My kiddos in front of the giant map :)

You know the feeling when you walk into a place and you feel ecstatic. The teas & cookbooks are what stood out to me here. Jacob was super nice and pleasant he gave me great insight and let us smell some teas. There's something for everyone here. I can't wait to go back and attend one of their cooking classes.

Ok this little shop has so much going on in here ! Everything is definitely worth taking a look at. I tried their Papaya Peaberry tea and it was heaven in a cup . You can taste the freshness and the color it brews into is so pretty too.

Oh how I miss Ventura, California especially Main Street in the cute little town of Ventura with the best spice shop in all the land!! I have moved 3 times since and still have my favorite bags of garlic salt and some of the flavored oils and vinegars. They have all the spices one could ever dream about. Here's a tip, do not EVER move out of Southern California no matter WHAT is going on in your life. Stay in Ventura and get all of your seasonings and marinades here at SpiceTopia!! You're welcome!!

Great family owned boutique that focuses on specialty cooking items and locally sourced spices, honey, hot sauce, teas, and ceramics. If you want a one of a kind gift, this is the place to go. Perfect for those hard to shop for folks for birthdays and holidays.

Love this place. It is very well organized and they have an excellent selection. The staff here has always been very kind and helpful and talkative. I always get their mulled wine kits in the winter and they are so tasty!! They have other drink kits as well I'd like to try.

Under new management this is a cute redone spice and gift store New owner Anna-Marie Tan with help of family. Met her father Johnathan and Carol who was working retail and very helpful with my choices. The store had a nice spacious calm atmosphere. I did feel the quantity and variety of choices for spices was lacking but they made up for this with the great quality. They do have many awesome balsamic vinegars and olive oils with a tasting area in the back of the store. I felt like this area was a little plain and not quite done decorating feeling. Would like something with a little more warm welcoming feel. Seems like a work in progress. Worth a stop.

Loose teas to select from, with samples to sniff.

A scent-sational experience for your nose! With a large array of loose teas and spices, there are many choices to entice those who walk in to the store. Apparently they offer cooking classes, as well as a wide variety of goods to purchase. The historic building provides a rich backdrop to the decor of the shop. Dear Hubby asked if they sell blooming tea. They don't, but the clerk suggested Jasmine pearls as something unique. We decided to try them after sniffing the aroma. They have an extensive collection of loose teas for purchase, with small glass containers laid out so that patrons can get a whiff of the flavors. I saw something similar at a tea shop, also. This is a fun place to visit on Main Street if you enjoy tea or spices. They offer a deal where you get credit for each visit, with a $5 credit after your 5th time. Nice!

If you have the opportunity to take a cooking class at Spice-topia, do it! I recently took the Indian cooking class. Although, this particular class was a demonstration, not hands on, I learned a lot. Chef Lu sent us home with the knowledge and recipes. She served us several delights and all left more than satisfied. I enjoyed it so much and signed up for their upcoming cookie design class. If you are looking for some hard to find spices and teas, they have it! Spice-topia will inspire you to create and tantalize your palette.

Finally found the dried jalapeno I was looking for. Everywhere else I find it there is salt mixed in. Thank you for finally having straight dried jalapeno!!

Having been…read moreexperiencing health issues for a bit now, I was optimistic to try a more holistic approach and see what their services are all about. Full transparency there is a pretty significant waitlist to see Sara and I did have to wait a few months to get an individual consult with her. If you're looking for a consult and one on one, this is the best service/way to do it - just know to be patient. I signed up online with an appointment date a few months out and I did notice that when there were cancelations by other clients, I would get an email notifying me in case I wanted to get the open appointment. However, with them being so popular, by the time I'd check my emails and try to sign up for the earlier appointment they were always taken. I learned you just have to be really patient to get into here. I felt that the wait was worth it though. Sara was very knowledgeable, approachable and kind. She touched my feet and without me disclosing any of my healthcare issues she was able to relay back what she believed/could read to be some of my health issues/areas in my body that had inflammation etc. After she was through I did provide more context or validate some points she made but the initial consult / reading was all to her credit for figuring out what she could. It was a very interesting experience and enjoyable. From there Sara recommended products and I bought about 85% of them. The different vitamins and products do add up but they also seem to last about 2-3 months before I'll run out so not bad. I've been on the supplements for about a month so I'll need more time to come back here and to report what differences I see. For now I'm just getting in the swing of consistently taking the different items I purchased. Lastly, if you don't make an appointment or want an assessment, you can simply walk in and buy any products you'd like. That's definitely nice for people who already know what they are looking for or for established customers who may not need a reading/one on one with staff every-time they come. From supplements, to drinks and teas, they have it all. One item of theirs that I have been using that seems to be working well is their sore throat tea. So if you are prone to sore throats or preparing for flu season I'd definitely recommend a can of this tea. Ema's herbs is a cute place and for years I wandered right past it. Despite the signage, the little house style shop was unassuming and I had never realized what this spot was. Definitely a great local business and staff who really want to support you with your wellness and healing journey. Excited to come back in another month and grateful I was referred to them.

I want to say that "The Wash" cars are interfering with the parking for shoppers at Lassen's Health Foods. I went to Lassen's recently and was completely blocked in by cars coming out of "The Wash" tunnel, complicated further by two cars trying to back out of "The Wash" car slots and backing out into the Lassen's area. Unbelievable and frustrating!! My car nearly was hit even though I was not moving. I was blocked in because cars continued to come out of the tunnel, but couldn't yet access the other area until those people moved. This caused a pile up of vehicles around the Lassen's area, blocking me in, where I could not move into a parking slot. Who planned this anyway? Was any thought given to how these pileups can occur? In addition, "The Wash" causes a lot of unwanted noise for the Lassen's customers, especially when they eat outside. My thoughts: Move the car wash somewhere else.

She knew exactly where the one I wanted was. I love checking out all the low sugar or no sugar snacks. I was surprised to not see any low carb tortillas though. I bought some organic spices and pork chorizo. The spices were about $1-2 more than organic herbs and spices sold on regular grocery stores. The produce looked really nice. The Romaine lettuce was big, leafy and fresh looking for $3.99; the same price I paid for non-organic and subpar product at Red Barn Market that is close to me. It healed the wounds quickly and also kept them from getting infected, without having to deal with bandages and antibiotic creams. He was recommended to me as "the best" by a trusted somatic practitioner. His work is his passion--he really devotes most of his life to studying plants, herbs and holistic healing. And it is obvious that he cares deeply for his patients. (He also practices what he preaches, which is always nice too.) His psycho-spiritual background and education is invaluable for those whose pain or ailments have roots in trauma. He is also incredibly knowledgably in an array of spiritually- and psychologically-minded information that he freely shares. This can be very valuable to the healing/learning process. In this vein, his intuition is a major plus and has been very right-on. And his words often feel like messages from beyond meant just for me, which carry their own healing and are unlike work with any other practitioner. I love that his personality is easy-going and gentle, not at all pushy or ego-filled. He really takes time with you as well. I also respect that Dr. Kaehler is realistic and honest with you. He doesn't promise miracles, and he doesn't sell you a bill of goods before he gets to know you or your system. His approach is about keeping things in balance, getting to the roots of illness, and doing slow, steady healing (at least for complicated & sensitive cases like me) -- which can be hard, because we're impatient to heal, but I think he has the right idea. As for results, I wouldn't judge based on me, as I am an extreme case with deep-set chronic illnesses and major trauma history. But, I am in a better place now, and I have had some significant gains. It all came very slow and steady. In the least, this is the first practitioner who hasn't pushed any of my various conditions out of whack, which often happened with prior doctors/acupuncturists who'd help one thing but make another worse. He has also been successful at giving me acupuncture attuned to what my body can handle, whereas other acupuncturists would do a too-strong treatment, or help one thing but throw another out of whack. I don't exaggerate to say that I am blessed to have him as my doctor, and I am a better person for knowing him.

It gives you the freedom to taste everything at your own pace. You order the tasting first, then they give you a tray with delicious sourdough bread from a local bakery. The staff explained that the balsamic vinegars are imported, while all of their olive oils are produced in-house, except for the truffle oil since the local soil isn't suitable for growing truffles. After that, you head over to the tasting section where you can grab samplers of the olive oils and balsamic vinegars before finding a seat outside under the olive trees. The space itself is beautiful and peaceful. There were around 10 olive oils and 10 balsamic vinegars to try. My favorites were the TH (Tuscan Herbs) olive oil and the traditional balsamic. The flavored balsamics were interesting and fun to taste, though I still personally preferred the classic options. Overall, such a fun and worthwhile stop if you're in the Ojai area. Paid $20 for two people. Also, bonus points because they happily give extra sourdough bread if you need more :)

I barely recognize this place. What the hell happened?…read more I hadn't been back in years, and maybe that long absence is what made the decline so obvious. I remember coming here for the experience as much as the olive oil and vinegars. The warm welcome, the hospitality, the tasting experience, the opportunity to wander around and talk to people, meet new people and sample things without feeling like you were inconveniencing anyone. We used to happily spend loads of money here because the experience made you want to. This time? Cold. Impersonal. No greeting when we walked in. Tastings reduced to oils and vinegars in tiny plastic cups for purchase. What is this nickel-and-dime hustle/operation you have going? And the portable toilets outside??? What hillbilly ruined this experience? I understand that COVID changed how businesses operated. I really do. But COVID is over, and apparently the customer service decided to stay stuck behind. What disappoints me most is that this place used to have a bit of magic you couldn't manufacture. We loved returning year after year. Now it feels transactional, and that's a shame because the products deserve WAY better than that. After this visit, you can have whatever THAT is. Keep the misery to yourself. The olive oil may still be good. The balsamic vinegars are top tier. (I make soda pop out of them). But the one of a kind experience and hospitality is GONE. Save your money.
