lower farm area where we had desserts. You would order outside, and you can either sit outdoors or go inside of the tavern to sit and eat (there's air conditioning inside) which was nice since it was in the 90s the day that we went. We ordered the apple shake and a blueberry turnover, which were both good. We ended up walking around the grounds to see the pond and the different activities they had to offer. We didn't get to do any of the activities since we went there late and they were about to close. There were also signs showing that they do themed days, which looked really cute and fun. We'll definitely be back again to enjoy the different activities.
