Chin believes only in soaking off the existing nails and will not hurry the visit by using the grinder most places use. He explained to me that it wears away at the strength of my natural nail and that I should insist my nail salon back home takes the time to soak off my nails. With that being said, Chin took great care in getting my very damaged and very short nails back to looking really nice, and we agreed only one tip for a nail that I had bit off so short it was painful. An chimed in on the color selection, and the two of them got me to a beautiful shade of champagne. As I sat in their salon, I lost sight of the fact that I was right off Eastern Avenue. The atmosphere is tranquil and very relaxing. Good conversation was shared between the owners, another team member, and two regulars of theirs who were super pleasant. In fact, An was kind enough to text me that they were running a little behind for my appointment and also mentioned to look for the blue awning off of Ann Street. Then she asked if I wanted my toenails clipped. Duh? Of course I want them cut; they were long! I tell her yes. She clarifies. "Do you want me to cut them all the way down?" Yes. Please. I get home and feel pain in my toes. I look. She barely cut any of my nails off, and most she left most of my toes with sharp edges that were digging into my skin! I'm diabetic. I physically cannot afford to get foot injuries. So i had to cut my nails myself. Now everything looks like shit but at least I'm not in the running for multiple ingrown toes or in pain. These nail places rarely ever take accountability for their shortcomings and mistakes. Fuck this place.

SUMMARY: A great mani/pedi experience! FULL STORY: This is a new-ish salon in Canton. A different experience than other nail places in the area... more calm and clean with nice sunlight. Feels less commercial. Loved the color selection and how well they were able to help ID and select colors. Nice leg massage and salt scrub. Polish looked great and it was one of the longest-lasting mani/pedis I've had in years (regular polish). **The manicurist I had was friendly, helpful, on-time, and talented -- that said, I would definitely stick with one of the ladies here or one of the co-owners. The man working on someone nearby wasn't taking his time or doing much with the pedicure... I had a great experience, but his client seemed disappointed, and I could see why! The pedicure chairs don't have a water connection or jets, so they fill it up separately. At first I thought that was strange, but it actually might allow a better cleaning. No UV drying stations, which is a positive for me. Note: Street parking. Olivia is a pretty good nail salon with some uncommon features. Kind of calm inside and not too loud or crowded. No water jets in the pedicure bowls and no massage chairs - this could be a pro or con depending on your preference. They have OPI, Essie, and a couple of other brands of polish. Most of this works great for me. A few down sides are that they don't have an active website or updated socials. The service/price list isn't really posted anywhere. I find most of the prices to be fair, but we have occasionally been up-charged without prior notice. You can't book online, only by calling in. And I think they have gotten a little bit overbooked. Maybe they take too many weekend appointments, because the last 2 visits they were about 30 min behind for my scheduled appointment. I think that after almost 10 years of operation, they should have the scheduling and service plan working better. The actual manicures/pedicures are OK for me. Sometimes there's too much of a gap near the cuticle, and sometimes as others have said it's kind of thick. Usually good though! My normal manicures last around 4-5 days. This place has been around for a few years, and the times I've gone, it has been pretty good! The owners seem nice - they have been helpful and fine to me. (One time I came in and a woman working here was awkwardly arguing with a customer over something... that was weird). The polish selection is decent - you'll find something good in any color range. They might not have your exact color, but there's a lot to pick from. The mani / pedi is pleasant - results look good, and polish (regular polish) tends to last how I'd expect. The salon gets nice sunlight - it's a simple and clean look, which I find more relaxing than the large / packed salons. The pedicure chairs are different than what you usually see - they're like regular arm chairs with a detached pedicure bowl -- just something to know beforehand. You won't have the hot water jets or massage or anything. The main down-sides for me here are the location / parking (pretty much impossible, and not a great area), and scheduling - just books up too much to get in sometimes. My salonist, Bee, finished my pedicure and did a great job in 30 minutes. The builder gel manicure did take about 2 hours and I was there past their closing time. The overall vibe of the salon was clean and welcoming. There is street parking available out front as well.
