I've been to 2 previous places that had trouble lifting my left eyelashes, but Olivia had no problems! Olivia is really gentle and walked through her steps. I got my eyebrows microbladed by Mina today and I am in love! She was very meticulous with explaining what she was doing throughout the whole procedure. First, she handed me an eyebrow pencil and asked me to fill in my brows to the shape I normally fill them so she could get an idea of my shape preference. Next, she did the shape mapping on my face and gave me her expert opinion on shape and color. We decided on an ashy brown color and we were on our way! Mina then applied numbing cream and we started the procedure just 15min later. Although there was absolutely no pain, Mina would ask me how I was doing to make sure I was comfortable. She applied a second layer of numbing cream towards the end, but even before then the pain was very minimal. The whole procedure took 1.5hrs. She went over aftercare instructions with me, gave me ointment to take home, and instructed me to make a touch up appointment 4 weeks later :) Highly recommend! I've also gotten eyelash extensions multiple times by artist Veronica, as well as an eyelash lift by Veronica and Mina. (Which I've loved every time!) The salon offers a wide range of services and is very clean with ample street parking. The online appointment booking and reminders are also a very big plus! read more

I am so conflicted about reviewing this business... Because I have to admit to the fact that my lashes have extensions on them!! This location can be a little hard to find since its a doorway to the right of Joanie's Cafe! Ring the doorbell and Olivia will come out to escort you into her studio. Appointments are easily made on her website and she offers many styles to pick from. I wanted something natural so that I can get away with POSSIBLY letting people think that I was blessed with full long lashes (hah yeah right!) After making the appointment, she and her husband (who runs the email/communication side of the business) sent pre-visit instructions and post-visit instructions. I showed up in comfy work out clothes and was led to her table to lay down. Instead of picking the fullness and style, I told Olivia that I wanted something natural and pretty and let her work her magic on my lashes. She was great in taking pre/middle of the procedure and post pictures of my lashes. She showed me the various lashes that she would be using prior to gluing them on and I settled in. She was extremely responsive to feedback (ie, if she could adjust the eyepads a bit since they were slightly itchy) and there were times that I fell asleep. Olivia was fantastic to work with and she was super patient. I have very thin fine lashes and she took her time to make sure that I walked out with a natural look vs something totally outrageous and fake! Definitely take a peek at the photo i posted! Post appointment, I received a followup email to make sure everything was okay. I've been getting eyelash extensions across the bay for almost a decade. The maintenance is tough and good lash technicians are hard to book with conflicting schedules, so I've have the opportunity to visit many different studios. I gave Leigh a try over at Olivia & Lash and was pleasantly impressed! A few noticeable differences between my experience with Leigh and other salons that specialize in eyelash extensions: 1. Communication! Leigh is easy to get in contact with and will try her best to accommodate you so that you can get an appointment that works for you, even if it means she refers you to someone else. This means when you're ready for a fill, you're not scrambling to choose from a couple of time slots that are leftover that don't work with your schedule and you end up having to pay for a new set because you ended up having to wait too long to get the appointment. 2. Location! The studio is easy to find with plenty of parking within a 4 block radius, and there are lots of things to do in the area since they are located off of a side street from University Ave. You'd think this wasn't a big deal, but I've ended up in all sorts of places starving, thirsty, etc. The drive out and the time spent at the appointment can wear on you. A good location makes a big difference! Olivia & Lash is located right next to a boba shop, which makes a quick pick me up snack possible. 3. Amenities! Their bathroom has all sorts of useful things for you to use. If you are wearing makeup in, they have makeup remover and other feminine products/necessities that you may end up needing to freshen yourself up after your appointment. 4. SPEED! I'm super impressed that Leigh was able to put a new set on me in a little over an hour. I've spent 2-3 hours at many appointments and this was the fastest I've ever been in and out. 5. Technique! I'm not sure if it's how my lashes grow or my lack of eyelid crease, but usually when I get eyelash extensions, the lashes start crossing and turning into my eyes after a few days and I start an obsessive cycle of plucking out my lashes whenever they start poking my eyes. This was the first set I've gotten where my eyelids weren't glued together in any spots when I was done and didn't end up having lashes poking or resting in the eyeballs. Also, Leigh made sure that my lashes were the right length and shape to not hit my glasses, which helped them stay straighter. 6. Accuracy! I took a look at where the eyelash extensions were placed and they were in nice and neat little rows and glued right where they should be. Once in a while, I've found eyelashes glued in a clump, attached to the inner lash line, or even on the eyelid. I opted for a more natural look and the extensions definitely looked like my regular lashes and accentuated what was already there. If you're looking for a highly qualified eyelash artist, Leigh is your girl! You couldn't be in better hands....just remember to leave some evening appointments for me! read more

I have been getting my lashes done by Olivia for over 6 months straight now. I originally got them done for an overseas trip where I didn't want to have to worry about make-up and I loved how great my lashes looked that I kept coming back for fills! Olivia is truly a master artist when it comes to lash extensions. Not only does she know exactly how to tailor the lashes to your eye shape and style, she also is very helpful in giving advice about lash care and maintenance. I wasn't properly cleaning my lash extensions when I first got them and Olivia made sure to remind me to clean it well because of dead skin cells that can accumulate on your lash line and prevent natural growth. She's so knowledgable in what she does! I get compliments on my lashes all the time and it's usually, "Oh my gosh, are those real?" Because they DO look very natural and yet very glamorous at the same time. I love that she picked the best length for my Asian eyes and the right amount of curl. I remember when I first came to Olivia, I showed her a picture of how I used to curl my lashes and wear mascara and Olivia has been able to not only emulate that look but amplify it. I don't wear eyeliner or mascara anymore because I can leave the house feeling like my look is complete with just my lash extensions alone! I don't think I can go without lash extensions anymore and I do think it's a good investment, given how much time I save in the morning now for not having to spent time putting on all the make-up I used to wear. Olivia is on the pricier side but it's because you get what you pay for -- if you want to save money and do a Groupon, you'll get really bad lashes from other places. I think Olivia is worth it because you're not only getting a talented professional, you're getting someone who also teaches other lash artists and knows exactly what she's doing. She's even told me about how she searched high and low for the perfect lash glue and I have to admit, I've been to other lash artists before Olivia, and their glue smelled very chemical-y. You can't smell the glue at all when Olivia is doing your lashes. In fact, it's so relaxing that I fall asleep on the table every time! She's gentle and professional when working on your lashes. Found my go-to lash extension place in the Bay Area. I moved here last year from LA where I was used to getting full set lash extensions for $75. While I expected a price difference up here since it's the Bay Area and all, looking around and comparing places, it was enough for me to put off lash extensions. Also did not want to go down to San Jose for slightly cheaper prices. I finally bit the bullet one day because I just missed the look and since then have not been disappointed with Olivia & Lash. I honestly have just been going to the regular lash technicians, not the senior techs nor Olivia herself and it's been just fine. So I don't know if it's worth it to really pay more for a senior technician, maybe they're quicker? It does take like 1.5 hours for a new set on me, but I highly recommend Leigh. She's really nice and very considerate of client comfort level! One time I made the mistake of going to my appt after I had an eye exam with my eyes dilated... can you imagine the bright lights shining down on my pupils!! Anyway Leigh worked with me to try and dim the light and cover my eyes even though I'm sure it made it harder for her. The studio is very clean. Natural plus is the way to go in my opinion. Scheduling an appointment is super easy with their online service, and they're very aggressive with the reminder texts. (Good thing) Parking is typically for downtown Palo Alto. One of my bestie's got extensions and it not only looked gorgeous, it seemed v convenient as she didn't have to have any eye makeup on and her eyes still had that sparkle and definition we all crave for. My lashes are thin and sparse and it wasn't a hard decision to make whether to get them or not after having looked at hers. The only challenge was finding a place closer to home and after reading up several reviews I decided to choose Olivia and lash because I live bang in between both their locations and going to either of them would b less than a mile away which made it super convenient. Making an appointment was super easy, I did it online and was sent reminders and instructions promptly. On the day of appointment I got a reminder with address which was helpful. I got to the location on time, you have to walk downstairs and the suite is No 2 on the lower floor. Lindsey was waiting in a nicely appointed room which is v welcoming and tasteful. You would've to lie down as she attaches the synthetic lashes on to your original and as a first timer I had this tendency to move a bit. I felt that she was v patient with me and courteous in detailing out everything she was doing. It took nearly 2 hours to complete my lashes and the effect has left me catching a glimpse of my eyes at every mirror I encounter. Hope I don't get addicted or turn completely narcissistic. I had one of their basic lash stylist do my fill and you get your lashes done in the front room with a few other clients. One positive is that they do talk about design and type of lashes and take the time to go over your options. I went here this past Sunday for a lash lift and tint and mostly enjoyed my experience. The person who did my lashes was friendly, personable, and answered all of my questions. My lift turned out great, but my tint was disappointing. The color was pretty light, and you can still see the blonde tips at the end of my lashes. My lashes look great if I wear mascara, but it does defeat the purpose of getting a tint done. Overall, I'd recommend coming here for a lash lift, but skip the tint. read more

Prior to Olivia & Lash, I had a pretty bad lash extension experience elsewhere, which resulted in my removing them early and even seeing my optometrist because they were so irritating I thought I had an infection =/. Anyway, I'm actually somewhat grateful for THAT experience because it made me better appreciate Olivia & Lash! I had Stella as my lash artist for both for initial lashes + refill. She's good at what she does and is also honest about what lashes are right for you. I have pretty short, thin, sparse lashes (aka non-existent) so she emphasized that she couldn't give me ultra long ones because it'd be too stressful for my natural lashes to take and it'd make them fall out faster and damage them. I don't mind, since I want a more natural look anyway, but it's something to keep in mind. I also have pretty sensitive eyes, so I was worried about possible allergic reactions or irritation, but I was totally fine. I'm not sure if I'll keep coming back, personally, because it's pretty expensive to maintain, but I highly recommend coming here if you want lash extensions. Even though it's pricer than some other places, you do get what you pay for, and it's better to pay for good quality lashes and have a lower risk of infection and other gross stuff happening to your eyes. read more

I usually don't write Yelp reviews but I think lash extensions are something that most people don't know too much about, especially in Palo Alto. I used to get lash extensions in NY and wasn't sure if I would find the same caliber of service back home in Palo Alto. I did a ton of research and ended up trying out Olivia&Lash. Olivia and Lindsey are both extremely kind and easy to work with, and very careful with your eyes. My main concerns were obviously my eyelashes and my eyeballs since health and safety are always a first priority, and for that reason I never wanted to go to a hair or beauty salon that just happened to also do lashes--if I'm getting lashes done I would want to go to a business that specializes in only lashes (and one that doesn't do groupon deals either). They have a wide range of lashes from shorter natural lashes to the dramatic long volume lashes that I usually prefer and they know exactly what to do to get the look you want while keeping your own lashes healthy and safe. Plus, the rates are less than half what lash extensions cost in NY! Feel free to ask me about them or to ask for photos or the like--I know a lot of my friends in PA had been asking.
