Went there with a group of 6 and had a huge order -- whole roast chicken, multiple kababs, qubooli pulaav, hummus, desserts. Taste: some of the best chicken I have had in a while. Tender, juicy, succulent, with just a right seasoning and spice. The ground meat kababs were average. Lamb kabab just decent. The whole grilled chicken was really good -- again, tender, juicy and succulent. These guys definitely know their chicken. The pistachio baklavas were great. But the Kunafa quality has gone down. Couple of months back, Kunafa was great. This time, the cheese quantity had dwindled and replaced by some filler (cornflour-y, custardy- stuff), and an overuse of orange color and artificial essence. The butter/ghee was also almost missing. [Someday I would love to unravel the mystery of why restaurants use artificial color -- be it tikkas, chicken 65, desserts. No one likes it -- name one customer who has ever said, that a dish needs color for me to buy/eat it. The customers don't want it. The restaurant has to spend more money to purchase the color. It's extra effort to add it. It's a lose-lose-lose situation. But let's leave it for now] Portions aren't humungous but quite fair for the price. The whole roasted chicken is probably the best chicken deal in the US right now -- 20 bucks will get you a full, good-quality bird, done to perfection, along with fragrant rice. Service is very good. Our server Mustafa was amazing -- gave us great recommendations, was prompt, and overall made us feel welcome. Ambience is OK. Extremely spacious (one of the biggest per-capita restaurant space that you will ever see), and clean. The furniture and decor is a bit dated, but you might not notice it. A huge pointer for the management: please get clean the bathrooms. Bathrooms are in a very sad need of repair and upkeep, and in this day, age and location, a bathroom that smells of pee can truly tarnish all the good efforts and investments you guys are making. It's an easy fix -- $30/day and you can have someone come in deep clean it every day. Overall, highly recommended for the food! read more

The quality and portion sizes have noticeably declined. It seems there may be new management or a different cook, as the dishes are no longer prepared the way they used to be. I always ordered the chicken tikka kebab, but now the plate comes with just a few small pieces of chicken and an overwhelming amount of rice. Previously, the chicken portions were generous and well-balanced. They also recently changed the bread, which is disappointing since it used to be one of my favorite parts of the meal. Unfortunately, the new bread doesn't compare to the original, and it really takes away from the overall experience. I used to look forward ordering from here all the time - but not anymore. Great prices! This place is a mix of different cultures. Sometimes that doesn't work, but I mostly enjoyed what we bought here. I don't think the food is as good as the baked goods, which are amazing. We tried a semolina cake (nomura, hareesa, basboosa - so many names), canafa, and a pistachio covered baklava. Excellent. Don't let the dimly lit inside deter you. I've come a few times to get the desserts that's made fresh in-house. The baklavas are great, though most of them taste similar. I usually get a few different types with pistachio, and always kanafeh with cheese. The servers are super friendly. I've been offered a free sample ofbaklava, and the fluffiest freshly baked bread to try. Happened to be in Kent area and was looking for some interesting food. Checked my trusty Yelp and found that this place served Lahmajun, which is a favorite dish I recently discovered while traveling in Turkey. So of course I had to check it out! The restaurant is quite large and there was only one other table seated. The interior looks like it could be been glamorous back in the day, but is looking a bit shabby now. Now to the food: Lahmajun: 6/5 stars! This was SO good. Perfect thin crust and very flavorful meat topping. Large serving. Highly recommend. Greek salad: 3/5. Veggies were fresh, but it was lacking flavor. Just cheese and olive oil. But it was good to get our veggies in Beef/lamb shawarma sandwich and saj (wrap): 2.5/5 Had high hopes for these, but neither were very good. It was dry. Really could have used some sauce. We took a few bites and then took the rest to go. Was much better at home with some garlic yogurt sauce we had. Baklava: 5/5. They have so many different types! I just walked up to the case and pointed at some yummy looking ones. Wish we had got a couple extra to go. Note, they do not serve any alcohol. I really would've liked a glass of wine or beer with my meal, so that was a bummer. The tap water tasted off too. Hubby got mango juice which was good. I don't live in the area, so likely won't be back anytime soon. BUT if you're out this way I'd say give the Lahmajun and baklava a try. read more

Had to update my review since it's been a while since I had, and about a dozen of us went to dine here a few months ago. I just forgot to write the review. The place looked like you walked in to a different country, it was beautiful, great decor. Amazingly enough it's just down the street from most of us. I normally order delivery, but this time I wanted to try in person. We were all so impressed by the food, so tasty, we all loved the bread and the baklava. The selection of baklava was so impressive. The service was also over the top. My friend loved the Turkish coffee or whatever it was, so loved it so much. So a bunch of us will go back this week again. read more

This place is the old Moonraker bar (back in the day). We tried this on a Monday night, and they only had one server. Initially it wasn't busy, but it picked up, so understandably the server wasn't super attentive. He was very friendly though. We tried a bunch of stuff. The greek salad was good, but extra loaded with onions. We had two orders of fries, one was an order of greek fries. Both were just okay, I've definitely had better greek fries. The extra yummy thing here was the Chicken Sawerma Pizza....delish. Super thin crust, with chicken, tomato, onion and a bonus....pickle! Who knew! This was a great choice, and I would get it again. Another delicious option was the beef & lamb gyro. It came out with a grill marks on it, and was really very good. The sambousas were loaded with meat and very filling. One of the main attractions here is the bakery bar. A long counter along the back with tons, and tons, and tons of bakery items. Our server helped us get a to-go box filled and even offered a tasting or two. I would definitely go back for the pizza and gyro. And for a sweet or two!! read more

I was recommended by a colleague on how good this place is so I stopped in to buy grilled lamb ribs to go. But before I review the food allow me explain my 1 star rating. The staff member who was helping me I caught eating behind the counter and then licked his fingers, I don't know if he washed his hands afterwards, and after I received my food he went back behind the counter to continue eating. And none of the staff was wearing masks. The grilled lamb ribs were cooked to medium, it was delicious and tender. The rice tasted gross, lacked flavor and tasted bad - it left a bad taste in my mouth and I'm not sure what it was. Hummus was good but the bread that came with it wasn't so fresh. I would had given this place two stars but it dropped down to one because of that guy licking his fingers then serving my food and no staff wearing masks. read more

I am thinking this restaurant has passed its prime. Maybe it's COVID and maybe it's just standards slipping. I ordered Lamb Tikka. I think that was the Tyson of lambs. It was TOUGH. It was cooked too fast, too hot. Only the outside was warm and the centers were cold. Not medium rare cold but refrigerator cold. The rice was flavorless...I take that back. It tasted like a hint of burlap bag. It was faint because the rice was way, way overcooked. It would have tasted more like a bag but they boiled the flavor out. Another 2 minutes and they would have had Congee. I ordered some dolma. The flavor was ok but again, the insides were goo. Most every other time I have had dolma the rice was firm and it had more flavor than just sour. Maybe it is a preference thing. I prefer to not eat things with the texture of baby food. I am just going to say no to going back. I liked the first couple of times I came but this time was seriously disappointing. I am not going to say anything. I just don't want to get into it. I've ordered here 2x now, and each time has been absolutely delicious. The lamb quzi is tender, flavorful, and filling. Each part of the mixed appetizer was packed with flavor and well-seasoned. I liked their white bean soup as well. It was lightly seasoned. Our order came with 3 huge, plain pide breads, perfect for scooping up bites of food. If you're looking for authentic Middle Eastern food in Kent, I don't think you should miss out on Shanasheel. For those who like pizza, their lahmacun (i.e. Turkish pizza) is super delish and is an interesting take on pizza. My Lamb and Beef Kabob Take out was super delicious. It was my first time to try this Turkish, Middle Eastern restaurant. They also make a large assortment of Baklava and other yummy treats. I bought 2 baklava too after asking the young waitress what was what. The lamb and beef are ground meat and very tender. The rice had different spices in it. The Pita bread was freshly baked and thick. So it was different from other Middle Eastern that give you the thin pitas from their Bread Supplier. The Space inside is large enough to hold a Reception or even a Wedding party. There is a nice stage too. The other side of the restaurant are good for smaller groups of 12 to 30 people. There is one couch seating there too. There were are few tables outside for Hookah Smoking. I saw the smoking pipes there. I asked if they have live bands there. On certain weekends they have Belly Dancers and a Live band. But not on a regular basis. So you have follow their Social Media. read more

This place is TERRIBLE. If you enjoy good Mediterranean food please do not come here. I ordered the beef and lamb shwarma and was stunned when i saw it. It was the greasiest thing I've ever seen in my life. The wrap was basically see through with how much grease it was covered it. Picked it up and my fingers immediately were coated in oil. Disgusting. I took a bite because i don't value my heart, and grease exploded in my mouth. There was no sauce or anything liquid in this wrap, only grease. The meat, oh man the meat. If you've ever wondered what it's like to lick a charcoal briquette this is the dish for you. It tastes like a flattop grill that has never been cleaned. It was tough and chewy and incredibly disappointing, not to mention gross. The 'Greek' fries i ordered were less disappointing ONLY because the wrap was so ass. They were soggy af fries with some feta grated on top. The favorite is the lamb and beef shawarma's The prices are fair despite rising costs. Their bakery goods are Amazing. I have been coming here for a year now and I am very happy with their meals. I was expecting something pretty standard like you get everywhere else. To my surprise, the fries were delicious and seasoned and the sandwich is huge for the price with what seems to be their own homemade pita/bread. Not sure if it's homemade but it's definitely unique and so soft and pillowy and so much cleaner to eat with than the normal pita that most places use. Packed with meat and so flavorful! The sandwich fries and chicken kebab (also great) was $21 after delivery fees and tips and more food than I was expecting! read more

If there is less than one star to rate this restaurant I would not hesitate to give minus Zero. The manager is do stupid that he refuses to accept any feedback. I tried to tell him that the food portion I ordered was small and enough for adult plus the amount of meat shawarma in it was very poor. He kept arguing with me and disagreeing and even lied to me claiming that the guy who prepared my dish knew me and he took care of me by adding more meat shawarma than what is the regular amount!! Grilled Lamb Ribs were all burnt, and even when bitten into left a burnt charcoal after taste. Said it would be a 10 minute wait and I was skeptical but believed them, got to the restaurant after 7 minutes and still had to wait another 15 minutes. Also got the Lamb and Beef Gyros which didn't really have any flavor, was dry and not much to it. Garlic Fries was just regular fries and a little tablespoons worth of a garlic cheese sauce. For the sandwich I got a bowl of meat and a piece of bread that I can't even put the meat in or maybe the bread was part of the shawarma meal?
