There are more than enough blueberry trees/bushes with lots of big juicy sweet blueberries and small ones that are still a a little bit tart (my husband likes the tart ones). We feel very lucky to have met Fred himself there-- such a sweet man just like others said about him. We may have spent about 1.5 hrs and got 2 buckets (about 5lbs) for $2/lbs-- we had so much fun and will definitely back in years to come.

At this visit (mid-July) there were many varieties of red raspberries, blueberries, and yellow raspberries ($3/lb), a bouquet of flowers (50 cents to $1 a stem), and the freshest green beans ($1.50/lb). Other veggies and herbs were also available. The garden is surrounded by rolling hills and backed by snow capped mountains. Just beautiful! Less than 30 minutes outside of the city, but a world away.

This is a third generation farm - their grandparents immigrated from Japan in the early 1900s. It's almost 300 acres and they've got apples, pears, peaches, cherries, berries, and probably more. The farmstand is open July through November. They've got a pick your own/U-pick options. They specialize in growing over 150 different varieties of apples, pears, cherries, and stone fruit. Their website is pretty up-to-date on which fruit are available at any given time. I really enjoyed stopping into the marketplace for a wide selection of pre-picked fruits, some of which had samples available. They were priced by weight and I was very pleased with the cost in the end ($12 for so many apples!).

What caught my eye was a u-pick sign and the quaint little barn store that had its doors open for business. I decided to venture up the drive to pick my own berries and I practically had the beautiful rolling fields and mountainous background to myself! Only $1.75/lb for strawberries this early in the season. Great experience!
