They tore down the old building and raised the lot due to floods but the original parking lots remain. Anyway, the building inside is beautiful, clean and very high tech. Check in was easy at the kiosk. They have plenty of seating on the 5th floor and even a coffee bar. They send you a text to meet your medical assistant at the door. They still come out and call your name. The rooms were nice and fancy with computerized signs outside the door. Very nice complex.

They had me wait for 10 minutes and then called back to be put in the hallway. Drew labs and started an IV. They proceeded to take me back to the waiting room with an IV, no call bell. Still very short of breath. After 20 minutes I saw a nurse and told her I wanted to go back to the hallway because I was so short of breath. Asked her who my nurse was and she stated we all are. They dont have phleboomist so they have aids draw your blood! She kept poking me, reached for something and let go of my needle insertion so blood splattered all over the floor. At this point I was in tears. My lab values were extremely abnormal and they did place me in a room after 4 hours. I was admitted. I will never step foot in that emergency room again.

Meanwhile, I am in ongoing pain and unable to move forward with necessary care. I've had to repeatedly follow up on an issue that should have been handled promptly and professionally. Communication has been poor, follow-through has been lacking, and there seems to be no urgency or accountability--despite the fact that delays like this directly affect patients' health and quality of life. I understand that SBCHC is a community health center, but that does not excuse substandard care. Patients still deserve timely coordination, basic administrative competence, and compassion--especially when they are dealing with pain. This experience has left me feeling ignored and unsupported. I would not recommend this provider to anyone who needs reliable, responsive care.

Dr. Correa was excellent in explaining that the infection was under the toenail, and no home remedy I was trying could reach that area. He recommended removing the toenail to help the infection heal, which I agreed to. The procedure itself was surprisingly quick and straightforward--Dr. Correa mentioned it's a routine procedure they perform at least twice a day. It only took a few minutes, and the whole experience was seamless. Arthur, the medical staff member, was very helpful, and Gabby at the front desk was both friendly and efficient. Now, for a couple of things to be aware of: After the procedure, I was offered a post-surgery medical kit. $45! You only need self-adhesive bandages, gauze, non-stick pads, and antibiotic ointment, (I used silver gel) to change the dressing. Be smart, get these beforehand so you are not tempted. Also, I was not told by the Doc., but I soaked my foot in warm water with Epsom salt daily, which really helped with the healing process. In the patient portal, it states I received a handout, but I didn't. Be sure to ask for it if you don't receive it yourself. Finally, if you're prescribed an oral antibiotic, I highly recommend taking a very good probiotic (4 hours away from the medication) to protect your gut. Doctors often don't mention this, but it's important to keep your digestive system healthy while on antibiotics.
