Went in for a sandwich only to learn they only make them on Tuesday/Thursday. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I bought Porchetta and house burgers. Made Porchetta sandwiches for lunch and can't even explain how delicious the meat was. It was slices then and had great flavor. Oliver's has quite a selection of deli meats and cheese as well as high quality steaks, chops and sausages. The seafood looked very fresh as well. This is a local butcher shop that should be supported. I had a great experience and will be back. read more

Should have taken a photo of the cases... alas... it's a smaller butcher, but they try to focus on local and fresh offerings. They had some really good looking Mahi Mahi filets that I am kicking myself for not getting, but in talking with the two guys behind the counter, it was just brought in that morning. Instead we got local chicken breast, which at about $7 per lb. Is pretty good for local chicken. Our CSA previously charged $10.99 a lb. And some pork chops to throw on the grill - they were nice thick cuts too! Their different beef cuts looked good and the one guy was talking about bringing in some A5 in the future (admittedly this was a conversation I was eaves dropping on so I don't have details -- but... something to look forward to???) They also have different prepared foods - apparently their shepherd pies were very popular this past week and sold out and they have shaved ribeye that we would have liked for cheesesteaks (alas! Also sold out) It was a Sunday so I am sure they were winding down inventory for the week, but if they are selling out - it must be good, right!?! Bottom line: knowledgeable and helpful staff & good, quality selection - wish they were closer to us, but we will be back anyway! read more

Excellent quality and service all around! Love their Tuesdays and Thursdays sandwich specials which you must pre-order (an easy phone call). Their chicken broth is also excellent. It's a neighborhood gem. I live far away but whenever I need to be nearby (McLean /tysons etc) I stop by here for some sandwiches and other goodies. If you want to know how phenomenal a sandwich can taste, get here at 11:00 on a Tuesday or Thursday. It is a story in sandwich symbiosis. We're now regulars (pro tip, you can call and reserve a sandwich) and it is absolutely worth the drive to Great Falls. Notice I didn't say how long the drive to Great Falls? Because it doesn't matter. It's worth the drive. On any other day it is still worth the drive (again, doesn't matter how long) for their house made sausage (jalapeños and cheese? Yes, please!), house made compound butter, pimento cheese, sashimi grade tuna loin, Faroe Island salmon, and just gorgeous steaks to name a few. Plus they will special order items that you just can't find other places. The people who work there are awesome. They know their product and they know what they are talking about. This isn't your corner grocer, no where to sit and eat that gorgeous sammie, but you can find some potatoes and some heirloom tomatoes in season, plus fresh eggs and dairy because who doesn't want the farm fresh kind. Lovely shop with excellent cuts of meats and enough variety to satisfy any meat lover looking for a neighborhood butcher with quality cuts of steak, pork and pretty much everything else. I've only had their prime rib roast so I can't speak to everything else (yet) but my god was it some of the best I've ever had. You can select from what they have available or custom order pretty much anything you'd like, this is why you come to a butcher vs grocery store for your meats. Horrible experience! We asked for bone-in chicken thighs without skin and cut in small pieces. Even after specifically asking that, they give us huge pieces of chicken thighs with skin on. We even tipped them. Our mistake was to trust them and not checking before leaving the shop. After coming back home, we discovered the mistake and called back. They were rude and said that they cannot alter anything if the chicken has already left the shop and argued that we specifically asked for the skin to be on. We went to a butcher instead of regular grocery store especially because we wanted bone in chicken thighs without skin. This was our first time going to this butcher and we were misled by the 5 star rating. Probably mostly fake ratings, given there are only 40 of them. Buyers be aware! read more

I recently stopped in for some steaks to grill out, but was pleasantly surprised to find they had fresh seafood. I left with a couple ribeyes, some crab cakes, prosciutto and aged Parma. Everything was absolutely incredible. Crab cakes all crab and steaks needed no seasoning. I made homemade pizza with the prosciutto and Parma and I will never buy packaged again! The next day I went back and got a bag of clams for a pasta dish. The owner recommended the Ora King salmon. Suffice to say I probably will never be able to eat any salmon other than Ora King again. My son asked to have more salmon instead of dessert. My favorite so far has been the clams, they were salty and tasted right from the ocean. Absolutely delicious! And every single clam opened. No cracked or dead ones. Great selection of meats, seafood, cheeses, sausage fresh breads, condiments, soups, sauces and more. And beautiful charcuterie boards are available for pre-ordering. The store was clean and the people working there were so friendly and went out of their way to be accommodating. Can't recommend enough this family owned business. read more

They met all my requests with a courteous "no big deal " attitude. This place is top notch! They have such a great variety of meats and seafood that will not disappoint. So freaking fresh!! A HUGE difference to what you will find at your local grocery store. The service is great. Be sure to speak up and ask the guys how to cook the food. They will even marinate it for you upon your request. They are all super nice and are happy to share what they know. Joe has been great with all my seafood requests. Just a great crew all around! They carry fresh bread and have some great marinades, rubs, and oils too. So excited to have a good butcher in the area! We used to go to Eastern Market when we lived in DC and have missed it. We had friends coming for dinner and I wanted to make a charcuterie board but haven't been happy with the charcuterie from Wegmans or Whole Foods. The staff were super knowledgable and helpful answering questions and gave some recommendations based on what they had. They even let us sample before we purchased.
