Happy New Year to Olive Ventura! It's one of my must-visit stops when we hang out in DTVTA (Downtown Ventura). Dear Hubby will sometimes come in and join me, but he knows that I'll be spending time in here, and knows where to find me if we split up to browse the shops in the area. On our New Year's Day visit, I sampled their blackberry balsamic vinegar, plus their butter-flavored olive oil. Both are winners! I didn't purchase that day because our shelf with oils and vinegars is quite full right now. I need to take stock before buying more. Also, as the staff member reminded me, if we bring in our own container to refill (clean and dry), there's a discount. The butter-flavored olive oil makes a lot of sense for those of us who avoid dairy. You can still have that buttery flavor, but cook with a heart-healthy choice in the olive oil. As usual, the shop is decked out for the season, but in a classy way. Every time I visit here I get the urge to go home and do more cooking there, versus going out. It's inspiring in that way! NOTE - at least for now, they are only stocking the fresh locally-baked bread on weekends. Not enough traffic during the week in the winter. read more

I love this store! It's one of the reasons I drive so far to go to Ventura. Whenever I'm in Ventura, it's a must stop for me. I love all of their balsamics and vinegars. They have amazing flavors. They are great to cook with and so much healthier for you. And a little goes a long way. I really like how they let you taste test most things. There have been so many times where something sounded great and then I got home and I didn't care for it. So the fact that you can taste test, most things is such a positive in my book. Then I know that I'm going to love it otherwise I don't purchase it. It's fun when the employees are passionate about a flavor and want you to try things. I love hearing their ideas and how they use them to cook. I used to shop here when it was We Olive as well. I loved it then but now I like that it is Olive Ventura , and they have so much more products and it's well stocked. Before it was very minimal. The buyer always gets really beautiful Home goods. I really enjoy all the wood products they have for charcuterie boards, and the beautiful bowls for presenting food on. I love the fresh bread they are no receiving. I came here on a Sunday with my girlfriend. The store is quaint, clean, and well arranged. They have a wide variety of oils, balsamic, olive wood, breads, and other products. The owner is very knowledgeable and helpful. He let us know about the health benefits and sampled plenty of oils and balsamic. I purchased the arbequina, vitality select evoo, and the 18 year aged balsamic. I enjoy my oil and balsamic in a variety of ways. Cooking with meats, cooking vegetables, raw salads. It was awesome to learn you can even bake with olive oil. This may sound odd, but sometimes I will put olive oil in my black coffee. The vitality select was perfect for this. I recommend trying this sometime, especially if you put butter in your coffee. It taste better in my opinion and it is definitely healthier for you! read more

Olive Ventura is a very nice store in downtown Ventura on the Main Street. As you'd probably guess, they sell olive oil, local balsamic vinegar, sauces, jellies, honey, all sorts of nice products, great for your kitchen or gifting. Besides that they have a bit of kitchen wear and home decor. You can sample here olive oil which is great to figure out the best one for you. They also offer samples, we enjoyed some nice popcorn with spices they sell in the store. The place is very crowded, a tad too bustling for me. I wish it'd be calmer to enjoy the samples and spend more time browsing before checking out. Nice customer service, the lady we dealt with had nice tips and advice about various products they sell, very useful. Nice store for the area, you need one in this part of SoCal to enjoy the variety of local products! read more

Olive me loves some olive oil and balsamic vinegar at Olive Ventura. This is a beautiful store with barrels of olive oil and balsamic vinegar for tasting. The sales associate greeted us when we walked in and he brought us a sample of olive oil with balsamic vinegar. I couldn't pass up on purchasing one of each. In addition the store is filled with beautiful charcuterie type boards, serving pieces, Italian pottery, dips, spreads, imported pastas, and delightful smelling body butter. We also purchased some vegan dill spread I intend on preparing my salmon with. The lemon rosemary body butter is luscious both in texture and fragrance. Apparently all the olives are sourced throughout California. Also if you properly clean and bring back the olive oil or vinegar bottle you will save $5 on a refill. I love that! Remember there are great free public parking lots nearby so you can spend the day shopping, walking and eating on Main Street. Olive me hopes olive you enjoy this shop as much as I do! read more

From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the warm, friendly husband-and-wife owners who clearly know their stuff and take genuine pride in every product on their shelves. The tasting experience was a delight. I instantly fell in love with the Organic Garlic Olive Oil--bold, fragrant, and perfect for just about everything. The Dark Chocolate Balsamic was a surprising hit (yes, chocolate + vinegar = magic), and the Arbequina Olive Oil is so fresh and smooth that "yum" is really the only way to describe it! I live about two hours away, but thankfully, they offer online ordering--which I will absolutely be taking advantage of. If you're anywhere near Ventura, do yourself a favor and stop by. When we travel to Ventura we always stop at Olive Ventura to stock up. We love their oils, balsamics and their service is exceptional.. Last time we were there they had samples of popcorn with olive oil... we had never put oil on our popcorn and it was so good.. we also learned that day that we can pop popcorn in a brown lunch bag in the microwave and then add our favorite flavored olive oil after it's been popped. So healthy and we do not buy microwave popcorn anymore! read more
