(We're on a first name basis) The stars of the show here are Chidi and Eleanor, two absolutely gorgeous goats who are friendly, curious, and surprisingly responsive to visitors. Pay attention to the signage - one urges visitors to try yelling, "Hey Goats," if they aren't waiting by the fence. They'll usually come running. (Though I felt silly doing it the first time, it really does work!) I love how much personality the owners have put into this neighborhood farm experience. There are adorable hand-painted signs throughout the space, and it's evident a lot of care has been placed into building and maintaining the enclosure. In fact, visitors will find a treat dispensor to the right of the street-facing fence. Don't miss out on a chance to feed the goats - they'll love you forever!

I took my kids for a visit to frog pond farm. They have a plethora of animals for you to visit…read more You can buy feed cups for $5 at the admissions office. Their fall festival, including the pumpkin patch, was not running yet and I felt some of the farm was a little limited because of that. They ran out of apple cider donuts for purchase and parts of the farm had a closed sign on it. That being said, there was still plenty of animals to visit, including two camels!, bounce houses for kids, outdoor games, and general farm vibes. Next time I would pack a picnic lunch as the only options available were lemonade and donuts until they were sold out on site. Staff was friendly and the animals looked well cared for. Perfect spot for a weekend farm day activity. I was surprised how much fun my kids had and look forward to visiting again when I can walk more of the farm.

I'm so glad I booked and cannot wait to go back with my family who will be visiting bc WA this summer. The entrance is about half a mile drive in to the farm. You start seeing the Alpacas right away and there are so many! It's an instant high pitch voice of excitement on my part (haha). The owner and daughter were waiting for us to greet us and were so kind! We did four different activities with the Alpacas: walked up to them and gave us background info on the Alpacas and farm, we pet a one year old Alpaca and two year old, fed them, walked two other Alpacas and ended our tour in their gift shop. The gift shop we had one more daughter who walked us through the texture of fiber and how it ends as yarn. The owner's wife whom we did not meet but hope to in the future made two hats and they were beautiful! $45 each and we bought those. She's also a photographer and does photography with the Alpacas if you wanted. It was an amazing experience!

If you've never heard of the Belmont Goats, read on! Their story began years ago on a vacant lot on SE Belmont where the goats were originally brought in to clear brush. (Goats are really great at that - 50 goats can clear roughly one acre in 3-5 days) But what started as a practical land management solution, quickly bloomed into something much bigger. The public fell in love with these friendly goats! Over the years the goats have faced their fair share of struggles, but the public has banded together to ensure they always have a safe and reliable home. Because of this community support, the goats have done a fair bit of travel within the city. They left Belmont for several locations in Lents, then moved north to University Park, then made their way to a permanent home in St Johns at Pier Park. I just want to say "thank you" to all the volunteers who have contributed their time, donated money, and advocated for these sweet creatures over the years. The community that has been built around the Belmont Goats says a lot for Portlanders, and our shared appreciation for making our city a friendly and loving place. It's free, but donations accepted to help out with the goats. The people running the place were friendly and informative. I was able to pet and brush the goats. The goats were cute, and I enjoyed getting to spend some time with them. :)

If you're planning on visiting, make a reservation for ether a group or private tour. The group tour is $15 per person while the private tour is $150 for the entire group. The only drawback with the group tour is you don't know how many people might be in it. We had almost 40 in our group and that was a bit too many in my opinion. When you arrive, check-in is inside the red barn. They'll let you know which group tour you belong to. They have port o' potties and hand washing stations behind the barn. If you end up getting any food from the food truck (ostrich sliders and ostrich philly steak style sandwiches), you can bring it into the barn where there's picnic style tables and benches. The "gift shop" is also inside the barn. If you do come on wet day or after it rains, be sure to wear appropriate shoes...it can get muddy as you walk from one animal area to another.

Their tour was running late- by late I mean 40 minutes... so we had to shuffle things around party wise. The tour consists I of seeing the animals. Didn't realize that the Ostrich were there for lol meat purposes. During the tour kiddos got to feed them. They have a few different areas to roam, with some tables. It's a decent sized place. I think it could use some TLC though.

I was surprised at the price. $15 per ton for dumping dirt and $5 per ton for dumping concrete. Definitely the most affordable place in the area. I only took one start down because maneuverability is a little difficult especially with a trailer and service is sometimes slow due to the guys not always being in the office when you drive up to weigh.

They also have the cutest spicy little goat baby, that was hilarious to watch. The family was very friendly and engaged with us shoppers and the farm livestock. He also sells at the Camas Farmer's Market and we always try to support them when we can. You can find special events during the holidays - and the Hayride is definitely a hit with all the toddlers! I booked online last-minute (the day of, and likely via an online bot, but was not given a time slot to choose from). I called, only to find out Ramona was not even there for most of the day. Since we were flying out the next morning, she was so very gracious to squeeze in a time slot for us later in the afternoon when she returned. Our private tour was nothing short of perfect. Ramona has used her interior decorating background to cultivate a landscape that exudes beauty and peace, and was happy to share her wealth of knowledge in all things lavender, as well as the stories behind the other areas and elements on her property. Being animal lovers, a highlight was getting to see, feed, and love on the donkeys, sheep and other animals that she caringly tends to. Although not actually part of the tour, she even let us take a peek at her fabulous and cozy Airbnb (Urban Donkey Studio) she has on-property, which was unoccupied at the time. Now we have another place we have put on our go-to list! After 2 weeks of hiking and being on the go-go-go, touring Sunderland Acres and getting to know Ramona was an exceptional way to decompress, calm our spirits, and bask in the beauty, peace, and love before heading back to real life. Despite me "making" them go, we all had a great time and picked 3, ate one, picked 3, ate one and so on and so on and so on until our bellies and our boxes were full of berries. At this visit (mid-July) there were many varieties of red raspberries, blueberries, and yellow raspberries ($3/lb), a bouquet of flowers (50 cents to $1 a stem), and the freshest green beans ($1.50/lb). Other veggies and herbs were also available. The garden is surrounded by rolling hills and backed by snow capped mountains. Just beautiful! Less than 30 minutes outside of the city, but a world away.
