No updates in the restaurant. The customers looked like they were all enjoying their time with the chill vibe or energy that Olive Tree gives. The cashier/clerk is very nice! She greeted me with a warm smile and my food was ready to go. As for my order, I ordered something different from before, which was the shawarma chicken platter. Had an okay experience at Olive Tree in Kent. The food had some highlights, but the service could definitely use improvement. The cashier seemed to have difficulty understanding the order from the beginning, which made the process a little frustrating. When I mentioned that the chicken kebab was too dry and asked if I could switch to the lamb kebab instead, the response from the cook/owner felt defensive, and I was made to feel like I was only asking for lamb rather than sharing genuine feedback about the food. I paid the difference, no problem. The Olive Tree fries were delicious, and once I received the lamb kebabs, they were excellent juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. I enjoyed the food itself, but the customer service experience made the visit less enjoyable. So out of curiosity I tried baba ghanoush at other local spots but this one is my favorite because it has the most eggplant in it and is nice and chunky. I feel like other places use more tahini than eggplant which changes the flavor and/or they blend it too much which loses the mashed up eggplant texture I like. There was no box to check on DoorDash. I basically had to eat food with my hands until my husband went and found some. Normally I wouldn't be this crabby, but I just got off the plane and I've had nothing to eat all day. No matter what put your utensils in with the food OLIVE TREE! I was shopping at Trader Joe's and decided to grab some lunch with my partner since it was located on the same plaza. We've ordered take out from Olive Tree before but haven't dine inside before. As we entered the restaurant, we had to walk to the counter to order our food. The menu was displayed behind the counter with some pictures. If you're like me, I like to read the menu on their website ahead of time before ordering. I ordered the avocado chicken shawarma wrap combo with garlic fries while my partner got the gyro combo with olive tree fries. Once you order and pay for your food, you look for a table to dine in. The restaurant has a nice ambiance filled with rustic decors like you're in the Mediterranean. Service is non existent except when they bring your food. For my dish, I really love the marinate of the chicken shawarma which goes so well with the avocado, lettuce, tomato, onion and tzatziki sauce, wrapped in pita bread. It seemed like a very healthy meal. Did I mention the garlic fries were to die for?! The garlic aioli smothered all over the fries tasted so delicious, with strong garlic flavors. Made it very hard to share. If you're a garlic lover, this is a must order! I sampled my partner's gyro wrap and it tasted very good. The meat wasn't dry and gamey, which I like. 4 years ago this was the place my Mediterranean friend from nearby college and I used to go to. They definitely approved this place (back then) and we came here when we had money to have our "fancy" dinner as college students. First, now we go to the counter, order and pay. They give us the number order and we get our own drink at the machine. Another thing that shocked me, the food came in a disposable plate. Yes, it looked unique (bamboo like) but quite flimsy. I asked them for what they are known for or what do they recommend on their menu and they did not have any opinion... all I got was that people liked everything on the menu. I asked about which lamb dish is best between lamb shank and lamb kebab and they said it's two different dish. Of course I know that but I wanted to know their opinion at least or some explanation on which one to choose. Portions were definitely smaller than in the past and the dine-in is not as busy as it used to be. (Maybe owner changed?idk maybe this is so since Covid). They had quite significant to-go order though. We ordered: -dolmas (appetizer). It came with 6pieces and it was ok. -lamb kebab plater #8. It was good. The lamb was not consistent in cooking since some were well done and some were pink. -chicken shawarma #2. It was decent/ok. Some of the chicken pieces were quite small (maybe it's the last portion order?). Seasoning was not quite t The whole order came with pita bread (they put both in the same foil, no plate just straight foil) In general, I was quite disappointed because this used to be a really good place. Was excited to come here based on the reviews but we were underwhelmed. First, you come in and order from a counter. Prices are decently high and you tip them even though they really don't serve you. You get your own drinks and they just bring the food to you. We noticed most people just order takeout. The wait was long while ordering in. I ordered 2 gyros and my wife ordered a gyro platter. It took a solid 30 minutes to get the food. The food itself was pretty mediocre I am sad to say. The gyro meat had basically zero flavor but they do give a lot of meat. The rice, cheese and vegetables seemed good. They overcharged me an extra drink and I asked for hummus on the gyro which they charged me for and completely forgot that. I didn't even want to bring it up because it had already taken 30 minutes to get the wrong gyro in the first place. So this was my conclusion...cons are price, tips for nothing, food flavor bland, wait time, extra charges and forgotten order requests. Nice find in a strip mall. As usual the Yelpers didn't lead me astray. Nothing fancy about this place, you order by walking up to a counter but the food is really good. Love that they have pictures on the menu so you can see what you're getting. I like to take pictures but this time it looked so yummy I just dug right in. I had a pita gyro, super tasty and the pita was fresh and all the fillings were so good. For $2 more I got a Greek salad which of course I couldn't finish, the sandwich was pretty big so brought it home for later. The cost was $15 which I thought reasonable. My friend got chicken avocado swarma, and she said it was excellent. You can get take out or sit in one of the booths. Drinks are out of a soda fountain so do expect fresh ice tea but that's ok. The food: Olive Tree has a variety of gyros and salads with a plethora of exotic Mediterranean spices and style! In other words, it has fabulous food! The service: I've been to Olive Tree no less than twenty times, and the staff are usually nice and really helpful! However, the wait for the food is usually 15-45 minutes (it varies by how busy it is) but it's definitely worth the wait! The restaurant itself: It has a low lighting in the room, which is actually kind of calming. A huge map of the Mediterranean is framed on one of the walls. There are booths and tables with regular chairs, too. It's a beautiful restaurant with decor that brings you to the Mediterranean without even crossing the ocean. Final notes: I would definitely recommend Olive Tree! It is a beautiful restaurant with a calming atmosphere. Besides that, they make delicious food! And that is saying a lot since I'm an American-style girl who usually can't abide foreign food. But Olive Tree is just... amazing.! read more

New the state and new to the area. This place is LEGIT. Greek style with a Chipotle feel. Large portions and good pricing. Their garlic sauce was creamy, non-painful and tasty. This is such a difficult review to leave, but I am extremely disappointed in the food we received tonight. The Greek Village Gyro was decent, but you all know that fries on that is not a Greek thing, it's a Middle East thing. I know that specifically in Lebanon fries on a sandwich is the norm (because yes, I've been there). The side of lamb that I got was cooked well, it was tender and well seasoned. Ok, now we get to the bad. Did this place change ownership?? Seriously, the quality and flavor of the food I got tonight was so many levels below food I have gotten here before. I'm going to start with the hummus. THAT WAS NOT hummus!! There was no lemon, barely a hint of tahini and barely a hint of garlic, also why did it not have a firmness to it? It's almost like it was the end of that batch and someone added water to it to stretch it out a bit. The "dressing" on the salad tasted like oil with some oregano added, there was no flavor to it at all. It was just an oil slick on my salad. The chicken wasn't bad. It was lacking in some flavor and could have been seasoned better but it was not overcooked. I made a grave mistake in putting garlic sauce on rice before trying it. The garlic sauce ruined the rice. Good Middle Eastern garlic sauce should have a garlic punch to it. The sauce I received was not good, not at all. It was more of a garlic aioli mayo. The garlic paste was equally as bad. I'm going to suggest that the owner take a drive to Bellevue or Issaquah and go to Garlic Crush. Go get yourself some good Lebanese Garlic Paste (aka Toum) and then please...please fix yours. It was gross. Yes, it had a garlic flavor but I tasted the oil more and that's just not right. I also did not get any bite of lemon in it and I don't think any salt was used. How long has it been since the owner tasted the food being served???? When you first opened your food was good...really good. But tonight...It was so bad that if I ever go back it will be to literally only get a side of the lamb and then I'll go over to Trader Joes and get some garlic paste. I see you have a new Seattle location, so for the record I was at the location in Kent. Maybe the other one is better?? I'll be sticking with Garlic Crush from now on and that has me a bit sad because I know someone in your family and have always wanted to support your business because of that!!!! *The photo below is the dressing that was on my salad. Finally made it here, and it did not disappoint! We ordered : Tepsi soup: first time I had it, and it was good! It's soup made of eggplant and tomatoes. It reminded me of eggplant Parmesan in soup form (excludes breaded and cheese) Lamb shank: ok..... they cooked this lamp perfect! Everything in our plate was delicious! How dare ME look for a knife for this lamb! It was fall off the bone and so tender. And their homemade dressing on the salad-- It was so simple, and it was impressive. I never know what to say about these guys!...they are Good, but very in consistent. They make a beautiful salad, with wonderful dressing... but it's often SOGGY!.. it hadn't been properly washed and dried. The gyro meat is another area that is very inconsistent... one time I will have so much meat... it's a bolstered serving, and other times it's so skimpy you're asking yourself 'where's the meat?'
