Very reasonably priced massages in Burbank! I actually think they might be one of the best priced massages in Los Angeles. My husband and I originally drove to China Town, thinking we might find some amazing massage deals there, only to return home to Burbank and find this place right under our noses! And add to that that they are AMAZING! I've been there twice and both times I've gotten the best massages of my life (and I've actually gotten a lot of massages)! I have a lot of shoulder/neck pain and they are very good at targeting that area for me. They are firm, but not painful--it's really fantastic! I've had a mere half-dozen professional massages in my time, but this one was astounding! There are two styles offered here, straight Thai or combo. I assume that the "combo" incorporates Thai style with shiatsu, or something. Anyway, you can either go with no oil for $40 or do the "combo" and get Thai + oil for $50. The skin-on-skin Thai component was really great. It might sound like there's a ton of friction involved, but I didn't experience any discomfort as other reviewers may have mentioned. It was mostly a lot of pressing and knees and elbows and forearms and such. My therapist worked very hard for the entire hour. I explained where I was hurting, and she paid a ton of attention to my needs, but also left ample time to work the knots in my shoulders, upper-back, arms, hands, calves, feet, thighs, etc. A fantastic massage. I will definitely be going back, and at $50/hour (plus tip) I have no reason not to. read more

My hubby and I were in desperate need of a good massage. We have tried many places around town, and this place is now one of our faves. It's $50 for a combo Thai/Swedish massage - a lot of places are $40 - but this place was worth the extra cost. Especially when you compare it to the expensive hotel spas or BW. The therapists are not tiny women, like most places we have tried. What was funny is the man (owner?) who helped us called them "men" - because the two we had were not petite! I was a bit nervous at first, but completely impressed afterward. Don't get me wrong, it was painful at times - especially if you have a ton of knots like me - but you will feel BETTER. Great at loosening up tight spots and hitting key pressure points. They don't speak English very well, but you just point and they get it. They have the padded tables with the face hole... much better than the floor mats, for sure. I do recall some kind of music box type music, but the massage is so good, you get over how strange it is! I was in so much pain when I stumbled upon Olive Thai Massage. My therapist had me twisted into a pretzel and I loved every minute of it. The best part was when she asked me "can I step on you". I don't think she picked up on my sense of humor when I promptly responded with "I thought you'd never ask!". You have to park on the street....so what, who cares? But for $40, your muscles will thank you and I guarantee you'll be back. Side note: I was there and there was a jerk in the next room who would not get off his phone and has clearly never been taught about "inside voices". The establishment doesn't ask you not to be on the phone so you may have to take it upon yourself and yell at your neighbors to "GET OFF THE PHONE!!" But it worked. read more

This is one of Burbank's gems. The best massages for the best price. I've been to Olive Thai Massage probably over 10 times in the past couple of years. Since my first visit, I've never tried to get a massage anywhere else. They're always friendly, professional, and clean... but most importantly, I've never had such a fantastic massage (every time!) AND they're extremely reasonably priced! I always get the 60 minute Combo Massage (only $50, but I leave a hefty tip) which is a deep tissue massage with stretching at the end. This isn't for people who don't like to be touched. They REALLY GET IN THERE. So if you have knots and tight mussels and need a masseuse with serious strength and power, see these ladies! All of them I've tried are fantastic at what they do, and deceivingly strong women! However, I've started requesting Suda (sp?), she's great. They're always open, it seems. I just have to say that having a masseuse that listens to you instead of going through their pre determined routine is quite nice. I'm sorry that I don't remember her name but I appreciated not only the massage, but the stretching that she worked into the hour. I've been twice and each time she listened and adjusted for my aches. Also, I like that she works the tendons as well and not just the muscle masses. I am so incredibly impressed. When I saw how reasonable the pricing was for a Burbank shop, I questioned the quality. But I needed pampering fast and I'm on a budget. So I went and as soon as I walked in the door, I could feel the warmth and healing overwhelm me. The place is cozy and dim, and--to my surprised joy--has lullaby music playing. There are individual rooms and beds, all comfy and warm. I had a wonderful woman give me an excellent swedish massage, and she didn't skimp over anything. She made sure I was always comfortable too. I've never had a thai massage before. Just when you think "oh the lady could stand to push a little harder," is when the elbows and knees come in. Went here a few weeks ago for a 1 hour combo massage was okay lady very nice paid with my card $50 and gave her cash for her tip. I find out they charged my card $120 so I called shop and they said talk to your bank and my bank says they manually changed it. I have been to many massage shops and they can add any amount on your bill like a restaurant until they close the day on machine. I would suggest pay cash or they will screw you. Also sounds like they were doing the nasty next door to me so be aware. I do not care about the money just do not lie in my face when you know you screwed up thats all. The great thing about Olive Thai Massage is that you can have your choice of what KIND of massage you get. Look on the wall and choose accordingly. If you want a relaxing massage, then ask for a Sweedish massage - then you won't be complaining about the pain. If you want a deep massage, be prepared for some pain! You can also ask for a combo of any of their offerings, so if you end with Sweedish, you have had the therapeutic deep or stretching massage, and then you relax it out with Sweedish. My new favorite over there is hot stone! It is another great one to combine with one of the other choices.... I highly recommend this place - and I go there as often as I can :-) read more

This is NOT the place for you if you cannot handle a seriously deep massage. I, who have abused my body with boxing and kickboxing, LOVE the abuse. This is the only place where my body is forced to behave itself and not be in pain. Plus, I am extremely difficult for a chiropractor to adjust. Their technique is not for the weak of heart & holy crap it does sound like my head is being snapped off, but dear God it's so happy afterwards. I love that there's no question about stepping & really working the issues in my body. Most massage places are worried about putting that much pressure on a 105 lbs frame. Got a massage here a few weeks back. The reviews made it sound awesome. My masseuse basically tried to sever my muscles from the bone using her pointy elbows. It was the most painful massage I have ever had. Being a 'tough guy' I decided to just let her go figuring maybe it was one of those things where I'd feel totally awesome the next day. Nope. So i went there last night for a deep tissue massageswhich i have had before and it is not that painful, the girl kept pressing down on my body with her elbow really deep and shoved her fingers so deep she pretty much touched my bones, I'm sure she tore a muscle or something because i can barely move my arm now. I had severe back pain and problems 3 years ago from a previous car accident, well it came back to haunt me! The girl put her leg on my lower back and pulled me up from my legs causing my back to give out. I told her 4 times to take it easy, but all she would do is laugh say ok and continue to abuse my body. Never going there again. read more

The lady who massaged me was nice. It was a little annoying hearing the young child playing in the lobby as I got a massage but not a huge issue. The real issue was the massage itself. She was very rough and very fast. It was not relaxing. If she just slowed down it might have been a better experience. But she was ridiculously fast in her massage movement. It was not the relaxing experience I expected and a lot of times it just plain hurt. When I asked her to massage softer she did but I felt weird asking her to slow down. Her massage technique/moves were not particularly good either. The facility itself is dark in the rooms and that's not a bad thing all it needed to be was a room with a table for a massage. Since it was dark I can't tell you if it was nice or not. I really wanted to like this place. But I won't be back. read more

So I went back again. I steeled myself for all the pain and I went in knowing it would be worth it. And, for the most part, my second visit wasn't painful at all! It was almost, dare I say it, soothing! I have some theories: 1) The first time, I was pre-menstrual (TMI, I know) and actually the massage might have expedited the process. I went to this massage place based on the reviews here. I never have gotten a worse massage ever in my life. I get massages often, about 8-10 a year. I go to Burke Williams, Message Envy, and various Thai Massage places when I want to save some money. I requested a 1 1/2 hour massage and while I was on the table, I requested to change it to 1 hr because it was so bad. And I'm the type that doesn't like to complain! It has to be realllllyyyy bad for me to say something. She was so rough and her technique was terrible. I couldn't relax because it was so uncomfortable. Her hands felt bony and I think she even used her elbows on me and not in any relaxing kind of way. I would avoid this place at all cost! I gave this 2 stars because they were nice and friendly. 5 stars is an understatement! I love this place. If your looking for a relaxed, oily massage where you wonder off into a ocean breeze then this aint the place for you. This is what you call an actual deep tissue Thia Massage. My job requires 8 hrs of sitting and my lower back had taken a beating. Called in and setup an appointment for the same day no hassle! I went with the combo deal for 50 dollars. Man was this the best 50 dollars spent! Tina, my masseuse, went to work! I had to hold my breath a few times but overall enjoyed the experience. Upon first walking in I was really disappointed by how dingy this place is. It needs a face lift really bad. Even worse, I had to use the bathroom.. Scary! But I was in a rush and already committed so I went through with my thai massage anyway. I'm so glad I did! Tina did an AMAZING job. She was more gentle when she could tell I couldn't take it. She really in tune with where my trouble spots were and she worked hard to get the knots out. And to the "men" who posted that the massage was to rough for them, that is the whole point of thai massage. My love and I came in for some much needed massages. I've been suffering from frequent headaches recently. My neck and shoulder area has had a lot of tension. Then the other day I've had a sharp pain under my left shoulder blade. We both had the combo Massages. WOW! My massage was incredible. I had a lot of pressure points I had no idea existed. The pain under my shoulder blade was released before I left the table. It wasn't exactly relaxing for me, because I went in with a lot of discomfort and back pain. However I was more interested in feeling better and less stress. She treated areas on my body I had no idea were under so much stress. My pain tolerance is pretty high so I love Tai massages. If you don't have a high tolerance I would recommend having a Swedish massage. I have asthma and eczema. The lotion and oil they used did cause me any reaction. A matter of fact, after the massage my chest didn't feel so heavy. I was able to breath easier. We were impressed in the quality of the massages. Customer service was very friendly. There was a cute little preschooler sitting in the lobby. She was well behaved and very quiet. We plan on going once a month. I highly recommend this place! read more

The facilities are a bit bare bones, but they do an amazing job with their massages. I would often go to fancy massage places because I didn't know any better, but always felt like the facilities are beautiful, but the massages are sub-par and the prices are high. Olive Thai Massage is just the opposite - the facilities are humble (ex. they use disposable paper sheets like at the doctor's office rather than real cloth sheets. At least I know the sheets are clean!), but the massages are out of this world (if you seriously like very deep, strong, massages)! My muscles are always very tight and these gals really work hard to loosen them up - by then end of the massage, they are panting and out of breath because they've been working so hard. It's always easy to schedule with them and they are so nice and accommodating. They always remember me when I come in even if it's been months and they always offer me a piece of fruit and some water after the massage. As long as you know you're going there for a great massage without breaking the bank rather than a place with frilly ambiance, you'll be good to go. read more

This is the first place I have ever been for a massage so I can't compare it to other places but I can say it is totally awesome! I wanted a deep tissue massage to get the knots I had out but they also do the lighter Swedish massage (if you are a wuss.) Not gonna lie, it hurt....a little. There were only a few areas she worked on that made me scrunch up my face up for a second. When she was working on my back I could feel the tension fly away. I'm big on massages as I have a lot of tension from stress and traveling. Not sure what I did to my shoulders, but this is the only place that can fix it! Better than any chiropractor or physical therapist I've ever seen. I've had a lot of massages in a lot of places, but none as good as here.
