West Park is Tehachapi's main sports park…read more Taking up over 13 acres, this park is planted smack dab in the middle of a residential area. I was a little surprised as I was coming across this park. What exactly was I doing here? Pokemon hunting, of course! (Don't judge!) It was quiet on week day morning. A few kids were playing a game of softball. The residential area is nice and calm. But I imagine it jumps off if there's a Little League game. West Park is well shaded with mature trees. It also houses a skate park and newly redone activity center. Kudos to Tehachapi Parks & Recs for another well-done park!

From a non-scooter parent point of view the facilities were great. Clean, kept up and much bigger in person that what you see online. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. Customer service is vital for a good review and they had it. They offer accommodations for overnight stays but we opted for a local Airbnb for our family's needs. From a scooter (or skate) point of view Woodward really is one of the best. There are so many parks within the complex for every level of ability. You can see from my pictures the variety they offer both indoor and outdoor. If you have a rider/skater in your family, it's a must go on your list of places to visit. We look forward to coming again. PS - Our boy took second place in his division for the North America Championship.

However, the park had plenty of open space, clean bathrooms, and lots to do for humans both big and little. That being said: if its a hot day its pretty brutal during peak hours. They have so much imaginative things for them. The theme looks like bugs, actually it looks like the Ant's life around here. I wish just three things for the park. 1. They put a water element in 2. They update the woodchuck playground to that soft compound for the kids, because they can't wear sandals as hot as it is with this kind of woodchuck they stick them in their toes 3. The parking from what I see is pretty far away from the park area if you're bringing multiple children or equipment is a Long Beach like walk! Lol Other than that if I lived near here, this would be the park of choice for. I don't think they have a designated dog park area, but it's a large enough park that you could walk your dogs. They have at least two baseball fields, two tennis courts looks like it might be two basketball courts and at least 2 to 4 different areas to play soccer a skate park a barbecue pit area. Beach Park, the arm pit of Bakersfield?…read more I have never seen or hard earned tax dollars doing so little work. I went to see the Richard & Annette Bloch Cancer Survivors Plaza. I am sad to say it is non-existent. The plaza has been destroyed. Whether by vandals or the city, I do not know, but don't go, it's not there. It is only a skeleton. Then I began walking around the park taking photos. As you will see, the park is a mess. It is impossible to walk without nearly breaking your ankle in the squirrel holes that litter the park. I probably saw 1000 squirrels in the 15 minutes I took pictures. The squirrels not only pose a physical problem with all the holes, but also a disease risk. The restrooms are filthy and the roof is partially burnt and falling apart. I was afraid to go inside it was so nasty. There was trash strewn across the park and it looked like it had been there for some time. The playground equipment was in not much better shape. Where are the Parks and Recreation personnel working if not in the parks. Where is our tax dollars going if not to fix our parks. Isn't Bakersfield talking about building more parks. Shouldn't they fix the existing ones first. I am not putting any captions on the photos. I will let them speak for themselves.

This park was named after a lady who was a resident for many years and was also a foster parent to many kids . This park's amenities include: Basketball courts Swimming pools Tennis courts Baseball fields Fitness area Gymnasium Picnic tables Community center Skate parks Soccer fields Children playground Restrooms

This magnificent little park has a little bit of everything. -That's what makes it great.:)…read more A group of off-duty army veterans are setting up a volleyball game. A father is teaching his youngest son how to 'hit one outta the park'. Small family barbeques are being planned and celebrated in the shade of one of the first-come-first-served gazebos. A future skateboard influencer is setting up a"live feed"for his tictoc fans. Cool Palmdale kids are practicing their 360s at the skateboard ramps and half pipe in the skate park. My favorite Instagram friend is practicing his free throw.... all the way from Greece?! Ok, maybe it just looked like him. This is a great place to practice your free throws! Old friends are playing a pick up game at the basketball courts. Future Lakers in the making! Kids are playing games, swinging on swings, sliding down slides, playing sports and .. musical instruments??!! Future rock stars can practice outdoor instruments here and out. Bring the band for an outdoor concert. There's a commemorative plaque in this park paying homage to Vietnam veterans. My dad served in the military during the Vietnam war, so I came to get a picture of the plaque for him. What a great park! I'm enjoying the weather, admiring everything and everyone. I brought my takeout to a nice table in the shade. Pandemic points! Every time I come to this park I get to trade smiles with somebody different. I moved to the area for a reason, the people. This park is located in an area of the Antelope Valley that looks like a country rap video directed by Clint Eastwood starring everyone. I traded hair compliments with the most beautiful little girls I've ever seen. Rainbow beads, you are my sunshine "No YOUR hair is prettier!" In return I got one of the best smiles in my life from their father. Why do I get something better back when I give a compliment, a hug or a smile! I don't know, but this park is a premier place to practice. I left with a skip in my step. A full tummy. Cool pictures. Great advice. And. The distinct impression that this place and one smile could change the world. I drove away playing "We can work it out" from Stevie Wonder. I didn't make it out of the parking lot before I got another smile and a nod. Everybody should come check out this park. Bring your picnics, team practices, YouTube fans, your biggest smile and your family.:)
