I ordered a couple of pizzas from Ollie's for takeout at their new location on Hillcrest using the DoorDash App. Not realizing that there is another location downtown, I mistakenly ordered from the downtown restaurant. When we arrived to pick up our order and learned that we were not at the correct location, the owner very apologetically offered to remake our pizzas there. We said it wasn't a problem at all for us to drive to the other restaurant, as it was our mistake. As we were making our way downtown the owner had called ahead instructing the other location to remake our pizzas so they would be fresh and hot and to only charge us for basic cheese pizzas. Just got back from Ollie's new location and honestly, I don't understand the high ratings. Let's start with the pizza. In a town full of great pizza options, this was incredibly disappointing. The crust had little texture, almost no flavor, and the pizza as a whole felt bland and forgettable. If the food was amazing, some of the shortcomings might be easier to overlook. Unfortunately, it wasn't. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The building itself was equally disappointing. With the garage doors open, the temperature inside felt close to 100 degrees.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If that's the design concept, fine--but why not install fans to move some air? It made for a very uncomfortable dining experience. The marketing talks about an arcade, but calling it an arcade is a stretch. Three pinball machines and one additional game isn't exactly what most people picture when they hear that term. Then there's the parking lot. It's cramped, awkward, and appears to have been an afterthought. Between the parking layout and overall building design, it's hard not to wonder who approved the final plans. The entire experience felt like style was prioritized over function. Unfortunately, neither the food nor the facility lived up to the hype. 1 Star. Quickly created pizza ordered on a Friday night at 5pm. Was ready when I arrived. Pizza was HUGE! Delicious ! Lots of flavorful toppings! I love that they use corn flour on the bottom of the crust and dont burn it. Crust is crisp outside and chewy inside, not all bready like many other pizzas. One Star - Will Not Return We had a terrible experience at Ollie's Pizza in Medford. From the moment we walked in, things felt off. We rang the bell and waited for over a minute before a server finally emerged--reluctantly--looking like having customers was the last thing she wanted. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The layout doesn't help either. You're met with a subway-tiled wall and a tiny window, giving zero visibility into what's going on in the kitchen.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I peeked over and saw one guy more focused on being a DJ with his phone than making pizza. After I literally had to call out "Hola" to get someone's attention, the girl finally acknowledged us. We asked what was available by the slice. She pointed at the display, and when my girlfriend said she'd take a Supreme slice, we were told, "Oh, we're out of Supreme right now." Why was it still being displayed, then? Christine ended up getting a spicy pepperoni slice (with no warning about the spice level), and I got two slices of Hot Honey with jalapeño pepperoni. For three slices and one medium drink, we were charged $22--which is far from budget-friendly. Then, when Christine asked for ranch, we were told it would cost $1 extra. For ranch. Is it gold-plated? The service was poor, the pricing ridiculous, and the atmosphere not inviting at all. Maybe it's the shift change or time of day but the pizza is dry as a bone and the flavor is uninspired and very basic. Really just plain bad. Maybe I just don't like "Brooklyn" style pizza. Plus the counter person was flat and basic as well. Not rude, but not happy to be there. I want to try their White Pie since I've been craving a decent one.
