Margarita
Laura M.

When staying in Las Vegas last week, we decided to check this place out for dinner. Walking in, this place has a super funky vibe, including the oversized donkey head above the bar (we later found out that the owner owns a metal work shop next door, and it's his artwork on the walls). We decided to sit at the bar. The bartenders were great - super helpful, checked in regularly, made recommendations, and poured us 'mystery shots' (I won't ruin it, but we tried two different mystery shots, and they were vastly different from one another in a fun way). I started with a margarita, then opted for a beer (pretty good tap list/options). On the food front, I opted for tacos - and picked three different ones. I had the pork belly taco (pork belly, cheese, lettuce, pickled cabbage and spicy mayo), shrimp and corn taco (shrimp, corn, feta, pickled onion, cabbage and chipotle ranch), and the townie (ground beef, cheese, lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream). They were all very flavorful, and filling. My husband opted for the dragon bowl (chicken, rice, bell peppers, cabbage, snap peas, scrambled eggs, and topped generously with cheese). It was also very tasty, and extremely generously sized (we could have split it and still had leftovers). We enjoyed our meal, and experience, and would come back when in the area again.

Good Grub Good Time

"Wild Juanita's Cactus Juice".. In a lean-two shack by an old garage.. With a fruit stand out front for camouflage.. And you might think it's just a mirage.. But I'll tell you first hand that it isn't.. But the best kept secret.. Is the.. Wild Juanita's Cactus Juice.. We settled into the fun, crazy dive bar like restaurant called.. "The Skillet". We shared a most delicious Brisket Burrito w. basmati rice and beans. W. a side of the best homemade Potato Frys had. We gobbled them up like we just came in from being lost in the local Hot Springs..:) The Lassie washed her grub down w. "Lavender Fields Forever" very smooth and refreshing; The Lad washed his grub down w. a nice coconutty "Pina Colada" quite slurpy. The Skillet was a funky good-time restaurant w. friendly attentive service. "Wild Juanita's Cactus juice" Got y'all feelin' all loosey goose It could make enemies call a truce.. It'll make you feel good but you don't have to fear it.. It enlivens your body, mind, and spirit.. Wild Juanita's cactus juice It just might save the world.:) Best, Avram K. Butts jr.

Three Sister's Taco

The staff at our hotel and the staff at the visitor's center all recommended The Skillet for lunch or dinner. With that many recommendations, we had to check it out. We went for a late lunch and early dinner. The restaurant is artsy, eclectic and very cool. You order at the counter and then take a seat. Mr. B ordered the Kronic Chicken Burrito. A flour tortilla filled with mashed potatoes, corn, fried chicken and gravy. It was really quite good. I ordered the Three Sister's Taco. A vegetarian taco filled with green chile, black beans, corn, zucchini, and cheese. We shared the Elote Fries. An unhealthy, but scrumptious plate of crispy fries covered in cheese sauce, corn, and feta cheese. We would definitely eat here again.

Completely inedible meat in the carne asada taco-- solid gristle, spit out into 4 napkins. About $2.50 in each napkin.

Horrendous. Low grade meat in the tacos and unpleasant, dirty interior. Bad food. Inedible tacos. Upon admiring the glowing reviews of this place, in the 4.5 star range, I was compelled to stop in and try it on my way from Colorado Springs to Clovis, NM tonight. To do so, I was forced to muster enough enthusiasm to ignore the uninviting exterior, the horrendously tacky and dirty interior, the chairs and tables that all rock amply; one table I sat at nearly fell over. It's as though no one cares about their own restaurant, or in the ?? 100 years that they've been open? No one ever remembered to check for wobbly tables and poor lighting. The decor, if there could be intentionality in all of this chaos might be summed up as Mexico Mardi Gras, if such a thing exists. But with 4.5 reviews, I ignore all of this and hold out faith for the food. There must be something redeeming about this establishment to get 4.5 stars. The food: rare is it to find a place specializing, in this case, in tacos where they're patently inedible. If all I served was pancakes and I couldn't make a decent pancake, I'd be in a world of trouble. The first bite: Solid Gristle, like biting into a bicycle inner tube. I spit it out into a napkin. (see photo) The second bite: solid gristle. Napkin 2. The third bite, solid gristle. Napkin 3. The fourth bite: edible, but it wasn't tasty and had a strange odor and taste to it. I left with more inedible pieces of rubbery, low grade reject meat wrapped in napkins on the table than I consumed. And this came to with 2 tiny dishes of canned-quality beans and rice?: $14.86. I can honestly say that I was hankering for a Del taco or even Taco Bell after this putrid food. I must conclude that the ownership thought that by delivering a bohemian "cool" interior that somehow no one would notice the food? Were they ever mistaken.

From the prompt service to the friendly staff, everything went really well. The wings were fantastic as were the drinks that I ordered. I'll definitely go back.

Stopped by for a drink while on a road trip pit stop. Such a cool vibe and location. Would have loved to arrive hungry, they had so many cool tacos I wanted to try. Good selection of beers on tap. Definitely stop here! Worth a quick detour off the interstate.

We found this funky and fun restaurant while walking around exploring old town Las Vegas and decided to stop in for a drink. Decor was very fun, staff friendly and helpful and food good with large portion sizes. They have a nice outdoor area, but we found a spot inside as it was raining.

Food was interesting and delicious! The service was great and the ambiance was unlike anything I've ever experienced! Worth a try!

This restaurant has very tasty food and good service. I had three different tacos: carne asada, pork belly, fish tacos. They were all great! And surprisingly they were big too! I was stuffed after eating them! Regarding the atmosphere, the side bar itself was only open at the time (perhaps due to the construction). But hopefully the main restaurant will open again, especially the patio! I will definitely come here again!

Brisket burrito and side of fries. The fish tacos were so good there was no time for a photo

The food was excellent. The servers was normal and the ambience was good outside, but inside it was rather dark into much like a bar room.

The vibe hits you the moment you walk through the door. It is a sharp modern southwest aesthetic mixed with just the right amount of neon glow. It feels current but totally fits the landscape. The drinks are well curated and excellent. They run a short draft list that features some fantastic local and regional beers, always poured with a clean head that shows they actually care about line maintenance. But honestly, the cocktails are where the creativity shines. The White Buffalo is my absolute favorite order here. It is smooth, smoky, and perfectly balanced. As for the food, they are batting a thousand. I have yet to find a single miss on the menu. The Vito Burger is an absolute powerhouse of a sandwich, but the kitchen shows serious range with the tacos and even the ravioli. Everything comes out tasting fresh and deeply flavorful. Now, the service can definitely run a little on the slow side. It is just the general pace of the town, though, so you adjust your internal clock, relax, and realize there is no need to rush. The real jackpot for us during our last trip was catching live music right there in the lounge. We got to spend the evening watching The Rudy Boy Experiment, and they completely blew the roof off the place with that gritty, soulful blues rock. There is something special about sitting back with people you love, a killer drink, great food, and watching a band that genuinely knows how to work a room. Borrachos just gets the formula right.

Probably the class of New Mexico craft beer. Brands like their Alien IPA are well known throughout the SW. I'm a big fan of their peanut butter porter. Of course the beer here is delish and fresh. Located just off I-40 in Moriarity about 45 minutes east of Albuquerque. Easy on off ... worth the stop. Big property that encompasses the brewery proper + a tasting room, merch sales and an amazing 1 acre'ish beer garden that has coverage from sun if it's too hot. I sat with pup back in beer garden and the outside bartenders was nice enough to deliver my drinks to the table. As far as a Harvest Host site is concerned, pretty big, level dirt parking area that as they admit gets a bit muddy after rain, but if you keep to edges, you'll be fine. Only thing not leading me to 5-star rating is absence of kitchen and any food other than bagged pretzels and nuts. Country music playing outside, just a really nice place

She can take what feels like sixteen orders at once, remember every single one, deliver them with absolute precision, keep the entire room moving, somehow do the math in her head, and still make every customer feel like they're the only person sitting at the bar. The basement bar itself is exactly what a great dive should be; a shithole. Heavy hobo stab vibes upon entry, including Katya. Smell: multiple buttholes farting at once. Climate control: sweaty patron dependent. Lighting: liability. TV: playing a rotation of trash 80s DVDs . If business schools were smart, they'd study her. If hospitality groups were smart, they'd clone her. If Santa Fe has any sense at all, they'll do whatever it takes to keep her exactly where she is. Cash only, so come prepared. My motorcycle buddy took me here for an afternoon beer. We pulled up to the wooden, deserted-looking bar and I was like, uh, really?? But the sign said "ABIERTO", so my friend smiled, pushed the door open for me, and thus the adventure began. The bar is basically a large room full of stuff. Crap. Boxes. A covered pool table. Covered with cats. The actual bar was a small thing on the right side of the room. Also covered with cats. I love cats, so I was okay with this. :) A woman ambled out from the back, eyeing us warily (we were the only ones there), then got us our beer and water and sat behind the tiny bar to keep tabs on us. Once she started talking, man, we got some local stories that were pretty amazing. She turned out to be Mary's granddaughter; Mary (who just turned 95!!!) was in back taking a nap. My friend was disappointed Mary was not around, as apparently she is a real firecracker. It was Mary's parents who started the bar in the late 1800's (although I read it started as a general store) and it's still going... not strong, as the town of Cerrillos is pretty much a ghost town, but it's going. A must see if in the area. You won't be disappointed!
