While this used to be our go to place for bakery and deli items we no longer go. We expected it to need some time to find their footing after the new owners took over. It never did. I think it actually got worse as time goes on. I'm just tired of throwing money away here. The quality and consistency of items has dropped. Sandwiches have smaller portions and 1/2 of the time not edible. Sometimes it is the meat, or cheese that seems old/off or the bread isn't fresh. The turkey chutney was my favorite but they changed the chutney (never posted it or said anything) and it is bad. Like really bad. A can of cranberry sauce would be a lot better. read more

I've been going to Oliver T's for years. I've lived not even a mile from the store my whole life. I used to bike there as a kid. I've seen Oliver T's decline over the years. It's very sad to see. I was once a little 6 year old kid going there with my grandma to buy spices and root beer for my grandpa. Everything was so clean and organized back then. The thing is now? I've heard things about rodents and rats being in the stockroom. They've recently closed their meat department down. Rendering a quarter of the store unused. Over the more recent years, I've seen the external quality of the building itself decline. The floors seem to always be slightly dirty and dusty, there are strange spills sometimes. But I love going there because it has been there since I was born. The food is still as delicious as it was, even if there's less to choose from nowadays. It's still very good. The service was excellent and so was the food. I ordered a croissant and a cookie for me and the fiancé, and they were incredible! If you like unique wine, beer, soda, candy, spices, soups, cheeses and baked goods? This is an excellent place to be! Overall? Don't stop what you're doing, Oliver T's! You're doing great! I ordered a 10 inch chocolate cake with raspberry filling and rasberry mousse filling. what I picked up was a tasteless chocolate cake with stiff pink frosting and a note that said "cake was not baked". I have ordered many great cakes over the years with no problem. That ends now. read more

I used to make this a special atop when driving through Flint area as they had amazing sandwiches and a good selection in their deli. I ordered the NY NY sandwich and was told 20 minutes later (when they already made it) that it was missing the chopped liver (the whole point of the sandwich/ second ingredient listed in their menu)... so it was basically a corned beef sandwich I can get at a local bar.... Service was much slower than it used to be. Deli selection (salads and sides) was maybe 20% of what they had in their hayday. Half the coolers for meats and cheese were empty and turned off. Nobody working there wanted to be there (it was obvious based on their attitude and discussions amongst themselves) Unfortunately it is a microcosm of Genesee county... going down hill fast. The new owner has ruined an otherwise excellent specialty market. Went there last week expecting the selections that were there previously and much to my dismay the store was emptied of every item Oliver T's was known for. The humidor was nearly empty, wine selections were being left to disappear with most racks only a third full at best. The little market had disappeared with "shades" covering the cooler sections. The cheese counter left to run out of the lovely cheese selections and the bakery and deli a mere shadow of what once was. Save yourself a trip. Oliver T's is dead...... Really sad. read more

Wow. Our first trip in after new management was shocking. The place is looking rather "tired and worn", but their prices are ridiculous. The beer and wine is TWICE the price of the grocery store. That's unacceptable. Oliver T's used to be THE place to go for holiday needs and the line used to be wrapped around the store. It's like a ghost town now and I expect it will only get worse. My husband was trying to purchase a 6 pack of local beer. The grocery store charges about $12-13. Ollies wanted $25. Hard pass. I don't get a chance to visit Grand Blanc often, but when I do, I am always pleasantly surprised to find something new and exciting to visit. After having lunch with the ladies, I came here to see this grocery store and I was pleasantly surprised. It's a specialty store in wines, cheeses and other items as well. They have a tremendous selection of wine, and if you can't find it here in the shelf, I can't imagine you would find it any other place. Their cheese selection is pretty huge, and I wanted to buy like 10 different ones. What I really liked about this place was the selection of tea and tea accessories. I don't drink a ton of tea, but I found the tea pots and accessories inspiring and colorful. They have all sorts and I couldn't resist handling each and every one of them. Some of them were standard offerings, and others were definitely specialty. Prices here are remarkably decent, as I was expecting to be priced more like a whole foods. If I lived in the area, I would probably shop here on the regular since they have a great selection of product to choose from. They also have a deli with some premade salads, along with a lunch meat area and a really nice spice selection. The store is impressive and I wish there was one closer to me! read more

It is a family tradition to take a road trip up north to Baldwin, Michigan. One of our favorite pitstops is Oliver T's. Of course it's nice to get up and stretch our legs after sitting for so long, especially since this time around I had my newborn with us. We tried to get out every hour to hour and a half. Excited to get some food, drinks, snacks, and use the restroom as well as maybe, some potential shopping. Oliver T's makes for a great road trip rest area. We went to the deli and ordered sandwiches to go. I tried the California chicken. It was good, but not great. My husband ordered the Italian sub and it was probably bigger than his head! Definitely shareable sizes. We walked around and grab some snacks and drinks, I headed to the back to use the restroom and the woman bartending said it was closed because they had a wine tasting. When I checked out, I asked the woman who appeared to be the manager if I could use the restroom and she said "sure, no problem." I told her about the bartender's response and she thought that was weird because the wine tasting didn't start until later. That was weird and sort of offputting, but aside from that we had a very enjoyable experience. I always love walking through the alcohol areas, they have such a great selection for craft beers and pretty much everything else! We didn't do any shopping this time around, we were eager to hit the road again but the prices are reasonable, the food is good, parking is available out front, and regardless of what they say... There is a bathroom in the back! We are looking forward to returning to a Oliver T's & upholding family tradition on our next Michigan Road trip! read more

Living in Florida, I needed a gift basket for my daughter in Grand Blanc to congratulate her on her new job. I called Oliver T's and was connected to a very gracious and helpful lady named Barbara. Lucky for me because she usually only works on Wednesday's and she was there this Saturday when I called. Between us, we customized a gift basket that I know my daughter will love. Got some dessert for my cheat meal from Oliver's and I'm happy I did! Well... one of the items. I got a caramel cheesecake slice and a cookie cream cheese brownie. The cheesecake was wayyy too sweet. The caramel had great flavor but I wasn't a fan of the texture. I personally prefer a firm cheesecake. The cookie brownie was amazinggggg. 9/10 because it could have been a touch softer but I think 30s in the microwave would do the trick. Sooo good. I'll def be coming back for it. This is a quaint little convenience store with a small restaurant area in the back. They sell a variety of things in the shop from greeting cards to specialty candy. During the holidays, they have cute little associated trinkets which are always fun to browse albeit a little pricey. The restaurant in the back has a surprisingly large variety of foods and desserts to choose from. I've only tried a couple of their staples such as grilled cheese and tomato soup which were tasty. They seem to be more popular for their desserts if which there is also quite the range from cupcakes to cannolis. Again, delightful. I wouldn't necessarily make a special trip here but if if I'm in the area I do like to stop by. read more

I don't normally write reviews but this one needs to be addressed. Growing up, Oliver Ts was one of my favorite places to go. It was a tradition to get cupcakes for birthdays, and sandwiches on Saturday nights in my family. After returning nearly 10 years later, I was extremely disappointed in the quality. The floors look like they have not been mopped since the last time I was there! I put this past me since I really wanted to my husband to try this place out, and like it because the store was truly a sentimental place to me. We waited at the deli counter for too long when none of the workers were busy. They instead stood around clustered in the bakery and chit chatted!!! How rude! When I finally had to approach THEM for help they took my order but continued their conversation before making it. After waiting nearly 30 minutes for our reuben (which was somehow burnt AND soggy) and turkey rollup, I was beyond upset. We walked around while waiting on our sandwiches & noticed the produce was moldy so we ended up going to another store for that. We got a few treats in the bakery and they were as good as I remembered but it was upsetting that yet again I had to ask for service to be helped. The food was mediocre but unfortunately, I will not be returning anytime soon, if not EVER! Save your $20. I've seen fast food with better quality and service than this place. What a find! Reminiscent of fine wine and baked shops in the greater Detroit area. Great selection of bakery items and liquor, not to mention the great array of gift items, home decor and kitchen gadgets. I love the variety and unique flavor of this shop. I love the cute little home goods area. They sell delightful teapots, glassware, serveware, and kitchen accessories. They used to carry a line of Nigella Lawson kitchen gadgets/accessories here (which I love and collect for my own kitchen), but I haven't seen any of it lately. Bummer. They still have a lot of nice stuff, though. It's kind of like Anthropolgie, in that respect. Unfortunately, the prices are on the high side, including for certain run of the mill products. Despite the slightly elevated price points, Oliver T's, does have a tremendous wine and beer selection (some of the best around the area), plus, they sometimes offer good deals on certain wines in an effort to promote specific labels. Check out their special wine deals found on the end caps. Those can be real steals! Great selection of French wines and reds, especially premium Bougelais wines. The selection of craft beers and hard to find labels. You can do a mix and match six pack of various beers, too. Their wine tasting room is a terrific addition. What a smart idea. The offerings in their walk-in humidor are rather good, if that's something you're into (my husband is- he can't pass up a chance to check it out). Excellent deli section and fresh baked breads, but the prices are not the cheapest, just keep that in mind. I have picked up some good bargains on "day old" french bread and rolls, up to 75% off on certain occasions. It's still fresh and just as good as it was right after it came out of the oven. Nice array of organic food, particularly produce, but again, priced a little high, but not outrageous. Their produce selection is enviable. The staff could be a little friendlier, in my opinion. The salespeople are pretty much glued to their checkout kiosk and the deli/bakery folks completely stay behind the counter. Finding a manager is hit or miss. read more

This place is so amazing that I kick myself for not posting a note sooner. We are truly blessed having it here in Grand Blanc. The ready made sandwiches that they offer a couple times each month are amazing quality and the $5.50 price is a great value as well. This includes the sandwich and chips as well as your selection of a 12oz soda. Just yesterday I phoned and spoke with Mike in an attempt to find a couple of liquors that I was having trouble finding in this area. Not only did Mike have both of my items, but he pulled them and set them aside for me at the front register saving me additional time on my lunch. The price I paid was less than I expected. I appreciate the entire team's willingness to assist and will continue to be a repeat customer! If you have never been here, you truly must give this place a try!!! read more

As a beer enthusiast, this is one of the best places to come. The best part is that nearly all of the beer can be picked individually. That is NOT something you can find essentially anywhere else. Along side that, they have a massive selection of both domestic craft and imported items. So much so that it can be over-whelming, especially if you're indecisive like I tend to be. The only downside is that they sometimes post that they have a new beer, but in reality they only got a single pack and may be gone before you even realize it was there. While I have not personally had the food, I know several people that have and they all loved it. Their favorite part was how generous the proportions are for the price. Again, something that is quite difficult to find these days. All in all, this is the place to go for your beer, or even food, needs. read more

About 25 years ago, OT's was my favorite deli. Absolutely loved the fresh deli and the uniqueness of the store. Had it again today for the first time in a couple decades and wow, it has really, really fallen off. I had to throw away the potato salad because it smelled like bad old eggs. Just horrible. The turkey in the sandwich was old also. Tasted like it was from Thanksgiving about 5 years ago. Seems like this place is the same as so many. After having initial great food and success, the quality drops way off when they get comfortable and slack on what they did best. And today's quality was way, way bad. I actually took the trash out of the house because it was smelling up the place from the Oliver T's rancid food. I so wish this was a 'after returning so many years later the food is still awesome ' review. But that just wouldn't be true. The owners need to go visit a Jason's Deli and see how it's done right. Such a shame what they've done to their once fabulous food. Probably not going to chance a return. Response to owner reply: Interesting reply from the owner of OT's. I will absolutely say I have not put a review in on any other site at all. Not ever for another business. So not sure who the other person is, but it was not me at all. I started being a customer of yours 25 years ago, and remained a weekly customer for about 5 years, up until I moved away from Michigan. I visited your place after being gone from MI for 20 years. So there is no confusion as to being a customer for 20 or 25, or whatever. That is something you put together. I am just a guy who loved your deli in the past. I told people all over about how great it was. I never said anything negative about your staff. They were actually quite nice.
